Direct comparison of the chronology that Briffa chose to publish against the full chronology that he withheld makes the point clear:

In essence the URALS regional chronology was suffering from the divergence problem — the widely noted failure of some tree ring series to pick up the recent warming seen in instrumental temperature records, which led to the infamous ‘hide the decline’ episode.

All tree rings indicate is what years things were "just right". Why? Not at all...
So our 'educated' elites want to lead our society off the economic cliff because some dufus thinks that tree rings are indicative of climate change? Well except when those tree rings don't indicate climate change of course.

McIntyre is a gem, isn't he? He (and many others) needs to be better recognized for the work he has done to weaken the foundation of the AGW pseudoscience.
It won't make a bit of difference to believers, of course. Every piece of science that 'proved' catastrophic AGW could be recanted by the scientists and it wouldn't matter. I am wondering how long the scientific societies will wait before they bail - taking with them the ability of the believers to say all of them agree.
