The whole point of the Demo exercise is not to convince die hard Republicans to reconsider their support. It is aimed at the fence sitters. That

In answer to Robert's headline question, the answer is, only when it suits them. I am reminded of Walter Duranty's dictum (sometimes attributed to Beatrice Webb) that, "you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs", which, of course, referred to Stalin's atrocities during the establishment of communism in the USSR.

As we all know, since the left are our "moral and intellectual superiors" and have the full weight of moral rectitude and probity on their side, or so they seem to think, the end always justifies the means. So, as necessary, disregarding the objective truth in favour of some alternative concoction is entirely defensible and reasonable, from their perspective.

It explains a lot, actually, and makes a complete mockery of the so-called "evidence-based" policy making approach that the Liberals and others of their ilk have fashionably been talking about lately.
