Saskatchewan - where every hour is Human Achievement Hour!
The David Suzuki Foundation has placed Saskatchewan and Alberta as the highest greenhouse gas emitters in the country. In its 2012 ‘All Over the Map’ report, the organization indicates that Saskatchewan tops the list at 71 tonnes per capita with Alberta following at just over 63 tonnes per capita.
“The leadership of the Saskatchewan government has really lagged behind other provinces in the country when it comes to addressing climate change,” said Ian Bruce, climate change specialist at the David Suzuki foundation.
While most of the other provinces showed fluctuations over the years, Saskatchewan has had little change since the same study was conducted four years ago.
SDA gets results!

"...a study by the David Suzuki Foundation..."
Now, wouldn't that be credible, eh?
The David Suzuki Foundation
Soon his cult to will wither when he dies.
Is this the same Suzuki that said the north pole had melted? Seems they lie all the time so?
Rather than answer tough questions - humiliating questions - Suzuki has run for cover
From Friday's Globe and Mail Published Thursday, Apr. 12, 2012 4:09PM EDT Canada’s most famous environmentalist, David Suzuki, says he left the board of his charitable foundation to avoid being a lightning rod for criticism and government attacks that would undermine its work. Still, Peter Robinson, who is the head of the David Suzuki Foundation, said the group is facing a “chill” that is leading it to pull back from important environmental debates lest it be accused by the federal government of exceeding its charitable mandate.
Finally! Something else we are leaders in, besides hockey, farming and cheering for the Riders that is!
After I had wiped the tear from my eye, a line from Wall's victory speech came to mind: "You've heard of the orange crush, but in Saskatchewan, Green is the Colour!"
Sorry, gotta go... another tear came to my eye...
Is this the same Suzuki who relies on oil from Alberta and Saskatchewan for his jet life style? Surely not....
Why does Saskatchewan get to win? We Albertans really tried hard. I want a recount.
Alberta and Saskatchewan, go stand in the corner. And ... NO TALKING!
Dystopian Optimist has placed David Suzuki and his "charitable" foundation as the highest bullshit emitters in the country.
Say, isn't this "political activity"? CRA where are you???
Well, juxtapose this:
Sakatchewans, or Saskatchewanians..er Saskawhoevers are happier!
From CBC! Feature Vid..halfway down

Saskatch and Alberta, please keep up the good work. You are making the us deniers down south proud.
We're #1! We're #1! We're #1!

Suzuki's mistake is in using "tonnes per capita" when it should be "tonnes per square mile"!! Toronto is the highest polluter when using this criteria. Take a look at our skies in Saskatchewan and then at the SMOG in ontario. I,ll live here thanks!
As TimR has alluded to and as Lord Monkton likes to point out, wealth and human well being correlate with CO2 output. Seems the story reinforces that correlation.
I propose a new non for profit group. Suzuki friends of the enviornment for Kitsilano Island wind farm.
We could have our own Saskatchewan T-shirts. They'd be sporting a photo of clear blue sky, healthy fields and forest, an oil derrick, and a potash mine.
Underneath the photo:
"Top of the list, and proud of it!"(bold letters)
"Can you spot the CO2? It's everywhere."(small letters)

Still weak sauce. I'd like them to tell the Suzuki Foundation to help pay the bills in Saskatchewan, or go to he77.
Ok, so the biggest adherants to the alarmism (Ontario, BC, and Quebec...well ignore the last one- they long ago lost any sense of reality!) are the only ones swirling around the economic toilet bowl.
You'd think that would tell them something! Yeah right! Too stupid to come in out of the rain!
Congratulations Alberta and Saskatchewan, this is an even better prize than winning the Grey Cup!
We here in B.C. are GREEN with envy!
Good work, well done! Way to go!
Boy, you Prairie guys have got it made, a good economy, jobs, and you DON'T have Christy Clark!
So Premier Wall and company choose not to p*ss away taxpayers' dollars on something that ranges from questionable science to outright scam.
So where's the problem?
All this proves is that sask is colder than Alberta.
I have an old house(new furnace and water heater though)
A cabin at the lake -- 2 hr trip in a truck
A sea-Ray
2 Polaris sleds
A kids quad
And LOTS of outdoor fires--needless burning
I am so doing my part.
Oh yeah. I eat a lot of seafood. Not exactly local.

