About Kate
Why this blog?
Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio - "You don't speak for me."

no mention of the "winning brand/model"?
"can you hear me now?"

Finland has lots of obsolete phones.
unfortunately Nokia missed the smart phone revolution.
Nokia has partnered with Microsoft and has a pretty decent smartphone in their Lumia line.
But this is do or die time. Next month Apple turns loose their iPhone 5 product, and Microsoft/Nokia bring out a Windows 8 phone line sometime later this fall or winter.
Should be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
And don't forget the elephant in the smartphone room - Android.
I've often felt like tossing my cellphone when on call, but never thought of making a sport of it. I presume the next incarnation of the cell phone throwing competition is to give extra points to the phone which still functions after being thrown. Given how hard I am on hardware, I bought 4 identical cell phones when they were on sale and, as long as the SIM card survives, I can start using one of the spare phones should my propensity to break things carried on my person persist.
One thing I will never get is an iPhone as I detest closed systems. Still looking for an Android phone that I can get without a prepaid plan and that I can easily hack.
I am convinced that the Finns are our last great hope....
This and their reaction to unassimilatatble immigrants is a continuation of the spirit of Raatt Road....
I hope a few Telus-supplied phones were thrown.
Samsung will unseat Apple in time. Apple's business model falls apart under competition and competition in the smart phone market is soon going to get very intense. The new Samsung Galaxy 3 is a gorgeous phone and is selling fast. Also Samsung is way ahead of Apple when it comes to the core technology that is required for the next generation of smart phones.
Windows/Nokia is just a joke. MSFT does not know how to do a phone op system and never will. They would have to fire every programmer they have and start from scratch as the current MSFT culture still thinks bloatware is cool.
The winners in all of this will be the consumer.
Loki I agree Apple is awful if you believe in open platforms. Samaung Galaxy 3 is very nice and is hackable. Will cost you some $$$ without a plan. I got mine with a 3 year Bell plan and the phone was only $50 with various discounts applied. I have yet to find anything negative about this phone. Makes the iphone look like a last-century product.
Foobert you are correct regarding Android.
We need a Canadian version of this sport. How far can you shoot a Blackberry with a hockey stick?
