Let me tell you in a few short words why I am a skeptic. First of all, if one examines the complete geological record of global temperature variation on planet Earth (as best as we can reconstruct it) not just over the last 200 years but over the last 25 million years, over the last billion years — one learns that there is absolutely nothing remarkable about today’s temperatures! Seriously. Not one human being on the planet would look at that complete record — or even the complete record of temperatures during the Holocene, or the Pliestocene — and stab down their finger at the present and go “Oh no!”. Quite the contrary. It isn’t the warmest. It isn’t close to the warmest. It isn’t the warmest in the last 2 or 3 thousand years. It isn’t warming the fastest. It isn’t doing anything that can be resolved from the natural statistical variation of the data. Indeed, now that Mann’s utterly fallacious hockey stick reconstruction has been re-reconstructed with the LIA and MWP restored, it isn’t even remarkable in the last thousand years!

Voters in 2008 knew he was black. Most of them voted for him. He carried 28 states and won 365 electoral votes. Nationwide, he won 53 percent of the popular vote. That may not sound like a landslide, but it's a higher percentage than any Democratic nominee except Andrew Jackson, Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson.

Democratic national conventions have selected nominees 45 times since 1832. In seven cases, they won more than 53 percent of the vote. In 37 cases, they won less.
That means President Obama won a larger percentage of the vote than Martin Van Buren, James K. Polk, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Grover Cleveland, Woodrow Wilson, Harry Truman, John Kennedy, Jimmy Carter and (though you probably don't want to bring this up in conversation with him) Bill Clinton.

The "Triple E" Senate is a Reform idea that was ill-conceived and would add very little to our government beyond more career politicians. This is one "commitment" that Mr Harper should walk away from.

Safe outcomes for rescuers is never assured. If you want guaranteed safety, take up tax accounting.

Actually Larry (9:28), prior to last night's selection I have since January 1st posted one (1) song from Scandinavia or any other cold, snowy, socialist country, or Russia, or the Slavic countries (that was four months ago), so I don't think it's at all accurate to say that my musical selections "tend toward" those countries; if it seems that way to you, it's probably because those very infrequent songs are just so darned catchy.
