Unfortunately British Columbians do not have the same political courage as Albertans. In 2 byelections Today, we threw out TweedleDum and elected TweedleDumber.

True, but the process in B.C. is not as far along, and the hill is steeper. I would not be too unhappy with the results, 25% of the vote with very little discussion or publicity is a good start.

Pcs are running some really scurrilous ads that distort and/or flat out lie about the wildrose policies.

One claims that the wildrose will bring in an abp (it won't - it will investigate whether it is a good idea first and then proceed or not) and that it will add 105 billion in debt (it won't - if it is implemented the cPPs debt earmarked for albertan residents will move from the CPP into the abp - no new debt will be created)

Also the Alberta Federation of labour has done a push poll claiming that it is not advertising and thus not it illegal (it is in both counts)

Elections Alberta - already in the bag for the pcs - not releasing the names of the companies that made several large illegal donations made to a party (presumably the pcs) - says it is investigating but what they can (or rather will) do between now and voting day is probably very little or nothing.

Mannings letter is the coup d gras however. Not too long ago when the alliance party was foundering and stock day had beaten manning for the leadership, manning was touted for a run to replace klein as head of the pcs. He would have been a shoo-in and would have won in a landslide. I'm not sure why Manning didnt do it, but one big reason may have been that it was the PC party that defeated his dads party- the socreds - and Preston worshipped the ground his father walked on (and rightly so - he was/is the greatest premier in Canadian history).

Hopefully Preston Albertans heed your sound advice. I would much rather hire a young honest but inexperienced hand. Than an old well oiled smooth talking lying corrupt experienced known thief. Who has been caught RED Handed and shows no remorse.

WILD ROSE MAJORITY!!!

The only way there will not be a majority for the wild rose is if the ndp and liberals all vote with the pc's and the pc voters all stay and vote pc and from my campaigning with rob here in airdrie that aint the case .

many pc voters have told me it's time for a change and have asked for signs for the wild rose on there property!!!

Why do I keep hearing on Edmonton CTV for the last several weeks that the polls are running neck and neck? Then I go to

and all the polls except one a couple weeks ago show a Wildrose runaway. I am not sure what being deliberately stupid and lying to viewers is supposed to accomplish.

CTV Edmonton's big story with onsite reporting and video was a mudhole at some mail boxes at Pigeon Lake. These guys give you mindless formula journalism at its best. As I am typing this I just heard how the PCs are closing in while the polls indicate otherwise. Bull$hit!

Scrutineering advance poll yesterday...we had more people than showed up for all three days last election. I'm sure some gave up and left with lineups outside all day and waits of more than an hour much of the time.

Our advance poll - only a single poll in an area of 10 - 12,000. I voted first thing but it had to be nuts later. My straw poll says a Wildrose landslide. Rural healthcare or the obvious lack of it is a big issue. Our rural hospitals have all been converted to glorified nursing stations. The Superboard just moved everything to Edmonton and Calgary.

Scar; Just checked 308.com and it shows WR projected to win 45 seats. Take two away and that's a minority. I'd take a WR minority. The housekeeping would show so many PC sins that WR would be back to the polls for their majority within 2 years.

Scar; Did all parties have scrutineers? That kind of lineup could hurt. Elections Alberta needs some serious house cleaning. I got a little story from an Alberta Alliance candidate who ran in a previous election. He was ready to file his papers with the constituency returning officer the minute the writ was dropped. He tried to drop in on the constituency RO (Returning Officer's) office but the guy wasn't there. He called a second time and the guy put him off because he "wasn't ready". The third time this AAP candidate called the guy with a local reporter on the line. The RO tried to put him off again and the candidate asked him if he had mentioned the reporter was on the line with him. The RO changed his tune quickly and made himself available immediately.

The allegations are that the ROs are all PC hacks and I don't doubt it. A strong turn out is generally bad news for the incumbents. Advanced polls can make the difference in close elections.

There were no scrutineers first thing in the morning. 2 clerks at the ballot box and 2 to help unregistered people. I don't know what went on later.

As far as the polls go, all of them for the last 3 weeks except one have been about 41% Wildrose/33% PC. There have been a lack of trends. I think Wildrose might have more of an election day bump because the more conservative, the more likely one will actually vote.

Danielle is going to make some kind of announcement in an hour related to the two yahoo candidates and reiterating that the Wildrose is not Anti-Gay or Anti-Non-White. (Absurd, but could calm down the nervous nellies)
She's doing this in Alison Redford's riding. A riding Alison Redford will probably not win as their campaign manager, the boy wonder, Stephen Carter has apparently been dispatched to in order to ensure a win.

Voted at advance poll yesterday afternoon in Calgary. In the ten minutes we were there the flow of people coming in was continuous though not excessive. The box I pushed my ballot into was full to the top. The clerk said "We've not been just sitting around here".

Of interest is that neither my wife nor I were asked for ID.

The urban lefty punk video enraged me, the CBC ambush astroturf enraged me. The fact Redford panders to the demented left enrages me.

Time to get out to the polls and kick some commie ass to the curb. Come on Alberta we've evolved beyond the anti-intellectual sophisty of left wing mythology. No one in the province is needy enough to elect these freedom haters.

When Reform was just starting I had several chances to talk with Preston. He always had time to listen and debate thoughts about how government should operate. He had great faith in the grassroots and their ability to determine policy. Last time I talked to him he was considering retirement in the East Kootenays but that was some time ago.

Preston was/is a better Canadian than myself. He was convinced that Reform had to move east while I and a minority felt the party should move into provincial politics. The thought was that 3 Reform premiers from BC, AB and Sask could force a debate on how the country was being ran to the detriment of western Canada.

Has anyone noticed that PostMedia has taken a serious turn left recently? From turning on Harper ferociously to covering the CBC debate last night with a singular story in the National Post about how Danielle Smith was heckled for her Global Warming answer (really, that's the entire story there?)--- Conrad Black's empire seems to have gone anti-conservative in the biggest way. I could swear most stories the National Post runs about the AB election has been decidedly anti-Wild Rose.

Is PostMedia, like the Alberta PC's, attempting to embrace the left for their survival? Is Coyne yanking the mothership left? Maybe GoldenTree - the Hedge Fund that owns PostMedia - has a hair up their ar$e seeing as the CPC will probably not relax foreign media ownership rules and that means no quick profit to them? Whatever the reason, I guess I am reduced to reading Quebecor.

Crissy in BC will be watching the Alberta election closely..if WR wins in a landslide she may have a revolt in the interior and non Kaska owned North...they will be petioning to join Alberta again. Lots of tax payers will be relocating to Alberta/Sask. Interesting times ahead. The good guys are winning in the west.

Well I just got out of the advance polls. I used to be conservative right across the board but Adler and Manning are right. Enough IS enough and I voted Wild Rose right across the board.

I hear rumours that the Rat Queen is angling to buy off her pal Christy Clarke with a chunk of royalty revenue from oil and gas development, then make up the difference to Albertans by introducing a provincial sales tax.
