I don't know these things always tell me I'm ultra conservative, economically and socially but it means absolutely nothing, especially coming from the CBC.

strange. according to the cbc I'm hugely socially conservative. yet I'm not. They put me way past even the WR party on both social and economic terms.

For the record, I rated REDford at a zero. Then put the ndp and lib hacks one step up. They at least, are honest about which party they belong in and run accordingly. The usurping traitor-harpy deserves extra scorn for being a slippery weasel.

I was somewhat more conservative economically, and far more conservative socially than WR. About what I expected.

I wonder (not really) how Mothercorpse will use this data to attack Albertans.

The leaders trustworthy scale widget appears to be broken or stuck in Firefox, so I "skipped" those sections, only to be told in the end how trustworthy I think they are. (Which is not how I would have rated them.)

They got me right. WP all the way. Just hope Edmonton feels the same.

Pure CBC bullcrap. The Progressive Conservatives should be on the Lib/NDP axis and the Wild Rose maybe closer to the PC position. Is the CBC too stupid to realize that the bulk of Wild Rose supporters are simply old PCs who gave on PC leadership? The aren't some previously undisclosed klansmen and rednecks who are voting for the first time. Remember the PCs moved wholesale to the left. The people didn't move at all.

Apparently we need a much more right wing party in Alberta . Maybe the Manitoba ndp cold open a branch here .

Sorry to disagree with your Scar but the average Albertan has moved left over the years. The PCs were left of the Socreds back in '71 and have remained left ever since. Unfortunately for them they have moved left quicker than the average Albertan in the last few years (thanks Special Ed and Red Ali) and are thus about to lose this election.

Answered "Don't know" (or offered variations thereof)...the results put me 100% onside with the splinter-arsed NDP...no surprise there. :)

I found the same in the Leaders and Party questions. I couldn't move them and then was told that the posted positions were the results.

I disclosed that I'm in BC, which the media likes to pretend is liberal. My result was 79% Wildrose. (NDP in last position.)

A wee bit more social conservative than WR but a tad less economically con than WR. Surprisingly (for CBC) pretty close.

So...I'm a hard core right wing bastard, well to the right of WR...

Interesting. The first time I took the poll I indicated I wasn't from Alberta and it didn't process my answers [ I didn't get a "grey dot"].

I took it again but told them I was from Edmonton Whitemud [gotta love that name] and now I'm considerably to the right of Attila the Hun.

Always interesting how the grid is laid out in these silly questionnaires. Why is 'social conservative' always down on the graph while 'nihilistic hedonist' is up on the graph?

What I found a little bizarre was the question on "should government fund abortion?". Now to me that is a economic question not a social question. If I say no I am not passing judgment on abortion, I am passing judgement on government expenditures. Yet it drags you down the social conservative path.

Also what the hell is "economic right/left" or "social liberalism"? How about words like liberty/equality and liberalism/command economy. Simple and descriptive and little value judgment required.

It says that the PC Party is economically conservative! WTF?!? They muse about implementing a sales tax and have announced billions in new spending. How exactly are they fiscally conservative?

I noticed that too. People could answer no to that for significantly different reasons.

MrAdBaculum exactly, they don't know *why* I pick what I pick so they call me more socially conservative than WRP even though I doubt I am. It's the whole left/right scale, absolutely meaningless at best and completely misleading at worst. Every individual has different reasons for why they feel a certain way on an issue, and would rank issues in different levels of importance.

I tried that last year and no one knew who he was,though several of the young guys said they'd join a Thora Birch fan club if it included a photo of that famous scene from "American Beauty".

John Birch was an American war hero in WWII. He was a preacher who took to warfare as an intelligence officer in China. He was the first American killed by the Communist Chinese. The last word to describe him would have been redneck. He saved many of Doolittle's crews. He is unrecognized because hard right wingers adopted his name.

I 'voted' very conservatively to all of the questions, putting me somewhat to the 'right' of the WR party.

Yet when I compared my position vis a vis both WR and the PC's, it showed less differential on party platform between myself and PC than myself vs. WR.

IOW, it suggests that the PC platform is more conservative than that of the WR party. Perhaps it's because the WR party is judged to have more 'neutral' positions than does the PC, but the result is not what I would have expected.

I didn't realize the Wild Rose were such a bunch of left-wing, commie pansies. Still, they're the ones coming closest to my perfectly reasonable, moderate views. So, since elections are about choices, I guess I'll have to vote for them.

The sliders didn't work on google chrome. It insisted that despite being with most other posters in the bottom right (social/economic) that I should trust the Liberals the most, and disagree wholeheartedly with Danielle Smith as a leader. I wonder whether "I'm aborting this poll because it won't give me the right choices" polls are counted?

Maybe its just me, but if you were to put a short moustache on that Redford woman she has an amazing resemblance to old Adolf. In fact the first time I saw her I laughed out loud at how much they resemble each other. Okay, don't shoot me, I'm not saying she's a nazi cow or anything, just callin' it like I see it.

AS others have noted, I also plotted out as more rightwing and socially conservative than WRP, though I am more of a social libertarian - I really don't care who/what you sleep with as long as you don't do it on my lawn.

I guess the answers I gave supporting my strong fiscally conservative views must add extra skew to the results.

Perhaps I'll start my own party: none of this milquetoast Wild Rose stuff, I'm talking real Western Redneck Party here.

But what is up with the grade 6 questions? Nothing like having a 1st Year Socialist writing those questions.

Lots of the questions, like increasing welfare, I agreed with; but there should be a work program associated with it so as to allow the recipient to bolster their dignity by contributing to our society. If not, then have government make the requirements more strict to weed out the thieves and criminals collecting it.

Yes - I always considered myself socially reasonably liberal, and fiscally conservative. Apparently I am extremely socially conservative, according to CBC. I don't know how they get it so wrong.

Same here...for no apparent reason CBC considers me a social conservative. I don't care about drugs or prostitution as I have no use of either. Although abortion in a third trimester from purely atheist perspective is plain stupid.

The thing is, to get a proportional rating you have to start in the centre.

The CeeBeeCee, being of socialist/fascist persuasion, the being in centre of things marker begins way out in the socialist position. So as it is, anyone that have a different position on things is, as per their accounting practices way out in the "extreme", which is of course false.
