"The Liberal government points out it has increased the average pay for Ontario doctors by 75 per cent since 2003 to about $385,000 a year, even higher for specialists.
"More than 400 doctors in Ontario are billing over $1 million a year, and 20 earned over $2 million in 2011."
Boo-friggin'-hoo.
Well voting is a little more pleasant than trying to douse the flames from the molotov cocktail...
What is in that 'Grecian Formula' that makes you run around with your hair on fire?
As for the docs making $385,000...at least they don't worry about affording the bananas for their morning bowl of fruit loops.
I know I haven't had anywhere near a 75% pay increase...
Cheers

One good thing about it - I think (hope) that any doctor shortages will be more deeply felt in places where the population voted for Dildo than in areas where they didn't.
Slavery Lover:
"Pay" is a misnomer here. That's the doctor's gross billing, from which he pays all office expenses, staff, etc. My GP shares his practice with another, and the two split the costs of a nurse, a receptionist, and a part-time records clerk. They pay industrial rates for electricity, rent, etc. He figures his share is about $100k per year, and he doesn't bill $385k by a long stretch.
I'm not holding any tag days for doctors, but when a freakin' ticket collector for the TTC is getting $28/hr ($55k/yr), I think a doctor who nets $250k a year is not only earning his pay, but is UNDERPAID.
I'v given up arguing the case for reality. I now concentrate upon protecting myself from the future colision with reality. It's ienvitable. It is reality and the dreamers will hit the reality wall, and the 7o year experiment with "niceness and comfort" of the Western bureaucrats will hit the same wall as the Stalinists and Maoists did.
I know syncrude truck drivers making 250k a year! 385k for a doc? Cry me a river Dalton!
The new Ontari-owe, courtesy of Dolton the Squanderer. And we we can thank Ontari-owe voters for giving him the nod.
Jean Charest has less testosterone in his balls, than a bag of marbles:p-u-s-s-y.
If you think doctors won't leave Ontario you are crazy. A family member of mine is an ER doc and he has chosen his jurisdiction based solely on pay and tax rates. You make so much cash as an ER doc you can escape frequently for nice vacations.

In Ontario, it would be wiser to be looking at reducing top administration salaries. No way should any of them make more than most doctors.
KevinB - there's also malpractice insurance.
And let's not forget that this would probably not be necessary if it weren't for that little Orang ambulance issue.
"Premier Dalton McGuinty said he wasn’t worried that Ontario doctors would suddenly start fleeing to the United States or other provinces such as Alberta because of the pay and public respect they get here."
They won't find it in Alberta either, we don't want Ontario's Liberal weenie doctors here, they are a big part of the problem there. We can make our own thank you very much, Toronto can start looking after its own trash for a change.
Maybe, but there is no bailout coming from Albertmagne.
Bet the docs wouldn't be so put out if they could bill directly for services instead of being mandated by the govt through OHIP.

Ironic, that the guy that decided to alleviate the doc shortage in Ont the solution was to offer more money to attract them to the province, now claims the same docs won't leave for another jurisdiction.....for more money.
If it brays and wears clown makeup.....

What does it say to you that your employer not only is cutting your pay, they are demanding you give back money they already paid you for work you already did.
That is what McGuinty did. Mostly to radiologists.
This is not more than lying sacks of sh!t politicians braying against a higher income group for the benefit of the ignorant public that vote for them and the stupid members of the press.
By the way, Toronto, 13 professional hockey players on the Leafs made $2 million (or much more) last season. Ottawa had 8 more.
Just sayin'.
