Hey, no pressure:
It had all the trappings of a re-election rally: thousands packing a convention center, Barack Obama T-shirts, videos celebrating the health care law, and a wall-size banner with encouraging messages to the incumbent president."You are our knight in shining armor -- Sarah C., Norman, Okla.," read one inscription.
But this Obama love fest in Washington was not a campaign event. The nearly 9,000 gathered were teachers in town for the National Education Association's weeklong annual convention.
For the Republican teachers in attendance, the digs at their political views were impossible to overlook.
"What I don't like is the harassment going on for people to be an `EFO' -- an educator for Obama," said Maureen van Wagner, a special education teacher from Anchorage, Alaska.
According to the AP report, convention-goers were given Obama T-shirts, a teacher who expressed support for Romney was booed, and the leaders of the NEA, the largest teachers union in the US, "have been urging members to hold house parties to educate their friends about why Obama…deserves a second term."

The reason obmanation deserves a second term:
Well, he didn't give enough of an excuse to impeach him?
Slowly starting to realize if you want to start crippling the leftards, start busting the unions. You listening,Steveo?
hmmm, after careful consideration...ain't nothin to see here folks.
"Slowly starting to realize if you want to start crippling the leftards, start busting the unions"...
and if you have to pick one it needs to be teachers unions. That is a profession that has lost all credibility - well sort of like journalists, and maybe public services unions...particularly those wankers at elections Canada...
Jeepers, so many asshats to take on!
Yikes. Shades of "1984' and the Two Minutes Hate/adoration of Big Brother.
"You must love Big Brother. it is not enough to obey him. You must love him."
Step 1, Indoctrination of the educators
It's the same old story with the left. If free will does not enlighten and encourage you to support their cause, tyranny is not far behind. The only difference between socialists and communists is the former allots you a set time to conform to their ideology, while the latter just starts shooting.
Teachers with adoration for Professors , and we wonder why the kids lean so far to the left. When the brainwashed specialize in brainwashing the end result is what we see coming out of most Universities. It's the best reason to eliminate tenure before it's too late. Too many nuts at the top.
"Step 1, indoctrination of the educators."
Yep. Step two…
Sounds like Ontario.
Did you say that was the "National Education Association" or the "Alberta Teachers Association"?
Either way, it makes homeschooling look pretty damn good.
after working in private sector and raising three kids, my wife went back to school and got her degrees and became a grade school teacher.
she likes it most of the time and money and summers off etc.
but she was and remains amazed at the assumption all the loud teachers make that EVERYONE of them is a left dipper liberal progressive.
they just can't even fathom that there are conservatives in their midst.
the way she picks out teachers that might share her conservative views is to start with the ones who keep thier mouths shut...
The unions are the worst thing that ever happened to the teaching profession, just ask a real educator of children. The real hard working teachers hate the union, while the other hanger oners, love it because they never ever have to improve their performance in the classroom.
"The only difference between socialists and communists is the former allots you a set time to conform to their ideology, while the latter just starts shooting."
The version I heard of that one was "Communists are socialists who've figured out how to load a firearm."
I am not about to take instruction from someone who wears a corn hat. Time to purge the academy. I mean it. Rifle squads kicking in doors and dragging them out of their homes to be sent to camps of some sort. We don't have to tolerate teacher's unions, and now it's getting to be a matter of defending the culture, from teachers intent on turning kids into picky, tyrannical, controlling bastards.
Used to be, I didn't think in those terms.

The only problem with this theory is that the leftist deadwood already run the universities and have done so for a generation or more. The fact that there is a even small cadre of conservative and independent academics at our major Canadian universities is due to the existence of tenure and some residual belief in academic freedom.
Is tenure abused? No doubt about it, but most of the alternatives are pretty bleak as well.
Roseberry ... Absolutely ... and the fascists are doing everything they can to get rid of conservative minded profs. Happens every day that some faculty infested with leftards tries to shut up, intimidate and undermine or fire non-conforming academics.
Univesities are microcosms of life in general, efectively a controlled environment that produces rapid results when the environment is fiddled with.
Commies and their useful tools have been using it and thriving like mold and bacteria found in a petri dish. The ROT is well advanced. Making what you see now in our institutions of higher learning a sure predictor of where society is headed.
Mike James: "We don't have to tolerate teacher's unions, and now it's getting to be a matter of defending the culture, from teachers intent on turning kids into picky, tyrannical, controlling bastards."
A bit of an understatement, but yeah, that'll work.
An article in a Campbell River paper:

The city, school board and RCMP all signed onto the new Campbell River Youth Charter in an official signing ceremony at City Hall Tuesday night."
