Guilt: It’s Not Just For Jews and Catholics Anymore.
The animal rights movement that emerged in the ‘70s was changing, too. I, myself, would have been ripe for the picking as literature flooded my mailbox exposing with sickening evidence the horrors of vivisection. But the movement morphed; It became polarizing, unreasonable, and increasingly radical. Where it had once appealed to our pathos, it devolved into using our old friend, guilt. Guilt for eating meat, guilt for wearing fur, riding in a rodeo and eating Kentucky Fried Chicken – all deeds vulnerable to criticism as we learned more about their respective industries.
But guilt for owning a purebred dog?
Welcome to the new elitism.

I wonder how these people feel about biological versus adopted children.
You don't suppose this is some sort of projection? Are purebred dogs under attack because they remind protest types of racial segregation. Are purebred dogs the new white men?
It is a logical evolution that the Disney-Suzuki mind-f..k changed from sentient animals with human characteristics that would be better without humans to all non-plant species equivalency with Man. Along with all the other child abuse that masquerades as curricula in public schools, for kids locked in urban environments, it isn't easy to experience reality.
I don't understand how anyone after spending some quality time with chickens for example, could mind killing them. For larger mammals it's a lot harder to pull the trigger or swing the axe but life as we know it would be hypocrisy to evade it.
Purebred (or not) cats and dogs owned by most people enjoy better lives than many humans in parts of the world.
What do I know, I grew up making a whole lot of small animals dead identical to the picture above!

A good parody of the HSUS and their funding

Riding in a rodeo while eating KFC? I'd pay to see that!
I wonder if PETA and others consider how they're fighting against biological diversity? The only thing keeping the purebreeds as separate species of dogs are the breeders that love them and take on the task of preserving their genes. If spotted owls require massive sacrifice by us to save, why should rare and endangered species of dogs be any different? It's not like the puppies aren't cute and cuddly, it's that PETA hates anything that has involved humanity in its creation.
Interesting article by Susi Szeremy.
I would be interested in PETA's other division, PETOF. "People for Ethical Treatment Of the Fetus".
Oh, wait! I forgot. There is no such division. They have never once made a statement of concern or outrage for an unborn human as compared with dogs, cats, rabbits and cows.
Not once.
i wrote something about this a few months back.
It was a post mocking those people who proudly call their pound puppies,"rescue dogs". This,IMHO,means that they want to be congratulated for being caring citizens.I just think that they are pretentious posers and act accordingly. Hey,you take your fun where you can get it.
Don't get me wrong,I admire people that adopt pets, but poking holes in inflated egos is almost irresistible.
Ha.
Which is why people ask "Is that a Ridgeback cross?" The ridge being 100% give away to those who knows dogs.
I proudly answer:" No, she's a 100% Rhodesian Ridgeback from a top championship line."
That's usually after people have been gushing at me over how pretty/handsome/pleasant/powerful she looks. And she does. And she 100% exhibits all the breed traits.
There is good reason for purebreds.
Most where cultivated for specific skill sets.
Like sheep dogs, hunting dogs, guard dogs. You know what I mean. To loose that heritage would be a shame.
Leave it to the greenish to pollute even the animal Kingdom with their insanity.
Typical Marxist doctrine now added to pets.
Perhaps there time would be better served stopping female humans from being aborted?
But don't purebred German shepherds and Labs make some of the best guide dogs for the blind?
Oh, I forgot that the radical left's agenda is a purely personal one, to satisfy their desire for vengeance against the society they hate, not actually ameliorate the condition of others who suffer.
Of coure, if this quote from the link is true
"PETA, which has killed over 25,000 animals in the last ten years, is so radical a group that it has alienated many of the fine shelter and rescue workers I’ve come to know in the last year."
then PETA's chief concern is not animal welfare, either.
One is not talking about guilt but shame or neurosis. Guilt is feeling bad for something you did or didn't do. Shame is a neurotic feeling of discomfort or perceived inadequacy or wrong-doing. Why feel bad about eating chicken? I paid for it, I prepared it, I ate it. It's the circle of life and adding to the economy. No problem there.
Haven't they got past the "pure bred" part and now they're on to making you guilty for owning -any- dog? Or cat, hamster, budgie, mouse, turtle, fish...
They're frickin' loony.
Phantom is right them being loony.
I went outside and discussed this with our purebred collie Dolly and her response was to squat.
What's the difference if it's purebred when he owns a dog slave?
Owning animals should be outlawed, and laws instituted requiring these humans to serve the socially disadvantaged animal. This dog must be assigned a lawyer to represent its interests.
As Ayn Rand said, if they can control your behaviour through making you feel unearned guilt, they've got you by the short and curlies. (I'm paraphrasing a little)
The Lexicon says it's the leftists' version of Original Sin. Even here they don't create anything new, they just take over.
