There's a reason these sort of findings of guilt are announced on a friday afternoon.

I believe some of us at SDA had this discussion months ago, regarding the "what if..." of who might actually be guilty of this deed. And I still don't think it's a big deal, not as much of a big deal as the established media in Canada burying it when the results don't fit their agenda.

I think we knew the Liberals were guilty when the leaks stopped coming out of Elections Canada and Bob Rae shut up with the feigned outrage.

Now that was well done. Probably drew in a lot of moonbats who tuned to Sun TV by accident who watched only because they were hoping to be proved right and then Ezra destroyed their weltanschauung by pointing out that it was actually the lieberals who were doing the robocalling.

Why this is such a big deal I have no idea. Due to phone spam, I stopped answering my landline years ago unless I first get a page from someone that they're going to call me on that number. Also, texting or emailing people is a lot more efficient than calling them. Hard as I try, I can't put myself in the position of someone who would be influenced by an unsolicited phonecall.

That a Liberal was conducting Robocalls does not preclude the Cons doing robocalls. They were in one riding for sure.

Levant is perfectly correct (as usual) until he starts mocking Layton. Yes, it would have been important to know about his health, but to who and why? I don't think - appropriate or not - it's necessary to use Layton's death as an example of why Sun News Network is great - they have many, many other examples to choose from.

Donald Blair, I disagree with you over Velvet Glove Jack.. if he knew he was terminally ill, he should have fessed up prior to the election because technically he's supposed to be the PM in waiting. Personally I think the reasons for the disinformation and hiding is because he was in the last stages of something like Karposie Sarcoma, or another AIDS related illness. That would explain the reticence of providing the truth.

I had the opportunity to sit with Ezra at a dinner in Clagary about 5 years ago.....I knew the man was a rising star at that time..

LAS Robocalls are perfectly legal if done legally. The difference is when you make a robocall you identify yourself. The Conservatives did make robocalls and did it legally. The Liberals made robocalls and did it illegally.

Quite by accident I caught a bit of The House on CBC radio yesterday where they interviewed the liberal from Guelph (may his name never cross my keyboard). He was still trying to blame the Conservatives because they shut down an illegal poll and tried to get rid of the illegal ballots!

But there is no -evidence- that the Conservative Party or the elected Conservative MP did any illegal robocalls in the riding you're talking about. They have not been convicted and fined for illegal robocalls.

"They all do it" won't wash here. The LIBERALS did it. And having done it, they falsely accused their political opponents. Their water-carriers in the extra-chromosome press wrote a new story every freakin' week keeping the false accusation alive.

My 'beef' Phantom is that you are simply not seeing reality. There is evidence the cons did robocalling. Like, you know, the robocalls people got. That evidence can be said to be insufficient but it exists.

Further, posters here are making a dangerous equivocation. The Liberals got a CRTC fine related to minor misinformation (did not ID the source of the calls as Liberal). The Cons are being investigated by Elections Canada for deceiving voters on the whereabouts of voting stations.

I highly doubt anything will come of this and the media has overblown it. On the other hand, the Cons lack of ethics makes it possible somebody did something really bad.

It's dressed up as *reporting* -- it's got a headline under a newspaper banner, and an assertive, knowing tone - and looks like a news report until you actually read it, at which point you realize that it's functionally no different than if you "reported" on what your friends and drinking buddies say -- assuming you weren't too embarrassed to pass that sort of thing off as national news.
