Cue "it's a family affair"...
The Squeeze vs. The Spawn..?
Trudeau has the name advantage. Actually that's all he's got.
So the choice is the f'd or the after f.
“Our families have always been very separate . . ."
Not true on at least one occasion.
The land is strong.
At this rate, the next leader of the LPC could end up looking like the kid from Deliverance.
I'm just going to puke right now and avoid the rush after the Canadian MSM drone on and on and on an on about the family connection.
So it is a choice between a constitutional lawyer and political gadfly from Toronto with a connection to PET and no experience running any organisation or a pompous twit, who speaks of himself in the third person, with a BA in education and a connection to PET and no experience running anything.
Colour me unimpressed.
Ooops, forgot to mention that I would rather have the 32 year old paramedic in charge of the country, if it were to come to choosing between these three. He at least has experience in the real world and has made life-or-death decisions.
I think Margaret should run too...let's get them all together...what a gong show!
Well, it's all becoming way too Anna Nicole Smith TMZ confusing for me already. We're obviously in for yet another round of self-absorbed public spectacle. And so soon after Bob "bull----" Rae announced he wasn't running.
Deborah Coyne? I thought Pierre Bourque was agitating for Andrew Coyne to run.
Deborah's the mother of Justin "the minister is a piece of ----" Trudeau's half sister? But the families don't speak. This is a bit of back-channel family history I don't really think I need to know about. But would she have a claim to running without it?
And Andrew Coyne was saying the other day that Martha Hall Findlay's paper on supply management was just the sort of policy the Liberals needed? And Richard Gwyn seemed rather titillated by it too.
Forgive me, but I was under the impression that the Liberals and Conservatives were both trying to rebuild in rural Quebec against the NDP. So, Martha has just tilted the whole Liberal race with an anti-supply management position; we know the NDP will be for supply management at all cost. So Stephen in the middle, by entering the TPP negotiations but defending supply management, already gains the advantage by coming off as the moderate one who will only trade supply management for a strategic advantage for Canada and Canadian agriculture.
My old high-school principal had a saying: "You can never get in trouble by saying too little". The question is, who's really debasing Canadian politics? Stephen Harper, as the media claims, or people that can't resist the lure of the microphone?
Loved how the talking points of Ms. Coyne's policy website is the enlargement, aggrandizement and MORE state-run control of our tax dollars.
Liberals are all about expansion...of "our" money becoming "their" money! Nothing there that will instill a sense of pride and accomplishment for the free-thinkers and hard workers of freedom in this nation. It is all about the strength of the government.
Good luck with that!!!
The Slut vs. The Get. God have mercy on us.
What was the last report on Deborah's pup? Last I heard her ma had sent her to university in the States, to study to be a bankster like great-uncle James, late of the Bank of Canada. No surprise. When medicare runs out of other people's money ma probably reckons Sarah's bankster racket will help keep her from having to join Pierre a while longer.
Pray Sarah's real plan is to find an American husband, the better to never have to hear the name of her accursed sire again--and put her mother on notice that she's had her reward.
"as the party of “bold, principled” national leadership on important public policy questions."
Does this mean that they would continue their previous policy of looting the treasury secure in the knowledge that the media will turn a blind eye.
The record of previous Liberal governments may have been "bold" but it certainly wasn't "principled".
Is that a shark jumping over them in the photo?
Who could possibly believe that Ms Coyne was Trudeau's mouthpiece?
Apparently the State did have a little business in the bedrooms of the nation.
Al the basking fish, way too funny / I hope so!
What with Chretian, Rae & Martin all related, doesn't this take "Keeping it in the familly" a bit far.
The familly party, or is the the party of the familly, AKA the familly. Familly Compact 2.0 anyone?
Classy comments from SDA resident misogynists like Dicky, as per usual.
Deborah Coyne's problem is not that she had an affair and child with PET. I doubt that anyone besides geriatric Trudeaupian socialists and XINO (Christians in name only) social conservatives GARA.
She may run into two real problems. First is friendly fire, the LPC may be hesitant about going for yet another untested academic - twice bitten, thrice shy.
Second, she in fact does seem to be out-of-touch with working Canadian concerns. Case in point, the carbon tax. Her defense/argument in favor of the tax is "The consensus is amazing, from environmental groups to the corporations, around a carbon tax that is across the country, levied on producers and consumers...I’m proposing a more effective way to bring to bear the cost of using fossil fuels." (from Geddes in Macleans). Good luck selling an "expert approved" tax to suburban commuters, rural areas, parents traveling with kids in sports and clubs, workers in resource industries, manufacturing, automobiles, petrochemicals, shipping, airlines, agriculture etc., etc. Giving it back to the provinces does not help because many voters do not have high regard for provincial politicians either. Besides if the provinces need more revenue then they can increase their PST (a broad-based consumption tax is less damaging than a one that penalizes productive activities like those listed).
I'd have no problem with Liberals and voting Liberal, if they just didn't, you know, act like liberals.
Why is it that when I read this, I started hearing banjos?
The linked article is, of course, overboard in politeness upping the nausea factor.
Shouldn't the title be "Trudeau's mistress in Liberal Leadership Race".
Yes, LC...it's not about her past. I really don't care about the Libs race. The media continues to whitewash and it smooth over.
But writing "Trudeau's mistress" would be un-Christian, bluetech, something the Globe always puts first.
"At this rate, the next leader of the LPC could end up looking like the kid from Deliverance."
"Looking", maybe. But that kid had talent. I'd like to see Justine rule at duelling banjos. Or anything. (I mean, I wouldn't like it. His uselessness amuses me. It's a turn of phrase.)
LC Bennett - Dick is either a troll or a lunatic. Nobody knows which.
I wonder if Maggie still get's invited to the New York Ranger alumni games?

