The Children Are Our Future

"Go peddle your papers, kid."

I must confess, as a well educated engineer, I just cannot understand this obsession with a fraudulent cause. The thing seems to have a life all of it's own. It's a cult, pure and simple, but I am astonished at how long the perpetrators of the fraud have been able to get away with it.

The only possible reason *must* be that children today are not taught to think for themselves in school, indeed they are discouraged to think for themselves. That to me is the more serious problem, as it does not bode well for the future if the young generation can be so easily hoodwinked.

Al Gore is definitely going to hell unless he apologizes immediately.

In navigating the road to adulthood, the task is learning how to discern reality from the fantasy utopia of Disneyland.

Someone here took a wrong turn along the way.

A review of the scientific method is in order, and a study of geology would be helpful, too.

Not enough woodsheds in the world.

I loved the part where the kid all of a sudden became an AGW alarmist after watching "An Inconvienient Truth" twice in one night. Love 'em or hate 'em, Al Gore knew the same thing Hitler and the Communists knew. Indoctrinate the young.

I think it's high time someone did a really scary movie about government debt, pandering politicians, socialist takers and the true beauty of free markets and free people. Make it really glitzy and 12 year old friendly. Market it so that it's that taboo film that their nasty unionized teachers don't want them to see.

Look at the forces lined up against sanity: most teachers, environmentalists, the complicit MSM, Hollywood, etc... How are a few dusty old books by dead Austrian guys and a long forgotten history of what went in to founding the US supposed to compete with that.

Little Harry Potter, in the photo, should be able to wave a wand and get results. Maybe if he hadn't been engaging Moldyvort in all those epic wand fights with all the electricity, explosions and energy used up he could have cured global warming.

Child abuse is child abuse and someday this kid will put his legal training to use suing the school system and his parents for the brainwashing he got from Al Gore. No doubt the taxpayer will pay that bill too.

A win by these Eco Freaks, the new Jesus Freaks, would be the perfect gift to Obama who has now evolved into someone who would turn over and take it. Heck, I'm sure he's evolved enough that he'd love to give it as well. The fear that the Federal government will simply roll over has many others intervening.

"He went on to found an organization called Kids vs. Global Warming, and traveled the world..."

And we all know, travelling the world is the best way to end global warming!

Since Al Gore is the root cause of this lawsuit he should be made to testify on the validity of his brainwashing movie. Since everything has pretty well been disproved he should be sued for the billions his escapade has cost the economy. The charge of treason for destroying a country is within the realm of possibility.

TJ says "I must confess, as a well educated engineer, I just cannot understand this obsession with a fraudulent cause."

I say... The education system all over North America has been indoctrinating our youth with all that enviro freak crap for so long you would be hard pressed to find more than a handful of kids without that mindset.

The best part is these little idiots will be the ones who will grow up jobless, stupid, angry and useless.

Because when you are so full of yourself like these little twerps, you deserve all the self inflicted life pains that you can generate.

Life is a series of lessons.
Lessons will be repeated until learned.

I'm still trying to figure out what gives these little bastards standing to bring suit?

I have grandchildren presently being indoctrinated into the AGW theories and "solutions" as they are being educated by a single-minded school system. I have told their parents (my children) what I would like to see the schools do:
1) Clearly define the AGW theory and its roots.
2) Teach the children that the top of the food chain, the paragon of animals, the present day humans use fossil fuels as means of providing ALL the things that make children's lives comfortable today. Teach that present-day mining, transport and manufacturing processes are the SOLE reason that they will most assuredly reach adulthood. Teach them that these practices have decreased their infant and chilhood mortality rates in countless ways. Teach that the aid we send to those less fortunate will not get there, in these times, without dispensing a bit of CO and CO2 into the air.
3) If the Al Gore's and David Suzuki's of this present world are to be given credibility, then stop the scare tactics in our school system. Instill in children today the desire to keep the comfort but do it better and cleaner...with real teaching of real science (if it still exists). If change is required, it will have to come from those after us because the economic costs of doing right now would put today's children at risk of living like their 3rd World cousins. Give the children the tools of intellect to make the changes slowly...with the realization that to drop all pollutants right now means an immediate end to all the comforts they have come to enjoy.
4) Finally, ask each child indoctrinated into the Gore/Suzuki mentallity to compose a 2500-word essay explaining how their mobile phone/MP3 player/game console was manufactured and how the food they ate today got to their shelter.

I hear crickets.

"Al Gore is definitely going to hell unless he apologizes immediately"

Too late for apologies. Gore's greedy pursuit of wealth via a fraud of unprecedented scope has cost economies billions in dollars and who knows how many lives.

Upon final judgement there will be a very uncomfortable, exceedingly hot little cubicle right next to those occupied by Idi Amin and David Suzuki. This cubicle will have Al Gore's name on it.

I have difficulty condemning teachers for pushing this crap since they are motivated only by stupidity. Stupidity of this magnitude, while exasperating, is not illegal.

You have me wondering what our 18 year old is going to do when he's no longer cute enough for teen stardom. It's not as if the environmental kooks will be needing his services for much longer. The financial crisis has been bad enough for the cause so far, if only because it drove global warming off the front page. After the ten lean years (and they are coming, even if we abolish the welfare state and fractional reserve banking tomorrow), you won't hear another word about global warming. It's a folly hungry people can't afford.

