MSNBC's Rachel Maddow writes off the Fast & Furious scandal as a "paranoid delusion of the conservative movement and the conservative media machine."

The caring/sharing Left: Liberal rag publishes photo and address of Congressman Allen West's house.

"While there is nothing illegal about what Lambiet did….it is highly irresponsible for him or anyone to have done so considering that Congressman West’s life is threatened on a daily basis and has had to used armed personnel to accompany him wherever he goes."

God it's weird.

I've always thought of myself as a conservative. Rule of the law, respecting others and all those sorta libertarian rules. All sudden I'm the progressive one.

I want change! Unions, they had their place they did their job.

Progressive government has had it's place and has done it's job.

Now it's time for change. Get government out of my Life!

Please!

"Rio+20 shows UN ‘impotence’: analysts"

"Rio de Janeiro, Jun 24 – The outcome of the Rio+20 summit provides further proof that the nation-state system is failing badly in tackling global environmental threats, say analysts.

The UN’s Conference on Sustainable Development had been billed as a once-in-a-generation chance to overhaul an economic model that had left a billion people in poverty and imperiled the biosphere.

But veteran observers who watched the 10-day event drag to a close on Friday shook their heads in dismay.

To them, it was a fresh failure by the United Nations system, after the near-disastrous 2009 Copenhagen climate summit, to respond to eco-perils that are now approaching at express speed.

“It’s a demonstration of political impotence, of system paralysis, and it makes me feel pessimistic about the system’s ability to deliver,” Laurence Tubiana, director of a French think-tank, the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI), said in an interview.

“The multilateral process today is not delivering the urgent action we need,” WWF’s Jim Leape told AFP in an email."

"*The Apocalypse of Modernity

"Evolution and Conversion and Battling to the End by René Girard

René Girard

History, and increasingly the mere daily record of events, are together apocalyptic, laying bare human nature for what it is primordially before the agonizing laboratory of the millennia creates the Christian society that its beneficiaries, swiftly taking it for granted, petulantly reject that they might go “forward” into a liberated horizon beyond the one defined by the Gospel. “Progress” names that particular folly. A blood-drenched folly it is, beginning with the religious wars of the Seventeenth Century and reaching fullness with the mobilization of the whole society fomented by the Jacobins and institutionalized by their superman-successor, Napoleon Bonaparte. From the guillotine henceforth, modernity blurts itself sanguinely in the Commune, Leninism, Stalinism, Hitlerism, and resurgent Islam (Jihad), which continues belatedly the sparagmatic trend of the late and unlamented Twentieth Century. Yet despite the academy’s authoritative three-decades-long declaration of Dionysiac “postmodernism,” despite the polysyllables of doctrine-inebriated intellectuals, modernity in its lynch-mob vehemence has not succeeded in realizing its rainbow utopia. No fulfillment of the destructive quest heaves in prospect. Modernity spirals dizzyingly to its destined abyss, dragging with it those who know full well its madness but who find themselves sucked with the lunatics into the maelstrom."

"Warren to introduce Obama in Boston"

"Massachusetts Senate hopeful Elizabeth Warren is set to introduce President Obama in Boston during his New England swing, she tweeted a short while ago:

"Big news: @BarackObama will be in town tomorrow, and he’s asked me to introduce him at one of his events.Time to work on my speech!"

It's a major appearance with Obama and at a time when Warren appears to have put the issue that Sen. Scott Brown has hammered her over for months - Harvard having promoted her as a Native American - behind her. Obama adviser David Axelrod gave her a word of support during his own Boston press conference earlier this month.

"New Hampshire town asks Obama campaign to pay for costs of upcoming visit"

"DURHAM, NH – A New Hampshire town is asking the Obama campaign to foot the up to $30,000 bill for the president's upcoming campaign stop in their city.

MyFoxBoston reports the town of Durham is asking Obama's campaign to reimburse the estimated $20,000 to $30,000 needed to fund additional police and fire safety services during his Monday visit to the University of New Hampshire.

"Community leaders do not believe that costs associated with the campaign should be borne by local taxpayers," the release says according to MyFoxBoston.

City officials say they usually would foot the bill for a presidential visit, but since this is a campaign stop they believe the Obama campaign should have to pay for the extra security."

"Giant Mushroom Cloud Appears Over Beijing"

"The China Daily is reporting that a giant mushroom cloud resembling an atomic explosion is being seen all over the capital city of Beijing on Sunday. The video of the cloud has already appeared all over YouTube (see below). There are multiple videos of the haze that have been filmed from skyscrapers and from the ground, some going back as far as June 14th.

The Chinese government, in reacting to the red and green haze, is warning residents that they should stay inside according to the French Press on the scene.

The Chinese government has denied that there has been any type of industrial accident that has led to the haze. This week, The Economic Observer noted that the police in Beijing have arrested two internet users who blogged that the haze was being caused by a massive chlorine leak at a chemical plant or a huge explosion at a nearby steel refinery.

The official government news agency, Xinhua, is saying that the haze and mushroom cloud is being made by residents on the outskirts of the city burning straw. They have also denied any type of industrial accidents."