I don't know about that, but I think she has the lifetime gold plated back stage pass for all Rolling Stones concerts.

So is it Deborah or Andrew Coyne for the LPC leadership?
Oh well, they could play "Duelling Banjos" and call it a "Coyne Toss"...but they better not use a penny as those are being phased out.

"if the provinces need more revenue then they can increase their PST"
Alberta doesn't have a 'PST', Buckwheat.
We'll just have to cut transfer payments to the parasite provinces.
I hope SOMEONE can unite the Liberal Party, and get them back to Opposition again.
I'd rather have the LPC in second place threatening to form government than the current O-O.
The LPC consists of a variety of political types, and lots of capitalists/businessmen,whereas the NDP is a pure communist bunch that hate everything about capitalism. One term of NDP federal government, and we'll go the way of Greece.
I'll take the specter of Justin Trudeau as PM over that of Thomas Mulcair any day.
So they have a choice between Trudeau's idiot brood mare, and idiot son. Lose-lose proposition, who cares what they do?
"I'd rather have the LPC in second place threatening to form government than the current O-O."
I'll have to agree. Although the image of Liberals forming government is deeply disturbing, the spectre of an NDP government is the stuff of nightmares.
"Alberta doesn't have a 'PST', Buckwheat."
No shit, Sherlock, but with the rate of spending by PCs and falling oil revenues I wouldn't be surprised to see a PST in the future. I wouldn't even rule out Redford trying for a carbon tax. Sometimes she seems similar in temperament to Julia Gillard. Deborah Coyne, too.
Here's a test you can try for yourself.
Find a female with no political awareness.
Show her a photo of Trudeau and ask her if she would vote for the person in the picture.
Do nothing else ... do not mention his name or any other political matter. Just show the picture and ask the question.
See what people with common sense and clue are up against?
Who will be next to claim their right to the throne of the Trudeau Party...? a petrified Trudeau turd...? A pair of platform shoes once worn by the old gargoyle himself..? Maybe a set of disembodied sideburns... maybe a WW1 german helmet... perhaps one of Fidel Castro's many illegitimate children, no, not Justine... Maggie...? I don't know... but the leadership of the cult of Trudopians is sure getting interesting.
They can't be serious?
What are they trying to do,invite ridicule?
""Looking", maybe. But that kid had talent."
I hate to break it to ya Black Mamba, but the kid wasn't really playing. He was able to fret the notes with his left hand, but another kid (who could play), was behind him and had his arm stuck through his sleeve, and was doing the actual picking.
Okay,okay..... quit shoving, I'll do it:
"She's got the best teeth I've ever come across".
Happy now? Sheesh...
@Edward Teach, aren't you describing that picture of Justin standing behind Bob?
but with the rate of spending by PCs and falling oil revenues I wouldn't be surprised to see a PST in the future"
I'd love to see Red Ali do it just to hear bartinsky and coach cry because that would be all she wrote for the Edmonton Progressives they voted for, Buckwheat.
Nothing would seal their fate like a PST would.(you'd have to be an Albertan to understand)
Oz; a small tax, Pst Gst or even a Bst, just for you, makes no difference to me, so wait a long time for cryin time, but thanks for caring.
Justin: just what Canada deserves.
