Let's All Chip In For A Bus Pass

The Gated-Community Community strikes again;

A psychiatrist treating Vince Li has asked a federal review board to let Li take escorted trips into the city of Selkirk, Man.

[...]

The Crown did not object to the request at today's hearing.

ride the bus
bite the dust

are memories that short?

Maybe the good doctor could invite the gent to come live with him. Then I would feel better about the good doctor's judgement, but then again I don't think anything could make me trust this doctor's judgement.

mike

Make that a one-way plane ticket back to China and I'm sure the money can be found in Citizenship and Immigration Canada's budget. Cashier the idiot who gave Li a visa and use whatever was in the idiot's pension fund to cover his fare.

Oh yes---let the Chinese embassy know that Canada is not a dumping ground for China's lunatics.

Then make damn certain the "doctor" is the only passenger and that he spend every second with Li while he is out.

Oh great, I fish on the dock in Selkirk, instead of watching my line, I'll have to watch my back.

oh, c'mon... you decapitate a single sleeping bus passenger...
and all you knuckle-draggin tea partiers get your panties
in a bunch.

If Li had been a limousine driver we'd never had heard from him again.

Hey, let's not lose our heads over this...

Psychiatry is too inexact for any practitioner to claim a person is "cured" or will "never do harm again". The language of psychiatry is full of weasel words and phrases, "not likely to","unlikely", "may ",etc.

It's only slightly more credible than astrology,so why does the justice system trust the OPINION of a group that suggests he's not dangerous any more, and allow him out?

Are conditions in the psychiatric facilities so overcrowded they are willing to let a person in Li's fragile state out on day parole? They must be as crazy as he is.

What's wrong with these doctors? Where are their heads?!!

Schizophrenia is such a terrible disease, one in a hundred Canadians is living with the disease and they and their families and friends are living with the symptoms of this disease.

I pray no one else who stops in here has a family member struggling with the illness, especially if their family member does not follow the medicine regimin. My wife and I have been blessed with the diligence of our Daughter's compliance in keeping healthy. Cheers;

Be a shame if something might... happen... to him.

Rhetorical question: If Li had committed his crimes in China instead of Canada, how many days do you think it would have been between commission of crimes and execution of condemned criminal? (My guess is 2 weeks max.)

I'm not saying I approve of or agree with the Chinese "justice" system, but neither do I approve of the American, Canadian, Brit systems where it's almost the norm for bleeding heart leftard judges to feel more for the poor darling criminal than they do for the victims or society as a whole.

How soon will the victim be released from his confinment? That's the question I want the psychs & the crown to answer before they try to justify letting monsters like this loose into society.

I'm fairly certain that half of the problem of our injustice system is that our crown prosecutors are pussies.

Give the guy a break, he's promised not to eat anyone this time!

So who's Li's escort going to be? What if he bites his/her ear off, or worse? Will the RCMP intervene or will it be a standoff?

This is crap. I suppose they say he's taking his meds and is no danger to anyone. When you've done what Vince Li did -- with no thanks to the "law enforcement" officers who stood by while he cannibalized his victim -- I say you stay in the Big House for a long, long time. No perks. No day passes.

Are any of the wages he earns going towards Tim McLean's family? I sure hope so. They're still paying for their groceries and other living expenses; Li's getting his room, board, and entertainment, not to mention his medical and dental expenses, for free. Where's the justice in that?

(Has anyone else noticed how many of our horrendous crimes are being committed by comparatively new Canadians? 'Just saying. 'Just noticing.)

Absolute lunacy.
He should be incarcerated for the rest of his natural life. Period.

Hey come on now, it's not like he's white and used a gun.

If you don't think poor disenfranchised Li should be free like Omar Khadr with millions in apologetic government compensation then you are a raaaacist.

At least Hannibal Lector did not discriminate against making Judges his Sushi. We peasants just don't appreciate insane killers like the legal profession.

There should be a personal liability bond placed against all those responsible for the release - in case of personal injury and property damage done by a person in their custody they must pony up damages - PERSONALLY!

