I would prefer a Western style moral compass, based on tolerance, common sense, ethics and good examples, as opposed to one based on antiquated ideas of God and Devil, threatening with violence and mayhem.

Peterj, it isn't a "moral compass" if it is enforced by law. How does you know what sort of morality exists in the hearts and minds of citizens who are just following orders? Morality involves choice.

I don't listen to commercial radio these days, at all, one of the reasons being so I don't have to listen to Lady Gaga. (Sirius Area for me, All dance tracks, no talking. Yes I know its partly owned by CBC, don't care, the no-talking part is awesome.)

This kind of pussification of police action (or more likely covert cooperation) in the face of religious violence is not a good sign. Its the SAME THING we have to put up with in Caledonia with the Mohawk Smuggler Society, same thing happening in Quebec with the Stoopids rioting. Voltaire would be hauled in front of the HRC and would be a poor man before they were finished with him. We no longer have the option of questioning morality in public venues without the possibility of being punished financially and are being forced to accept a moral compass many of us find defective.
