Arabic mandatory at New York City public school

An upper Manhattan public elementary school will be the first in the city to require that students study Arabic, officials said yesterday.

Beginning next semester, all 200 second- through fifth-graders at PS 368 in Hamilton Heights will be taught the language twice a week for 45 minutes — putting it on equal footing with science and music courses.

...“Arabic has been identified as a critical-need language,” she said, citing students’ future “career trajectories.’’

...Mohamed Mamdouh, who teaches the pilot program, said, “Soon, Arabic will be a global language like French and Spanish. These kids are like sponges. It’s amazing to see their progress.’’

Westerners are supposed to follow the local customs when living in the 'cultural areas' you describe...women often can't drive vehicles or wander around by themselves or wear comfortable clothing (lest some pig of a local who can't control his urges assault them because of their own wantonness, of course..or more likely use it as an excuse because he only preaches morals and doesn't have any of his own)

you want to control the actions of visitors and ban drinking, dancing or enjoying themselves, then be prepared to take up the local customs when you emigrate..or stay home and fix your own bloody messes instead of bringing them here with you.

Western civilization doesn't include the burqa, favouring a book some child molester wrote over the law made by all of the citizens (although, you're more then welcome to read it and follow it if you wish, we don't hang people for apostasy here) and if anyone from another 'culture' wishes to adopt our ways we don't mind...but we have rules here about not covering faces in public, treating women as equals and not beating them with sticks if they let a wrist slide out from under a bag or go out by themselves and no amount of "but it's my CULTURE" can circumvent that...period.

I suspect that a large majority of women from other cultures who prefer to wear their accustomed dress like to do so for a sense of identity the same as I don't mind wearing a kilt from time to time, but nobody in my family ever FORCED me to put on the tartan or threatened to kill me if I took it off...that's the cultural difference you'd best get used to...the difference is that most other 'cultural dress' doesn't conceal one's identity and that is what has to be addressed.

It's a perfectly rational decision. The mall owner is willing to please its customers (shop owners) with a ban on masks, but only to the extent it isn't likely to expose them to human rights complaints.

The solution here is not to complain to or mock the mall, it's to continue to rail against all of the so called "human rights" tribunals.

So the requirements of hijab are never oppressive or restrictive in any way; here are the requisites of hijab or proper Islamic attire for women:

1. It should cover her whole body except face and hands.

2. It should be loose-fitting.

3. It should not be transparent or revealing.

4. It should not be an attire specifically worn by men only.

So long as your attire fulfills the above conditions, you don’t have to worry. Remember Allah has not revealed religion to make life difficult; rather it is intended to make it easy and comfortable for us.