It's past time we made the champaign class bureaucrats personally responsible for their irresponsible actions.

"There should be a personal liability bond placed against all those responsible for the release"

Ha ha, they won't even let you carry a gun to protect yourself from him if you decide to take a walk in the park. If he breaks in your house and you shoot him, you go to jail - For Life.

They won't even post his name or let the community know that your little kids shouldn't take candy from the nice Asian man next door.

The Liberal Progressive left is killing our society in increments; they know what they are doing.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw the other day:

"Vegetarians taste better - 4 out 5 cannibals agree!"

Are the people recommending release also taking their medicine?

And further, who is minding the cuckoos nest?

Cheers

There will come a time when guys like this will be shot on sight. Then listen to the left cry. Be nice to criminals long enough and there is those that will take the law into their own hands.

Come on, show some compassion. Li is just regular guy trying to get a head in life.

What are the odds he eats Karla Homolka?

Another example from today of the justice system failing in Manitoba:

http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/Judge-rejects-Crowns-bid-for-maximum-sentence-for-rapist-151439925.html

Quelle surprise! Judge Morris Kaufman was a well know bag man for the Provincial and Federal Liberal Party, and was a regular guest on CBC Winnipeg`s local news as the designated Liberal for round table discussions and election coverage prior to his appointment to the Bench.

Let Li take bus trips... with the Crown.

People with mental illnesses often quit taking their meds once their condition stabilises. Once off, bad things start to happen.

I'm sure they kept that in mind.

Recently, a schizophrenic, psychopath was released on a one-hour day pass down east. It took him less time than that to beat a man to death.

When an innocent citizen is robbed, raped, maimed or murdered due to government policy, does anyone in government lose their job or even lose some pay?

Normally, in business mistakes have a cost. This is the main difference between government and the private sector.

@Al the fish

From your link: "We are no longer accepting comments on this story as most submissions did not meet our terms."

I'll bet.

The Canadian "Legal" System knows very little of Justice.

It is a system which uses precedent as the determining factor in prosecution and sentencing, instead of taking the value and merit of each case brought before the court. The lowest common denominator is almost always used when deciding these cases and because we are loaded with appointed and activist judges, instead of judges advanced because of merit and common sense, we will continue to have the laws of our land weakened and diminished, empowering the criminals each and every day in our land.

I am all for rehabilitation, but with any person who is schizophrenic and on medication, they are more often than not going to drop their medication prescriptions without supervision because they believe they are better and no longer need the medicines. The recurrence of descending back to previous states are almost guaranteed.

Without almost 24-7 supervision and the attention to detail of the drug regime, this man has the making of a walking time bomb.

That is, unless this is a demonic induced act and then his only way to freedom is through spiritual means, cause there ain't no drug that can set a person free when spirits are involved. Only God.

But, the medical system wants only to treat and manage, not allow people to get healed.

@Matt Hillier

The Winnipeg SUN hasn't posted an article on the sentencing yet, when they do, the comments should be scathing.

Passshaw, that's old hat to the gatekeepers at the local Halifax nut house. Letting killer nut jobs out for an unescorted trip to frolic and kill the citizenry is normal for here.

I always like where the shrink puts in an "out" clause like "if he/she takes their meds" so they can deny any responsibility when the inevitable happens.

We didn't get much info on the Greyhound slaughter and feast did we?

I think he's an Uighur.
I know there are Uighur muslims.
Are all Uighurs muslim?

Just wondering.

From a quick google:

The vast majority of Uighurs are Sunni Muslims, but the practice of Islam is tightly circumscribed. Government workers are not allowed to practice the religion.
.................
Uyghurs embraced Islam in A.D. 934 during the Karahanid Kingdom. ... Heavy- handed state repression of all activities associated by the Chinese government ...

So, the odds are that's he a psychotic muslim. Now, there's a good combo.

I guess we have to wait until his daughter draws a gun in school, then we can lock him up.

Did none of the other bus passengers try to stop this animal? Surely there were enough people on that bus including the driver who could have restrained this guy or put him out of commission until the police got there.Instead it seems they all just ran away, are Canadians that gutless these days that they would turn their backs on this type of situation.

