If there are no non-Islamic artifacts to compare against, the idea that God favours the current sheikh/caliph/whatever is more plausible to the masses. Islam doesn't create. With the exception of distillation, I don't know of anything new developed in the Islamic world. They can and do maintain old wisdom, but appear to abhor new or different ideas.

It says that it is far easier to rewrite history into something more palatable to your religious/ideological views when you destroy all the evidence to the contrary. It has happened innumerable times throughout history and will continue to do so until we as a species mature. I have severe doubts we will ever do so.

I never believed in Aliens until I went to Egypt, saw the pyramids, and watched Egyptians “work”! At least the possibility is now open. If aliens don’t exist there sure as hell was some earlier civilization that designed and built them, even if they used allot of forced Egyptian ancestors as slave labor. Liberal Historians/ Archeology hides many things.

Regardless of historical or cultural treasures, they aren’t smart enough to preserve their one and only meal ticket. Try feeding 80 million people on the fruits of the Nile Delta alone today.