As for our teen idol, I foresee ostracism, unemployability, destitution and death from liver failure or suicide (not necessarily incompatible) by age 45.

Part of their strategy is that on the days they take the witness stand, they will wear pink shirts,a bold move that may work.

Anyways,James Hansen has an op-ed in the NYT that says developing the oilsands will basically kill the planet. Yes,we're punching above our weight again.

"If Canada proceeds, and we do nothing, it will be game over for the climate."

Kate,
I remember you like the time lapse videos. Here comes one from London (via CNN).

Tom B.

Yes everyone must drastically their CO2 consumption.

Well not these kids PERSONALLY of course. To be an effective environmental activist one must jet about the continent in air conditioned comfort to spread the green gospel. Can't get from Ventura California to Washington D.C. on horseback now, can one?

Thank goodness he didn't listen to Helter Skelter twice in a row.

I had to stop reading after the first line in the article. Anyone that becomes a zealot after watching AIT is devoid of reason. It's hard to believe he doesn't know how to or doesn't care to use Google for a mere five minutes and so be informed.

Thanks Gen. Lee. I needed a new keyboard anyway.

Helter Skelter or An Inconvenient Truth can both mold and shape a malleable mind. And what minds are more malleable than those of the young?

No wonder the left would like to see the voting age lowered.

"Sometimes I do ask myself, like is there really any chance to solve this problem?" Loorz acknowledged. "I feel a lot of despair sometimes, but when I talk to Dr. Hansen, he says there is still hope, so I have to trust that he knows more than I do about this."

Wa wa wa Waaaaah!!!

A couple of months in the army would fix this little twurp.

He should watch "Act of Valor" twice in one night.

The oil sands and western Canada will feed Canada for the next 100 years. This kid is one that should starve. No gas for his car, no light for his room,no food for his belly. That will show where life is at. But by all means stand up and bite the hand that feeds you.

Teen-agers are bigger children. Treat them as such.

When or if they grow up, THEN give them a place at the grown-ups' table.

TJ: " ... children today are not taught to think for themselves in school, indeed they are discouraged to think for themselves."

Don't blame only the schools and teachers, TJ -- though they're a big part of the problem. Blame parents who don't have a clue what their kids are learning in school, who leave their children's education solely to the education (sic) system. Blame parents who are too busy with their own careers and concerns to give a damn about -- or to pay attention to -- what their kids are learning, as long as they're out of their hair for a good part of the day.

Most parents take little or no interest in what their children are actually being told about history, geography, or social issues. They leave it to their kids' teachers to "educate" them, very seldom checking out the content of their kids' curriculum. That's a huge problem, because it's given carte blanche to the progressive Leftards of which the education system is full.

Parents need to wake up and get involved in their children's education, otherwise this wholesale brainwashing of our children is going to continue.

Must have been a toss up for Kate to post this under either "The Children Are Our Future" or "O, Sweet Saint Of San Andreas...Hear my prayer"

I'd like to think this can only happen in California but I'm probably wrong

"I have difficulty condemning teachers for pushing this crap since they are motivated only by stupidity. Stupidity of this magnitude, while exasperating, is not illegal."

I have no difficulty at all. Back in the days of WW2 such conduct would get them a contract to cut pulp wood the hard way for the duration....That is if they didn't face the gallows.

I'd say bring it on but I can't see Obama or the EPA putting up much of a fight. Only if interveners get involved will popcorn futures rocket. A court of law needs facts, CAGW has none.

It is a real pity that their parents didn't make them watch "The Ten Commandments" a couple of times.

Public education Dumb by Design.

Seems to me that as litigants they will have to call witnesses and Al Gore will probably be called. Then the defendants will respond with their own witnesses. When the defense makes Al Gore look stupid, would not that establish legal grounds to go after Clown Gore and Suzuki etc?.. Sounds like a big mistake on the AGW side!

Why would school boards, whose huge pension funds are heavily invested climate change/environmentalism, under the guise of responsibility, include any scientific data in their curriculum that could potentially reduce the value of their pension funds?

Each BC school district, who publicly complain of not having enough money to reduce classroom sizes etc., pay hundreds of thousands of dollars per year in carbon taxes yet don't utter a word of complaint publicly about this significant, unnecessary expense.

Premature Reader Tip:

Eduardo Saverin, co-founder of Facebook, to renounce US citizenship to avoid taxes:

I applaud him for his choice. I just wonder how he voted in the last election. He has no record of political donations on OpenSecrets.org

As environmentalism continues to evolve into a fully-fledged religion, we should not be surprised that it should begin to inspire its own children's crusades.

Scary kids. If they only had a brain ...

The kids aren't to blame. They are simply being used, with the connivance of their "watermelon" parents, as a sentimental front for some shrewd old enviro-geezers. This is the 21st century, eco-loony version of old Soviet and Nazi propaganda posters showing impossibly winsome youth in uniform (Young Pioneers, Hitler Youth, etc.) declaring their wholehearted and eternal devotion to the Great Cause. "It's all for the children," don't you know?

My apologies to all commenters: I do not know why my comment, above, posted thrice.

It is not just teenage people who no longer think for themselves. It is most of the population under 35. The Facebooking and Twittering types [I call them FnTwits for short] who use the hive mentality to form their own opinion.
