  1. A communist country is choking on its greed. We helped feed that greed instead of isolating it the way we did with the former Soviet Union. We deserve to feel the aftershocks.

  2. Last year I befriended a woman from China who is a single mom of a college age son. She has several jobs over there and owns about $750,000 in real estate. Yet she applied for and received Landed Immigrant status in Canada.
I politely asked her, “You speak so highly of your home country and all the opportunity there. I’m curious, why then are you & your son planning to move to Canada?”
Her answer was most interesting and something I’ll never forget: “Right now everything is fine in China. But I just can’t see this growth & prosperity lasting forever. When problems do start to arise I just don’t trust my government to look out for the best interests of me & my son.”

  3. The corruption he describes is the same as in the US and most of the western world as well. He may be moving from the fry pan to the fire.

  4. I wonder how many indebted governments will suffer fiscal crisis if the global economy returns to recession.

  5. Trying to build western style prosperity without the rule of law and property rights is like building a house without a foundation. Soon enough it will fall down on your head.

  6. Canada already has “rule of law.”
Enshrining “property rights” into Constitutional Law

Are the Harper Conservatives up to the task?

  7. I would treat AEP with caution that guy is one of the austerity-phobes poisoning our discourse.
Maybe China will be the thread that gets pulled leading to the collapse of our whole corrupt system.

  8. The thousands of outsourced US factories all have skin in this game. Many on the stock exchange have all their eggs in the Chinese basket. Wonder how many eggs will survive when the basket falls?

  9. We’re all in this one together, folks.
China knows it can’t foreclose on the rest of the world without wrecking its own economy too.
    Steady as she goes!