Damn, Beaten by Saskies again!
I promise to try harder next year, really and truly.
What we need is a trophy for this sort of competition.
We could take a stainless steel trophy cup and burn it black in a fire made from old used Michelin All Season Radials, certified to have never had a tire tax paid for their replacements.
We could call the competion and the trophy "The Carbon Cup".
Can't we make up a trophy , something tangible like the Stanley cup, or Grey cup to present to Sask. ? There should be some pride in winning this coveted award. Provincial competition with mathamatical allowances to compensate for the smaller populations of Provinces and Territories so we all have a chance of winning ? No fair that Sask.gets all the glory. A generous grant from the Feds for a annual parade would also be in order. What a golden opportunity to inject some pride into Canada as a nation. Saskatchewan of all provinces,.........lucky bastards.
@ Oz at April 13, 2012 12:59 AM
Damnit Oz, you beat me to it while making a late night snack.
Carbon cup much better than my idea.
Of course Ontario is the loser as usual with their crummy 12 tons but that's only because no one can afford to use electricity anymore and industry has moved to Saskatchewan. The do get the Suzuki ribbon for effort and participation but as long as McGuinty is coach they will never win.

Stolen from SDA in 2009:
The Ascension of Saint Suzuki
Patron Saint Suzuki of the Global Warming Fuss
Harangued the carbon sinners from his diesel pulpit bus.
From his wingy, island redoubt, all across the land
He brought the Sacred Message, that carbon must be banned.
Across the prairie powr’d the bus on its own big carbon wave
“I sin myself”, the Saint declared, “that you all might be saved.
And if the message requires that I must sin yet more
You will buy my carbon credits from my Fellow Saint, Al Gore.”
But as He did address the crowd, a gentle wind did waft
Then came a hot air thermal that bore the Saint aloft
He rose above the treetops, he rose above the hill
The thermal gust continued and He may be rising still.
When His words were heard no more and His Body out of sight
A hand appeared within the clouds and then began to write:
“By this sign shall ye know the truth, in spite of His loud rants,
‘Tis the sun that warms the earth; the carbon just feeds plants.”
Quebec has the lowest per-capita emissions and the third largest total emissions of all the Provinces and gets rated very good.
The Yukon has the lowest per-capita emissions in Canada, the lowest total emissions in Canada and the the country’s biggest drop in greenhouse gas emissions since 1990, and gets rated poor.
The Yukon has a Conservative MP and a conservative Territorial government. The MPs in Quebec are predominantly NDP, and the Provincial government is Liberal. Of course that couldn't have anything to do with the ratings could it?
Suzuki's opinions and conclusions are so blatantly biased; nothing he says carries any credibility up-here in the real world.
In honour of human achievement hour we announce the Oil Patch Limbo; how high can you go!
Yah well you just wait.. next year us Ontario guys re gonna start a couple of Hagarsville sized tire fires... we'll be in # 1 spot then... nya nya
And Canada's 2 strongest economies are......
We've got a long way to go if we ever hope to catch up with the low CO2 emissions from the eco nirvana of North Korea.
Suzuki will keep trying tho.
If Saskatchewan's CO2 emissions are holding steady for the past four years, but the production is booming, doesn't that kinda mean that Saskatchewan producers are actually doing something right?! No kudo's for that I guess.
"He added that Saskatchewan could learn from provinces like Ontario"
Yes. I'm sure that a prosperous, well-managed Saskatchewan could learn from an out of control, economic train wreck waiting to happen like Ontario. If one of Suzuki's stooges is going to administer a scolding, he should at least be somewhat realistic. Suzuki and his cohorts should simply be ignored as they have long out-lived their usefulness ... assuming that they were useful in the first place.
Being from Saskatchewan I beam with pride this morning.
I see a business opportunity here, bottle and sell Sask. air. The problem is convincing people that the clear contents is really the most poluted air in Canada.
Out of personal health concerns this should at least keep Lord Suzuki from coming to Saskatchewan.
Well, it only makes sense. If you're working hard and producing something you're probably breathing hard and emitting a lot of extra CO2. Even packed in as densely as they are a bunch of dilettantes farting in a Starbucks haven't a prayer (not that they ever would) of producing as much CO2
WAY TO GO SASK! We are all very proud of this great province. After many years of modeling itself after the policies of Cuba and North Korea, it is now the most economically progressive (in a good way) province in our land! Common sense prevails!
DEFEAT the Gore/SUZuki!
The new Saskatchewan slogan: "Tasteless, colourless and good for growing plants. And, we produce CO2!"