If Li had been in China and done that ... you would never have heard about it.

However ... it happened in Manitoba and the RCMP were too afraind of having to do paper work to pull out the gun and put three or four rounds in that psycho.

Cowards.

"If Li had been in China and done that".....He would have a bullet in his head by now, and his family would be out $1.00 for the bullet.

Chinese justice.

The link from "member" in my comment at 4:04 was not set up by me. Wouldn't know how to do this.

Hoping this was an attempt to provide helpful information and not a slippery smear. Also remaining confident this was not an action by the controllers of this blog; Cheers;

He won't make it far in Selkirk outside the facility unless he wears a disguise. I'm surprised they didn't request trips into Winnipeg where less likely to be noticed.

If anyone thinks phsyciatrists know what they are doing, it would be in your best interest to watch this :

Thank-you for the link perterj. Excellent run down of the psychiatric scam that has ruined the lives of so many so called 'troubled people'. If we have a functioning brain we are all 'troubled' at one time or another.

Most people with brains that fail to allow the feeling of peace or satisfaction benefit from smoking cigarettes because tobacco connects the distracted searching for comfort with the natural dopamine in the human brain. For this reason, most schizophrenics smoke. Other people, with severe brain injury find relief through tobacco. It is a natural plant and good for something! No wonder all the drug dealers (big pharma) hate tobacco and marijuana, it would cut into their profits!

Like most people here I cannot understand why the Mclean family should be further tortured with the face of this Li creature in the news. Most Canadians were so shocked and filled with revulsion over that ghastly, bloody murder and cannibalism that we could no longer look at a Greyhound bus without seeing that image. The people on the bus were likely shocked and immobilized by their shock so they stood there horrified and paralyzed; we live in such a safe incubated society that we have not prepared ourselves for such horrible emergencies. Hopefully, we have learned how to attack such creatures now so that this incident will not happen again. The police who attended the bus when all this was taking place should have shot Li and relieved Canada of his unthinkable presence. The police were cowards, unworthy to wear the uniform.

The best solution, IMO, is to send Li back to China; as suggested by Dick Slater. Canadians should not be asked to look at Li or consider compassion for him. Speaking for myself, the Mclean family have all my compassion, there is nothing left for Li. Just get him gone and never mention him ever again is my advice. The so called dr. can move into Li's cell and stay there or whatever, just keep quiet about that horror and all that happened that unspeakable night.

As batb concludes: no perks, no day passes, no light of day, no mention of him at all - inside the cell forever.

Tragic (to say the least) for the guy who was murdered.

Schizophrenia is a terrible disease. You lose a leg, people will open the door for you

You lose reality because of a chemical imbalance, you may be judged harshly

I can't imagine the terrifying world in which schizophrenics live

@me no dhimmi..."psychotic muslim"...being a little redundant...after two tours in Afghanistan...I just assume all muslims are psychotic and liable to go off (literally and figuratively)any minute. Remember that muslims are the last population of human beings that actively practice consanguinuity (first-cousin marriage).

The difference in this case, Erik, is someone losing their leg due to an illness loses just that; where on the other hand, the other was an illness that was the cause of someone else losing their head. If you want to "open the door" to the latter, you go right ahead, m'kay?

I agree with Mike Sr and Erik Larsen. Schizophrenia is a terrible disease and the vast majority suffering from it are harmless. The problem occurs when someone, like Li, has done grievous harm to others. The best predicter of future behavior is past behavior. This isn't to say that Li will kill someone again, but it means that the risk is such that he simply can't be trusted to be at liberty in general society. Continuing to take his medication simply can't be guaranteed and his behavior under that circumstance is akin to tossing a hand grenade into a crowded room. One can't predict whom it will kill or severely injure, but one can be reasonably certain it will kill or injure someone.
There needs to be a special facility where people like Li can be kept humanely, in comfort, with recreational amenities and the chance for fulfilling interactions and activities, but above all, secure so the general public is not put at risk.

Pre fronal lobotomies work wonders. It would also put Li into position to run for the NDP or Green party.
