Government funding of radical Left political groups is 95% percent of the problem. We don't need any more legislation, all we need to do is cut the funding -- I can live with the remaining 5% percent.
The funding of radicals was a bad habit instituted by the Liberals decades ago -- Liberals probably thought that they could "bribe" people to become mainstream. But the opposite happened -- now the radicals ARE the mainstream and the principle threat to maintaining a free democracy.
I'd have a hard time disagreeing with what "justthinkin" had to say. If (any) enterprise has merit, it will survive through the purchase of its goods or services by the public. Should it not have the appeal necessary to survive in a free market, it should die.
yet another "progressive" loser. He's so brainwashed by the progressive echo chamber, he can write songs about an "evil war" in a country he's never been to. He's never talked with the people of Afghanistan to find out how they actually feel about having the Taliban removed from power. Please take the time to send him a message, asking him to spend a few months in Afghanistan before he opens his mouth again. It's the least we can do.
The guy definitely has a right to say or sing whatever he wants, although it’s disgusting and immoral to think our tax dollars have helped pay for it.
I like the fact that these lefties air their opinions openly and honestly, if and when the economy completly collapses (SHTF) it’ll definitely be an asset to know who these people are ahead of time.
These affected assholes are always acting so brave, but you will never see them answer to the trumpet, nor be quick to resume the weapons of those who dropped them in death defending their so-called right to besmirch the memories of heroes. They come out only at dark and gather in dark, dank chaotic dives, for want of the wisdom and valour that needn't hide its face. This is a generation of effeminates, and the history of Mankind is rife with examples of fallen empires and whole civilizations on that account.
Sorry for this nrgativity on the eve of Dominion Day.
Here is a clip from Red Tory Review. Minister James Moore (Mr. Moore) is not really a conservative; he's a CINO.
...-
"James Moore praises the arts for uniting people, bolstering Canada’s economy
argued Mr. Moore, who has cast himself as a champion of the sector. Among his examples of Canada’s thriving arts scene were pop stars Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen (“She lives 20 minutes from where I live,” he…Globe and Mail· 1 day ago"
I would like to see not only Mr Moore response, but what is he going to do about these grants. Since I don't watch Mr Moores favorite News channel ( the cbc) I hope he has his office make a release.
If by next week he hasn't said what he is going to do, then we need to take the gloves off. Enough is enough.
The creep is, as wallyj states; from Quebec! Many oddities like this are from Quebec..the Blocistas..traitors, actually sit in the House of Commons; the new boss of the new Quebec Party (NQP - NDP) is a citizen of France! Quebec is anti Canadian and they are funded by us to say so...are we a 'suicide society'? Why does this pass?
Thank-you for posting this here Kate, we need to 'air' this in Canada, all day, everyday until 'Swan Hands', this fool and all their ilk are paying for their own folly with their own dimes.
I do care about his right to free speech. He can make all the videos he wants. The issue is whether he pays for his garbage, or if I pay for his garbage.
As of now, there's a problem, cause his hand is in my pocket, and your pocket.
****
This kid is the poster boy for socialized artistry.
In Canada, these mellow artists are funded by taxpayers who dont even know they exist. In Talibanistan, he would get beheaded for playing music, and I doubt the Taliban is fond of rap.
So what does the genius do? he spits on Canada. A self hater if ever there was one.
De-fund all these groups including the right.
Public money has no place in real Art anyway, let alone crap from anti-Canadian bigots who0 pretend to be citizens.
Oh, to be a "francophone artist", must be good, with all that "free" money. I'm not sure who's a bigger shithead Militurdi, or James Moore. How can the Government justify spending our money legislating a tribal "culture" that otherwise would wither and die. The rap/song is offensive and outrageously ignorant, but the taxpayer funding of the special tribe amounts to a sickening special status that by any standard cannot be justified. Have a wonderful Dominion Day to all the subsidized "francophone artists", must be nice to be so damn special! parasites!
Defund the arts (all of them), defund the CBC, give me those taxes back and I will gladly donate them to a local group.
That means James Moore could shut down his ministry and resign as minister. Everybody benefits except lefty non-talents lining up for government assistance.
While we are at it, lets start a defund Quebec too, I'm sick of this shit.
IIRC, we have a law in Canada which prohibits the funding of terrorist organizations. Thus, the appropriate reaction of the government should be to immediately freeze the budget of the organization that funded this POS and arrest all high level bureaucrats of the organization under the anti terror legislation. What the "arts" funding organization did was to fund the production of a propaganda film for the taliban.
This is a slow legal process and over the next few years while the matter of illegal terrorist funding is being investigated and funds are frozen, maybe some of the "artists" who are parasites on the population could get real jobs utilizing their marketable skills like serving tables. This is the perfect excuse for PMSH to totally shut off funding to the so-called "arts".
As far as this POS producing that particular loathsome work, he is entirely free to do so on his own dime as I do believe in freedom of expression. I simply refuse to involuntarily pay for someone to do it. When it comes to "rap", it's a mental disorder, not music.
