How does an asshole only serve 17 years of a 50 year sentence? Someone pulled some strings in the system to let this guy out.

Kind of reminds me of the movie plot for "Demolition man" staring Stallone. Where the bad guy is intentionally let out of jail to reap havoc for a particular politician.

Kate's point is well taken. Conservatives tend to be somewhat impractical, assuming -everybody- will react with moral outrage the same as they do.

In my sad experience most people can't even show up on time for things unless there's money involved. The moral outrage of the masses and a buck fifty will get you a coffee at Timmy's.

You show them how this business is coming out of their pocket, -then- they're interested. But not on Friday. TGIF man, got to paaaar-tay.

Friday of a long weekend? You're going to have to release the T-virus and nuke Raccoon City before anybody's going to pay attention.

Well ... I don't believe that anyone was really considering the timing ... just get it done and get on with it. This may have some impact on the immediate response ... but we are in this for the long haul.
