The Tolerant Left

A Corner Brook, Nfld., mother who wanted to lay a wreath at a workers memorial was prevented by a local labour group because she’s a city councillor, and the city recently laid off four firefighters.

So Canada is run by unions, what's new.

It would seem only right if the UNIONS were denied taxpayer money and/or jobs...Fire them ALL and then they can justly pay for thier own events...

It's imperative that she understands her dead kin are not as equally dead as theirs.

I'm a Union member..the twit that did this is a political wannabe..likely a dipper...I deeply resent the comparison.

Giving raises to the Public Unions is the Eqivalent of devaluing your currency.
As for this Lady, are the dead now owned by the Unions? Its a good excuse for public packing of firearms if only to dis-wade cowards like this.
Who haven't thew decency of a snake with advanced herpes of the brain.

Bemused: So how does it feel to have your leaders and comrades acting like scabs? Always amazing to watch the Socialist and Commies eventually let their colours show, and when events such as these happen, it is laughable (not really) to peer into the brain-dead scheming which goes on under the cover of the dark.

They can't be that stupid naturally, they have to plan to be that stupid.

The "brotherhood" is tribal gang mentality. Eventually they go to war and the body count rises.

Goofballs. Slither back under the rocks you crawled out from!

if you gave most union leaders an IQ test, they would fail

Intelligence has nothing to do with being a Union Leader, it is their sociopathic tendencies which are their most useful trait.

Greed for power, money and control are their trademarks, while they scr3w the "little members" for union dues and getting re-elected.

Look at the hatred unionists hurl at Ford, the liberal media needs a serious boycott of it's advertisers.

Politics is show biz for ugly people, union politics is show biz for ugly, stupid people.

@NME666 Union leaders don't believe in testing! It involves jars or intelligent thinking, both of which would end in failure.

"I respect unions, but I don’t respect them protesting at something so solemn”

I don't. I WILL respect them the day they stop protecting incompetent or lazy employees at any cost, when they force those same employees to do their share or be booted out, when they stop sending Union members dues to communist Countries to assist their corrupt regimes, and finally, when they cut out their anti-capitalism,and realise that without capitalism,THEY wouldn't have jobs for their members.

THEN, I'll respect them.

And in this case, they should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm in St. John's as I write this, and don't get into a cabbie with an old timer. They are still bitter over joining the union.

On the positive note, they do seem to speak better English here.

Dare I say it but unions have their time and place to be useful but putting petty political out at an event like this is truly pathetic. It makes all the poor working folks who have to belong to a union in order to work, look like idiots. The Politburo wanna be aught to be shot.

Q. Are there not enough pro-worker laws, in every jurisdiction in this previously left wing country, to protect every worker from every evil company and employer?

A. Yes

Q. This being true, does this not therefore make Unions completely redundant and of no value?

A. Yes

In B.C. we are currently "experiencing" labor striff between the teachers union and the govt. As they can't go on strike they have discontinued all thier volunteer work. And I find it ironic, that teachers, who profess to be so much against bullying are really the biggest bullies of them all. Anyway the public has now stepped in to fill in as volunteers for the teachers who won't do it. There seems to be this "perception" that teachers are the only people who volunteer for kids sports etc. Well, probably 80 % of all parents, volunteer in one way or another and that represents a hell of a lot more people than the teachers. So basically, the teachers can go to hell.
One teacher said that he works long hours, its a tough job-sniff-sniff and he wondered where they would be without a union. Well, probably the same place REAL professionals are-like doctors, dentists, pharmacists, engineers, architects etc-Getting paid a lot more money with fewer hassles because you don't have the blood sucking unions in the middle. Look at the so-called professionals who are represented by unions-like nurses, teachers etc. Always whining, bitching and going on strike.

Unbelievable. There are some people in this world that have zero common sense. Let me guess, if Brad Wall went to lay a wreath at the memorial for the Estevan coal miners Larry Hubich and Bob Bymoen would have a fit? Probably.

quintessential unionboy.

anybody got this dipwad's ph #?

Speaking of unions, did anyone else catch the whiz kid demands of the "new" cabbie union in Edmonton? Yeah they want lower insurance rates and reduced debit machine fees...

Ya know, 2 things a business has the least control over. A$$Hats!
