Right now Politico is telling us that the private lives of private citizens should be investigated and any dirt discovered is worth reporting. Since those who write for, edit, run, and own Politico are in true positions of power and responsibility, doesn’t that make their private lives fair game along with the lives of all journalists?
Sounds fair.

you will hear howls of outrage when this starts happening. they will say we are trying to silence the press or other trite garbage. but they must be treated like everyone else. they are not gods!!!
Whatever for? Anybody who isn't aware by now that most mainstream journalists are treacherous, greedy, philandering scum is willfully blind or a blithering idiot. The rest is commentary.
In any case, the bilge written by 99 percent of them (bought and paid for by servants of the Father of Lies) is all a jury with a will to see justice done would need to send them to join Judas Iscariot for aiding and abetting enemies of Christendom. The Lord will see to the punishment for their other sins, never fear.
"...doesn’t that make their private lives fair game along with the lives of all journalists?"
Why yes, yes it does. These guys have had it all their own way for too long a time. The Internet makes a perfect forum to vet them, reveal their personal behavior, document their political activities, and generally just embarrass the hell out of them every time they lie for The Cause.
On the other hand that will mean the -only- people in "news" are shameless perverts and famewhores who revel in exposing themselves. Right now that's only the weirdos on camera, later it could be the off-camera types too.
Can't we all just get along?
Ann Romney's horse has been vetted - we can all sleep soundly if the horse gets that 3am phone call...
That only works if the cultural environment's moral compass isn't spinning like a pinwheel in a hurricane.
Well I guess it could work if someone exposed a journalist that hunts or goes to church.
Yes,I've always wanted to see the media Reporters outed, ever since they quit being Reporters and became activists for the Left.
I don't mind opinion pieces, but when they outright lie,and create stories out of nothing, they go too far.
In a community in which I lived a few years back, a developer was trying to put in a small strip mall on the edge of town.
The environmental activists opposed it, but were having little success until a local newspaper Reporter wrote a story, complete with photos, showing that the area to be developed was home to a rare type of snake.
The development was halted immediately. A few months later, the person who had discovered the rare snake, admitted he had bought the snake in a pet shop hundreds of miles away, and had planted it only for the photo-op. He hinted that the Reporter was fully aware of the fraud.
Funny how this didn't lead to charges by the Crown, but certain groups and activists seem to have different standards of law applied to them.

Though I suppose there's always the danger that we'll discover these folks are just as boring in their privates lives as they are in their public ones.
Exactly Dmorris, they are not Journalist they are Activists, so I reckon that makes them Jactivists. Seeing as how they have jacked the truth from the people.
,
Superb idea. The media are the enemy, far more than the political opposition. I've taught many of them over the years, and shallow special-pleading appears to be the only thing they have learned in their university studies.

More likely we will discover their faults mirror those they project on the people they are trying to destroy. Lives of small minded, weasely, cheap-ass commoners with no class and no personal honor, lives of small time back stabbing, greed and opportunism.
What other kind of person than that tries to make owning horses a smear? And who goes after a candidate's sick wife in the first place? Anne Romney's got ALS, that's a f-ing terminal disease horror show. These guys go after her because she spent money on some horses. That's class, baby.
So yeah, I'd be very entertained to see some of these no-class dirtbags get their boring yet still dirty laundry aired on YouTube.
Here, here!
And we should start with the CBC and Peter Mansbridge's salary, which they refuse reveal even though he is paid by taxpayer dollars. The CBC has gotten away with tighter rules of secrecy than Canada's spy agency CSIS. Surely there must be a whistle-blower in the ranks of the CBC who would be willing to accidentally "leak" something as straighford as the guy's salary. Ironically, the CBC itself gets away with leaking classified Government information all the time, with impunity.
"What's good for the goose, is good for the gander".
I would say the left have a lot more to hide.