Ship his sorry a$$ to Afghanistan and let him play his excuse for music for those peace loving Afghan patriots he has so much sympathy for.I would not mind at all if Canadian taxpayer dollars paid for the one way ticket.
"It" will probably get a govt. subsidized sex change also along with the welfare cheques and the free healthcare while recieving AISH and maybe even food stamps, gotta love Canada, where we pay garbage to stink it up.
It may interest y'all to know that one of the very first things the new Harper majority did was cut arts funding. Really quietly. Because arts funding is one of the Holy of Holies to the Lefties and the media, they'd all have a collective month-long cow if the CPC just -ended- all the arts programs.
I think Stevie is just sneaky enough to have let this w@nker Manu Militari "slip through the cracks" as a lovely example of what our tax-funded Canadian "arts community" is up to these days. Or it could be the system working as Trudeau designed it.
Either way, this gives the PMO an excellent excuse to reach for the budget ax again, and maybe not so quietly this time. Cut BOLDLY gentlemen!
Phantom, I really hope that PMSH is going to continue cutting "arts" funding with a hatchet. What has mystified me for decades is why leftists are so preoccupied with "art". After seeing yet another kid with depression and an eating disorder today, it suddenly hit me -- math is hard, "art" is easy.
As I ran through the list of kids I've seen with depression over the past few years, one thing that stood out is that many of them had goals of going into some artistic or musical field while failing at math. Whenever I've asked the parents about how their kid plans to pay for their hobby they go on and on about how gifted an artist they are. Presumably they can use their artistic talent to draw little caricatures on peoples restaurant bills to increase their tips once they get out into the real world. I very rarely see the kids that have an interest in math and science as patients. (Either that or they are becoming an endangered species).
What I've heard from university students who are in fine arts programs is a complete disdain for "commercial art" as they seem to feel that "true art" is something that only the enlightened in the artistic community can understand. "True art" is almost universally a commercial failure and thus depends on government funding for its production.
Contrary to the self-absorbed opinions of state supported "artists", the general population has a very good intuitive appreciation for art and can easily classify as piece of art into: Really neat and original - I wish I'd thought of that.
Beautiful piece of art.
Good technique but mundane subject matter.
My kid did stuff like that at age 5.
WTF!? Someone got paid to make that POS?
As with everything, truly new and outstanding pieces of art are very rare. Most state supported art falls into the WTF category and makes one yearn for the days of socialist realism where a modicum of talent was required to paint the determined coal miner staring into the distance thinking deeply of how he and his comrades are going to exceed the coal production quota specified in the latest 5 year plan.
As long as kids think that they can be supported by the state to produce "art", we'll have far more ignorant useful idiots being produced by schools who regurgitate socialist talking points as they are mentally incapable of checking the math in, say, CAGW, on their own. They feel inferior to the geeks who not only can do math but also have an artistic appreciation for mathematics as well as real art.
So, the solution is to totally cut any "arts" funding. People are free to support any artist they want by purchasing their creations and a few, truly gifted, artists will be able to make a living from their art. The sooner that kids learn that, if they want to survive in the adult world, they had better learn math and science the better it will be for them. Once they have a trade as a welder or cabinet maker they they can start producing works of art in their spare time.
All the government funding that is currently going into "arts" should be put into funding trade school programs to train people do some something useful.
The solution to this conudrum is to obviously cut funding, but to quelch the outrage from the Mtv change the tax code to allow 100% deduction for donations to the arts.
Oversight would come if the form of a means test to weed out attempts to fund political and terrorist activity.
Yes, would include CBC too.

One kinda gets the impression that progressives, liberal academia, etc, has a completely different definition of the word "art".
Could it be that these people feel overwhelmed by (say) math, and instead of putting the effort in, they want the easy road? (Modern art has been accomplished by gorillas and elephants, so there isnt much effort in it.)
For them, not only do they want the easy road, but they seem to thrive on the praise and approval-seeking. Even though everyone involved knows there is no reason to praise the piece under consideration.
Loki, my wife had a open window painted on our living room wall looking out on a summer field of flowers, birds and a stream and I love it especially on a snowy winter day. The artist was the bartender at my wife's local watering hole downtown.
I was talking to her as she did her painting a few years ago and she told me she is one of only a handful of her group that makes money at her field, the rest are on arts grants and she says they simply can't draw let alone paint a picture and all they can paint is "modern art".
We have a few paintings by my son from his grade 3-4 class still up on the walls and to me they look far better than anything Jason Pollock does, which IMHO is pure cheap crap. Just like the music of the same name, where the "c" is silent.
I like freedom of expression enough to support the right of these morons to make their lame video. I'd like to think that my time in the same sort of convoys and the friends I have lost in similar ambushes are worth the freedoms we enjoy.
I just wish that our own publicly funded broadcaster would let me express myself about the issues of the day without censorship; just because they are afraid someone might be offended.
But then CBC and this "musician" are both sucking from the same arts teat, so I shouldn't be surprised.
