Aaron Walker SWAT-ted - What happened tonight was a sign of desperation to silence me about #BrettKimberlin, that much is obvious. And it won't work.

What the hell is wrong with these people (not to mention that such "swatting" is a waste of resources that could be better spent on rel emergencies).
Silencing at any cost....
Kate,
reason I enjoy this blog,
they would have a hell of a time swatting you in northern Canada.
Am I the only one who find the lack of followup, in terms of publicly-announced police investigations and accompanying press releases, into these "Swatting" cases a bit curious? It's surely a serious crime to falsely report a murder in order to send a phalanx of armed officers to someone's house to intimidate them; to do it for political reasons is particularly odious. Shouldn't this be a Federal Case in the literal,non-proverbial, sense? Why is it that conservative bloggers are the only ones who seem to be up in arms about this?
I hope they find out who made the calls, and throw his ass in stir for a long, long time. Bubba needs a cellmate *real* bad.
Even though this is childish behavior by the left it could have grave consequences for the victim of the SWATting. I'm sure that this is the intended purpose, though. It would please a mentally ill leftist to use a murder-by-cop tactic to silence an enemy rather than show some balls and actually take someone out themselves. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before the NDP faithful start trying this in Canada.
Best possible thing would be to have the culprits exposed publicly.
C'mon FBI ... this is an organized criminal activity.
It couldn't hurt if tremendously successful bloggers pointed out this tactic to their local law enforcement, just in case. Please.
Robert L. is exactly right. You could seriously argue that this constitutes assault with a deadly weapon. Innocents have been injured and killed in SWAT raids before.
This is simply an intolerable state of affairs. Is it not one of the hallmarks of statism that the instrumentalities of the state are used for personal vendettas? I think it says as much about the (IMO alarming) paramilitarization of the civilian police forces as it does the depravity of the Left for using them in such a way.
I believe in Canada this "swating" would be a crime of "Obstruction of a police officer". Is it not a crime to falsely report a crime in the US? Why have these "swaters" not been charged?
EBD nails it. This is a criminal act, and 911 has record of every phone number that calls in an emergency.
Local, state, and Federal prosecutors should be investigating, and all police departments should be advised of this practice by the radical left.
EBD is right. This is a criminal activity, and as small c says, law enforcement agencies should be on this.
As history shows, the left will stoop to anything to win. So look for more escalation from them if their Khrushchev style of two steps forward, one step back is in danger of reversing and becoming a rout.
Unfortunately, these calls are placed using VOIP, they are able to make the calls untraceable to 911 centers.
Lefty isn't vio;ent per se, thy're too yellow to be openly violent - they back stab ot snipe from cover or get the leviathan state to do their goon work.
Lefty is as craven as he is antisocial.
Pragmatist said: "Unfortunately, these calls are placed using VOIP, they are able to make the calls untraceable to 911 centers."
That's true. However, they aren't untraceable to the FBI and the NSA. Ubiquitous surveillance on the Intertubes is a reality, not just a tinfoil hat fantasy.
The judge in the Walker case can know who SWATed him with a phone call, if the Federal authorities decide to cooperate. I'll be -fascinated- to see if they pursue it.
I don't think that they can trace VOIP through an offshore proxy.
It seems odd that the local Police didn't know of the possibility of this happening.
Dwight, if they can trace a cellphone call in Iraq from a satellite, I'm sure with just a little effort they can nail this SWATtastic weenie. Question is, will they?
Simple answer, because a proxy can be a dumb dump. You might have heard the joke of "I'm hiding behind 7 proxies, good luck finding me!" Well, it's kinda true. Same with VOIP calls, once you're through a proxy, it becomes difficult to trace it. Then you're getting into other problems of trying to get information from other countries. Or even from computers where the person might not even know they're being used as a proxy. There's ways to do it, but it's hard. Whoever is doing this, needs to be locked up for a very long time.
The reason why they can trace a sat call from Iraq is because it's point a, to b, to c, to d.
Though I figure that if they get enough R&PG and get a warrant for the most likely person they think it is, despite their ability to hide. They'll probably find enough cookie crumbs to tie it to them.
