Colorado Fires

Earlier this month, I spent a wonderful week with friends (Giant Schnauzer breeders and members of the SDA nation) on their beautiful mountaintop property near Florissante, CO. So far, their area has escaped the Colorado fires, but they've been waiting hour by hour for evacuation notice. Blogger Michelle Malkin and her family have been evacuated, though at the moment their home is still standing. Jerry, Vicki, Harry, Cindy and all of our readers in the regions affected - our thoughts are with you all.

So Obama got rid of all but nine water bombers for the whole US. At least getting burnt out shouldn't bother Democrats. Might save foreclosure.

Having just lived thru the forest fires in SE Man..one of them less than a mile from home,I know the anxiety that this creates.Ours was nowhere near the magnitude of the Colorado fires, and I can't imagine the stress, the heartbreak, and yes,the anger over the situation.Thankfully we lost no homes here, and the waterbombers were a thing of beauty.Prayers to our neighbours to the South.

I'll bet a million this Colorado neighbourhood has strict local ordinances against property owners cutting ANYTHING like old overly mature trees, brush, or clearing away the duff layer to expose mineral soils or making permanent fire breaks.

Live by the statist, die by the statist.

We have had a overabundance of rain. Wish we could send some in that direction.

Calling for 80% chance of rain today in that area. Hope they are right for a change.

Oh ... and by the way ... it seems the great Obama's policies of placating the environmentalists has actually made things worse.

Saskatchewan's Norhtern Air Opp. Planes have been there for 3 weeks . Our son and his crew are flying there today for a crew change.

So Obama got rid of a bunch of aircraft necessary for fighting fires on Federal land, at a time when Federal spending is astronomical . Seems like Obama cut the muscle, and left the fat in the budget.

Of course his entire budget has been designed to enhance his chances for re-election.

Just imagine what he has in store for a second term, when he will be free of the need of even the pretense of leadership.

It would be interesting to know the fire management policies on Federal lands. Given how Obama nailed the tanker fleet, I wonder if other fire management budgets have been cut.

An investigation is clearly necessary. Let's write a letter to Eric Holder demanding justice. Oh... never mind.

But seriously: The contract cancellation, a total cluster pluck starting with placing tax payers aircraft into a private company's hands for free and awarding an additional 30 million dollar contract with no bidding process. Brett Gourley, the CEO of Aero Union must know somebody in the GSA.

The problem of big government oversight:
Jones said that was when the National Multi-Agency Coordinating Group, which is composed of federal, state and local officials, decided to bring in the military tankers.

The Forest Service falls under Agriculture lead by Tom Vilsack (D) former presidential candidate appointed by Obama.

Colorado is a swing state. When the KoolAid evaporates will they just lick the salts?

We appreciate the assistance from Canada. I believe the Australians have sent teams as well.

Do we have the freedom to shout "fire" in a crowded state?
