  2. Romney did the impossible in the UK . . . . He united the British Gutter Press and the Government.
The Sam press hat was screaming failure at the Olympics and the same press tag Romeny read when he said it looke dlike there were some issues.
Who knew he was such a Statesman.

“Bayreuth’s Nazi Past Resurfaces in Exhibition, Casting Choices”
“Jewish musicians who were persecuted, exiled, deported and in some cases, murdered, are remembered in an exhibition called “Verstummte Stimmen” (Silenced Voices) at the Bayreuth Festival this year.
The biographies of 53 musicians who performed at Bayreuth before World War II — and there are many who were barred — are described on boards in the festival theater park, where visitors in shimmering gowns and dinner suits lingered to read them during the long intervals of “Tristan and Isolde.”
“Silenced Voices” is a traveling exhibition that has been on the road since 2006, with stops in Hamburg, Berlin and Dresden. Yet nowhere does it resonate as much as in Bayreuth, the last venue.”

“Does Yale historian Timothy Snyder absolve Eastern Europe of special complicity in the Holocaust?”
“A German soldier with Polish civilians in September 1939 during the German invasion of Poland. (Deutsches Bundesarchiv)”
“The dispute between Poles and Jews about the Nazi period can move in unsettling directions, ones that make an unhealed wound hurt even worse. Perceived insults, like President Barack Obama’s recent reference to “Polish concentration camps,” are seen by right-wing Poles as part of a plot to blacken their country’s name in the West. Some on the Polish right are also quick to argue that Poles who assisted the Nazis in anti-Jewish actions, or who slaughtered Jews on their own initiative (such pogroms occurred both during and just after the war), acted from understandable motives: After all, Jewish “treachery” had handed their country to the Bolsheviks. But the treachery is a fiction. Polish Jews were overwhelmingly anti-Communist, and the Soviets deported many of them.
The Polish role in the Holocaust had other roots, darker ones: traditional anti-Semitism and the greedy desire for Jewish property.”

  4. Daughters have a keener moral compass than do sons, eh?
My daughter berated me yesterday, for the use of the “F” word and Dalton McGuinty in the same sentence on You tube, therefore I have deleted it this morning.
His Liberals still have their heads up their asses in regards to killing the Standardbred Yearling Sales Market and the Ontario Lottery – Gaming supported Racing Industry, the second largest agriculturally oriented tax dollar producer after Dairying, in Ontario.
As an aside … if one Googles “Kishpitcha” one may follow the fate of “Lola & Lila” the two Atlanic Giant Pumkins, by a first time grower!

  6. Mitt Romney creates fresh divisions on Israel tour with ‘racist’ economic remarks:
    http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/07/30/mitt-romney-says-jewish-culture-makes-israelis-more-economically-successful-than-palestinians/
    “Racist” remarks, my foot.
Mitt Romney was simply stating facts — just as he was when he was critical of the Olympics — and the Leftards, comme toujours, como siempre, construe his remarks as unfair or racist.
That’s obviously going to be one of their major tactics, like the left/libs here, to holler “racist,” “bully,” etc. when Romney and his team simply call a spade a spade or a bad job a bad job or an economic fact an economic fact. You’re not allowed anymore to speak the truth. You’ve gotta be “nice.” All the time.
What thugs. When you hijack language, you hijack thinking. Multiculturalism has blinded us and made us deaf to reality: “At all costs, we must be nice to knuckle-dragging visible minorities.”
    Now, repeat after me …

  7. Olympics? yawn…..

“Barack Obama’s “war of necessity in Afghanistan” is now being hijacked by events in the Levant.
Cthulhu that perennial horror nobody ever seems to be able to get away from has called once more; and although Barack Obama has put him on hold, someone will take his call eventually, since he never gets off the line. But maybe America won’t take the call just yet.
As the Washington Post notes, the administration has not yet decided whether it will continue to “lead from behind” for the present — that is to say led the Saudis lead — or by opening an air umbrella over the Syrian rebels take charge of events again. President Obama will probably avoid making a decision before November.”

  9. The one thing missing from the Olympic opening spectacle – this country’s Christian inheritance
    http://www.catholicherald.co.uk/commentandblogs/2012/07/30/the-one-thing-missing-from-the-olympic-opening-spectacle-this-countrys-christian-inheritance/
    My comment on this article:
I’ve been making similar comments — without the apt suggestions of what might have been included (though I did think one of the renowned men and boys’ choirs from Westminster Abbey or any one of the Cambridge or Oxford choirs might have been included) — at the blogs I frequent here in Canada.
It’s somewhat scandalous that England’s history, steeped in Christianity, precluded the faith upon which Magna Carta and Britain’s laws and institutions are based, taking a page, perhaps, from the Constitution of the European Union’s completely bypassing Europe’s Christian roots.
Whatever else Danny Boyle may have produced, and however brilliant his vision may have been, he took the coward’s way out — probably in deference to Muslim sensibilities — when he made the decision to deep-six England’s Christian faith.

  12. Re Jonah Lehrer quits New Yorker after admitting he made up Dylan quotes: Fat lot of good that Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford did him.
Rhodes Scholarships don’t help liars, except that they give them big heads and a sense of entitlement: I can say anything I want.
    ‘Well, not this time, buddy.

  13. I have mixed feelings about Fred Eaglesmith. On the one hand, yes, he’s talented. On the other hand, holding eagles in the fire til they’re red hot and then pounding them with a hammer on an anvil seems heartlessly cruel…

  14. Well, batb, Boyle did include the grand, Christian hymn, “Abide with Me”—deleted in NBC’s broadcast. It was to remember Britain’s 7/7 and military fallen. (Nothing, of course, for the Munich victims: typical and despicable European and IOC anti-semitism.) In response to a Roger L. Simon post at PJ Media, I wrote (among other things) the following:
[Abide with Me] “a sporting anthem”: who’d know? And, yes, Emeli’s rendition was a “total catastrophe” and altogether atrocious. It’s as if, given the choice between a top-grade filet mignon, there for the taking—Westminster Abbey or St. Paul’s choirs or any number of others in London alone—and a hot dog wiener—imported from Scotland—Doyle chose the wiener: good grief!
The constant and deliberate dumbing down of our great British, Judeo-Christian culture is a sure sign of our civilization in steep decline. Fie on such corrupt and subversive global atrocities as the UN and the IOC—and the useful idiots who carry out their malicious sabotage of freedom and justice.
Here’s Abide with Me, sung by the St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rw5TtwJFIKU
This is as it should be sung, not the anaemic version provided at the Olympic opening—just along the way from this great cathedral! In the last verse, the trebles (boy sopranos) sing a descant–a very high harmony over the melody: sublime!
(There’s a Schubert “Sanctus” after the hymn: it’s worth a listen too!)
