It is a sad day for our country and our society when a that headline is even allowed in a newspaper.
Years ago people were ignorant about how a fetus grows in a woman's body. It was beleivable that the fetus was not a baby.
Now we have all seen the pictures of the stages of a preborn's life. We all know it is a viable human being.
This proves that our society is morally bankrupt and very, very selfish.
I'm a strong believer in freedom to choose therapeutic abortion, but even I'm kinda scratching my head at linking this right to Mother's Day. It's either in bad taste, or weird, or both.
Just sitting here on a beautiful night in Edmonton with big fire going and my son serenading the neighbors on his guitar. 14 years ago if I would have snuffed him all this would be lost.
I know that having kids is not always easy my other son has aspergers syndrome and will probably live with us his whole life, such are the fortunes of life if you do not risk the defects you do not get the gifted musician,
People say having an abortion is no big deal. Well maybe not to them but it sure is to the child.
She's either a complete narcissist with no empathy or in serious denial.
She's the primary breadwinner, yet her entrepreneur druthers is away much of the time. She's clueless - possible she will wake up one day to discover her away druthers entrepreneur has been screwing other women for the entire marriage and she's been paying for his enterprising activities. heck he may even leave her so he can be the father to his impregnated other.
Tomorrow morning my daughter and I will make pancakes for my wife and we will enjoy every minute of it. We're not rich, we're carrying some debt, and things never work out the way you want them to, but they'd for damn sure be a lot worse without the kid in the picture. No amount of wealth is as satisfying as having a family to love.
"Because if there’s any day to be thankful for abortion access, that’s the one. That’s what I’ll think about when I’m woken way too early by wiggling weasels crawling on the bed to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day."
Did she really mean to write, that on Mother's Day when her kids come to see her, she'll be thinking of abortions?
I also felt sick to my stomach.
It is gross, and why do it before Mother's Day when there will be thousands of women who aborted their babies who will be mourning the loss of the child they won't know this side of Heaven.
All we can hope is this dreadful headline will become news across Canada and millions will be as disgusted and nauseated as we are.
I call BS on the whole premise of the article. If this woman is so happy with and secure in her choice she would not feel the need to emote on mother's day. A day which has nothing to do with her. This is her insecurity talking.
SHe will never know whether she made the right choice since she will never know what parenthood is like. She knows this and wants other people to pat her on the back and console her on the one day of the year that she has no business opening her mouth about.
Promoting abortion on mothers day is like, well i can't think of an analogy crass enough right now. All I can say is: keep telling yourself that lady.
I'll be damned if I'll let a leftist pro abortionist steal the beauty of Mothers Day. All women (except in rape) CHOOSE to have sex, knowing full well the consequences. Once pregnant, that is the consequence. I often wonder how loud women would scream if men were the ones who got pregnant and chose to abort. Anyway, Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there, from a Mother who is reminded every day of the gift she gave to her wonderful children; and the gift they give me daily.
But where is the "science"? Has there been no advances in our knowledge since Morgentaler got abortion laws overturned in 1988? Do we not have a better definition of the moment when a fetus becomes a person in the 30 years since?
I thought the left was the "pro science" side, and the right was full of deniers about science.
Las and any of the other celebrants of freedom to choose:
In London Ontario there is a place called Bethesda which is a charitable org run by the Salvation Army. The purpose of this org is to help teenage mothers that choose to have their child.
Currently due to a funding crisis, they where slated to close, however as of yesterday one of the children of a young mother decided to contribute in a meaningful way to keep the center open. You may have heard of him, some young fella called Justin Bieber.
My point is that even though this Obama style story attempts to celebrate the last resort, others are working to make sure there are other choices for those that do not make that choice.
If a woman decides she doesn't want to bring a child into this world, man's laws in this country have established that no person shall prevent that act.
However I don't think it's something to be celebrated.
Because I didn't abort my two sons. Not even after my husband lost a job while I was 6 months pregnant with son #1 (without much in savings or the benefit of unemployment compensation) and I lost my job when 8 months pregnant with son #2 (thanks, economy!).
We've been poor. So poor we were bankrupt, basically. But never in my wildest dreams or deepest, darkest moments did I think, "Gee, thank goodness I have the freedom to kill my kids."
These people disgust me.
Remind me again why I should even entertain the thought of tolerating or accommodating these people...
Linda says, “It’s not just sluts who aren’t using birth control [who have abortions], which is the prevailing attitude. That is not the reality.” Add to that the “weasel” comment and she and her husband “high fiving” in celebration of the loss of their own child—what immature and narcissistic idiots they sound—and I’d say the word, “slut[ty]”, perfectly suits their minuscule brains and altogether absent hearts.
ward to LAS[t Caught Thinking]: “- work backwards from birth and tell me when the baby ceases to be a human being. Please pinpoint the moment.” Excellent comment. Thanks!
I wonder if the LAS types of this world ever consider why barrier methods are used to avoid pregnancy, and what it is that gets joined together in a petri dish. It’s a SCIENTIFIC FACT that, if the parents are human beings, human life begins at conception.
(Hmm . . . it’s just occurred to me that Linda and her husband do, indeed, sound more weaselly than human. Whatever they are, they’re utterly pathetic and don’t deserve to be parents. God bless their poor child. RIP.)

Entrepreneur? 'Sounds like there's money. Carrying debt? Hmmm ... sounds like most people. No family in town? Linda and her husband are lucky their mothers and fathers didn't feel as they do about having children.
I have no problem with people who choose to remain childless but that comes with the responsibility to make damned certain they don't "accidentally" become pregnant when they feel so strongly. Such lame excuses for terminating pregnancy should not be acceptable criteria for abortion, they definitely should not be covered by public health.

Let's put abortion in perspective.
40 million abortions since wade vs roe.
That's more people than Canada has today.

What's almost funny - except for the subject matter - is that the column is so over the top that it could have been planted by cunning pro-lifers.
Wait until you see Newsweek's latest cover, featuring Obama with a rainbow halo (yes, yet another halo) with the caption "The First Gay President," and the cover story written by one Andrew Sullivan, the gay activist with the strange pre-occupation about which Palin birthed Trig?
Newsweek really thinks they're helping Obama get re-elected. Talk about delusionary...
Both instances show that liberals / leftists live in such a bubble that they have no idea how much they can dismay and even disgust "ordinary" people when they inadvertently reveal their fantasies.
The truth is revealed, big surprise. The pro-choice side has always rallied around the need for abortion in cases of rape, teen pregnancy etc. Now they are bold enough to boast about the fact that they dodged the wiggling weasels waking them too early. This makes me sick.
At least it isn't yet illegal to have kids. For the rest, we must offer ourselves some cold consolation
