Most of these same people are themselves illiterate and are steeped in myth and superstition. Ugly mothers.

The very sad thing about videos like this is the fact that we are watching scenes of normal people engaging in normal activities, without a clue about the disasterous consequences that were about to befall many of them as a result of Hitler.

Here we are in 2012...with the middle east being increasingly dominated by extremist groups like the muslim brotherhood, Israel beoming increasingly pressured to do something about Iran's nuclear plans, and so on. At least in the cold war, we had rational people with their hands on the button...muslim extremists don't seem to recognize any boundaries.

Who knows? Perhaps a few years from now, we may be watching similar videos about the simpler life prior to when the middle east exploded.

I don't think that we should conflate the decision by the CRTC on the Guelph Liberals with the Elections Canada investigation into "Pierre Poutine": the two are different animals that have obviously received nothing like consistent or fair media coverage. I'm guessing that there is still some shoe or other to drop on "Pierre Poutine", and that there'll be a lot more media coverage yet that tries to construe the Conservatives as murkily possessed by dark forces (actual, you know, evidence not required, of course).

A very sad and haunting video indeed. One wonders how many of those pictured lost their lives, lost loved ones and had their property destroyed over the ensuing eight years (not that I have any sympathy for Germany's cause, of course). I found it sort of mesmerizing, actually -- young families at the beach, with others dancing by the seaside -- with swastikas fluttering in the background. Fully-clothed daylight dancing seems odd by today's standards, and I found the on-street march-past in formation of various generations of people a bit chilling. In general though, those pictured seemed happy, prosperous, peaceable -- and completely oblivious to what was about to happen.

Hmm. CBC and other left-wing journalists as paragons of the truth; Churchill ignored. Paranoia and Ignorance-is-bliss.

As usual, the CBC's politically "left" bias is shining bright. The CBC's "The Current" will dedicate a segment to the "extreme right-wing views and policies" of the Republican party's base, and how these "right wing" views are radical. Ombudsman: please send me a CBC link about how "Obama's chances of becoming president are being undercut by the extreme left-wing views and policies of the party's base." Has the CBC ever done a story like this?

Please stop being unprofessional. I have cc'd the PMO, My newspaper, and my MP. I want the CBC ombudsman to investigate this clear and blatant example of biased reporting. Please reply with your findings.

We watched the movie "The Hunger Games" this evening. Welcome to the future. Donald Sutherland played an appropriate part, as the ideology he subscribes to will bring what the background to the movie is all about.

Very interesting movie considering the historical context. OTOH, the main thing I could think of was how could people swim in that cold N. Sea water? After coming back from Florida a month ago I can't fathom the concept of swimming in cold water again. Happened to be listening to the Swedish singer Saga as I watched the 1937 video which is an interesting juxtaposition.

I'm always amazed when I hear America might go back into recession. Got news for anyone who cares. Never got out of the recession and it's getting worse. Anyone not mathematically challenged can see the facts.

No country can shut down thousands of factories, kick millions of workers to the curb and expect life to continue as it was. the middle class was the engine that drove America. Engine is broken. Millions of middle class taxpayers turned into instant liabilities requiring government assistance indefinately. Obama is doing everything in his power to stop repair on that engine and even if Romney is elected there will be years of pain and hardship as well as a rethink on ousourcing everything that produced a descent wage for milliions of workers. The absolute priorities are simple.

1 Get rid of all unions everywhere and let the market decide workers worth.

2 Put tax incentives into place to relocate to home turf. Eliminate any special status for any country exporting to the USA. Flat tax double to whatever home tax is.

3 Eliminate every green program and cut the EPA by 90 %

4 Get government out of all business decisions. They don't know how to build anything.

5 Go to a flat tax for everyone and every business.
Cut the IRS by 90%

6 Reform tort laws and eliminate the whole concept of class action lawsuits.

7 Bring out troops home and cut expenditures to the military industrial complex by 50 %. They would still make a profit.

8 All medicare and medicaid by means test. All other aid by means test.

9 Shut down Fannie May and Freddie Mac. Privatise the TSA or better yet, get rid of them. Go to Israels model of profiling. Amalgamate ICE, ATF, FBI, CIA and every other police agency into one single Police force under one transparent umbrella.

10, And most important. Any country (read muslim) that attacks american soil or interests will be turned into a parking lot. We will leave you alone to sort out your own problems without interference if you leave us alone. We do consider Israel part of our family. Attack at your own risk. All OWS rioters will be sent to a work camp in Alaska for 1 year minimum, building pipelines. All health nazis to be told they will die anyway, and all other activists pay full tax on all donation income. Every law put into place by any level of government since 1980 is immediately repealed. Any University professor teaching socialism will lose tenure now. Right now.

This is a good start, but i'm tired and have to work in the morning, considering myself lucky to still have a job so I can support all the drones that feel entitled to coast through life without questioning the status quo or where all their entitlements are coming from. They seem to be the majority now. God help us.
