If it turns out he is indeed a conservative then the narrative turns to be about conservatives toning down the rhetoric and what if Obama’s daughters were there you meanies. The truth of course is that neither party and neither ideology promotes going into theaters and shooting the place up. Only one side tries to say that the other side does do that however.

  17. LAS – Wasn’t the prior accused in Toronto a couple of weeks back supposed to be under ‘House arrest’ or something? Not sure about the ‘garden party’ last week but a longer sentence or the abolition of the ‘house arrest’ farce may have prevented at least one of the shootings, No??
    Whether we like it or not Concealed carry may be the only way to bring our Liberal society under some form of order.

    Basing or changing law on one tragic event with the question ‘could we have prevented it’ leads only to bad law.

    1. The tragedy occurs.
    2. Within minutes/hours one or more Leftists, be they individuals on Twitter or on a blog or members of the MSM, are either blaming conservatives directly or using the tragedy to yammer on about one of their causes, which is often gun control.
    There’s zero empathy for the victims or their families. Such people are merely props in their continued political narrative.
    Such cretins are repugnant but yet they clearly feel no shame. 🙁

  22. Hans…..Wild West violence is a myth. The crime rates were insignificant compare with today. Society was structured around family and community, the life style of outlaw wasn’t glorified in popular culture. Of course, there was civil war, political violence and local group on group conflicts, but individual crime among God fearing agrarian people was marginal.
    Today, randomness of the crime is really scary. You can not even take precautions from becoming a victim.

  33. It has been reported that NBC announced this morning that the perp is a member of the Tea Party.
    It seems there’s a gentleman living in Colorado with the same name as the shooter. He is a member of the Tea Party. He’s also 58 years old and lives nowhere near the crime scene. Without checking further, NBC goes with the story. Said gentleman has now had to go into hiding.

It’s estimated approx. 3% of the population is mentally unbalanced and even if it was only 1% it would mean more than 3 million nuts on the loose with only the most violent being locked up. There are a lot of these mental defectives that will watch the news and see this nut as a hero to be emulated. As long as the MSM gives special status to these people this cycle will be repeated again by others looking for their day under the spotlight. This type of crime should be a seperate catagory where the perpetrator is strung up in the town square and left to rot for a couple weeks. Short of that, this will continue to happen because in todays society every life is special. Not. He’s famous now, and his name will be in the news for years to come. Probably what he wanted.

  50. I can’t believe there wasn’t someone in the theatre with a concealed carry permit. What a shame. If one swinging dick had brought along a Smith & Wesson, this tragedy has only two or three victims, not 50+.
