Because big corporations won't wipe your nose, your eyes or your arse.

Mybe the fear is based in the fact Pepsico has its lawyer continuing to play sematics over allogations Pepsi has been caught using aborted fetus livers as flavor enhancers. Shades of China!

Is it just possible when big Pharma, Big Banking, Big Agra, Big Media get big enough they act like godless commie tyrants - just like big government?

"Big" anything is not a friend of the general population theyr serve their own interests and when they get so big they are largely unaccountable that's when the fecal matter hits the rotating oscillator.

Decades of socialist propaganda in the media, the schools and our universities has deeply imprinted in the minds of average Joe citizen the idea that government is like a big fuzzy security blanket. Who wouldn't want more of that, especially since the costs of big government generally appear to be borne by a mysterious entity known as "someone else". Corporations just don't hand out stuff for "free" like government.

Then there is the equally ludicrous notion that citizens "control" their own government via our "democratic" system which amounts, in practice, to little more than mob rule. Hence we hear socialist fellow travelers explaining the spectacle of rioting students in Quebec as a mere "exercise" in democracy.

They know, with big corporations, they have to be industrious, productive in order to enjoy the 'good life'.

Well, of course leftism resembles a demonic cult. That's because it is a demonic cult concocted by the Father of Lies, a mockery of the true universal faith designed to lead astray those who might, if exposed to the true faith, run the risk of actual salvation. The false prophets and hierarchy of leftism, like those of Islam and the Roman church, are richly rewarded for service to their master with the pleasures of this world---and not just power or even glory. If, after visiting the Vatican (Mecca's far too dangerous!), you want to believe that the communists improved on the Borgias by being truly uninterested in luxury, go to Bucharest and take a look at the palace Nicolae Ceausescu was building for himself while his people starved. It's almost impossible not to. If you can't get away, go do an Internet search for satellite photos of Kim Jong-Il's palaces.

Anyway, the left do not fear all corporations, just the ones that won't help them do their master's bidding. They need bank-confetti to finance their schemes, for example, so Big Finance are never molested in any meaningful way. Big Media, of course, was co-opted a long time ago. Of course they will (some of them), if you pay them to do so. The difference is that they don't forcibly take your money, then wipe whether or not you want them to. Oh, and they'll probably wipe much more efficiently too.

Dennis and ricardo say it well. It is our educational system that has created this. Stalin's infiltration that began in the 1950s and 60s has worked well and we see the children and grandchildren of this brainwashing coming right out into the open now.

The left thinks that government should own and produce everything. Then they would be happy, that is, until they would actually experience this sort of society, and then they would change their tune quickly.

Maybe they will ultimately overthrow our liberal democracy and get a taste of what they want. Maybe they will even enjoy the rest camps in the gulags or the western equivalent of a holiday in Lubyanka.

One thing that was missed is that the left hate the US especially its military.

I have a long time friend that epitomises the solid leftist. We were discussing the US on Monday and he firmly believes it not the USSR or China were the greatest danger to our freedom. He stated that communism during the cold war had no interest in taking over the world and it was just US propaganda that they would. He is unshakable , as Prager noted, in his belief that corporations not the US government caused the Global Economic Crisis.

With his arms folded tightly across his chest facts and evidence mean nothing to him. Yuri Bezmenov would be so impressed with the mindset of my buddy.

There are a lot of Russian and Eastern European ex-pats in the software industry in SW Ontario. I take great delight in pointing the fresh-faced hipster grads at them and telling them to go ask those guys what it's like living in your beloved socialist paradise.

One of the IT guys at my last employment was part of the Romanian national guard unit that fired the first shots in the revolution that brought down Ceaucescu. He drinks for free when we have lunch.

Even after you present the facts to the leftist/liberal, he will never believe you. At this point, it is not a failure on your part to present the facts or construct an argument. It is, at first, his complete belief in the failure of leftism/liberalism and then his pride. Having sold himself completely to an ideology of failure, he cannot admit it doesn't work. Here is an example of trying to deal with the left. The word "FACT" is in the statement, when, in fact, this is a deliberate lie perpetrated by the anti-abortion crowd.

The human embryonic cells used in research are actually kidney cells, not liver, and were harvested in Holland from a fetus aborted in 1972. They have been cultured for many years and have been spliced with viruses and other cells for research.

Their use allows the researchers to test thousands of flavors without human tasting. The stem cells have been modified to have receptors that simulate taste and can pass or fail thousands of flavors very quickly.

The company that does the research (Senomyx)does not produce any flavors used in any food or drink, nor does Pepsi or Coca Cola use any stem cells in their products.

The deceptive wording of Sen Shortey's bill to forbid the use of embryonic cells in foods is a canard. He included using the cells in the products as well as using them in research to cloud the truth. This wording leads one to think that the stem cells are being used in the products, and not by the research company employed by the food companies.

These are facts, but not important to the left, who are desperate to vilify Big Business and are willing to lie openly about the issues.
