The Preakness

America saw a rivalry not just between two horses, or even between two brothers, but between two worlds. Arthur, despite his own Thoroughbred breeding, came to represent the outsiders of the sport, while Easy Goer, bred by the great Claiborne Farm — now operated by Arthur’s brother Seth — and by 80-year-old Ogden Phipps, a pillar of New York racing, was thought to represent the racing establishment.
Sunday Silence duels Easy Goer in the 1989 Preakness.

Post time for the the 2012 running is at 6pm Eastern.

And another win for Derby winner I'll Have Another.

Probably a good time to tune in, but post time (if all goes as planned)is 6:18
FYI, they are showing all the races from Pimlico live right now on "NBCSN", which will switch to "NBC" at 4:30 leading up to the Preakness.
Two retired jockeys are running the show and giving their insights, very interesting.
I have the channel on just to give them a higher rating cus it is deserved.
Sorry for the nitpick.

He did it!

What a race!

It would have been a very profitable day, if I hadn't spent as much on the $1 million guaranteed Pick 4 at Pimlico today, hitting 3 of 4 legs got me zilch.

Great race, A triple crown winner?

What a great aerial shot, with the shadows of the horses/riders alongside the horses/riders.

Dogs are a man's best friend. So, what are horses? When I see them running like this I think what strong, noble animals they are.

Kudos to the jockey, too. He did a masterful job of reigning his horse in until just the right time to give him his head.

The video has been blocked by Hearst.

Anyhow, good for I'll Have Another.

Horses, cattle and yes, even pigs will be friends with you if you treat them like a friend. They also appreciate your singing to them.

'Singing to them, Ken K.? Why not? What songs do they like to hear?

Here's one I've been humming to myself the last little while. I figure horses, cows, and pigs might like it, 'maybe put them to sleep at night:

Sure pigs like to be sung to. I used to go out to the pig barn, back on the farm in Saskatchewan, and sing to them every Sunday afternoon. They were always very attentive.... okay, well, at least they were polite.

Congrats to I'll Have Another, apparently Reddam's phrase after chomping down on his wife's home backed cookies.

When viewing the video on Youtube, up popped a great commercial from Humane Watch about the nefarious legal doings of HSUS. Very funny stuff.

You can see the video here under the tab Lawyers.

I find it amusing that every Canadian media outlet keeps referring to I'll Have Another as Canadian-owned like it's some kind of badge of honour. The owner hasn't lived in Canada for over 30 years. Too bad Conrad Black doesn't own racehorses.

The Belmont is what separates the champs from the chumps. We know the horse can run but can the horse last? Time will tell.
