The Tolerant Left

Sums a lot of things up.. that photo does.

Sickos.

So no one behind this brainfart could see the potential controvery it might create ? Just shores my belief that civil servants and political elites miss that most important thingy called common sense. One ugly cake too. I'm all against political correctness but this is way beyond that. This is plain stupid.

LOL, these loons make laws no wonder the worlds going to he-- in a hand basket.

Makes me wonder what a progressive has to do to actually shock me anymore.

Lena Elisabeth Adelsohn Liljeroth is a Swedish Moderate Party politician.....
The Moderate Moderate Party is a centre-right, liberal conservative political party in Sweden.
Moderate Party, Swedish in full Moderata Samlingspartiet, byname Moderaterna, centre-right Swedish political party. The Moderate Party was founded in 1904 as the Conservative Party but took its current name in 1969. From its inception the party has promoted a market economy, lower taxes, and a smaller role for the government in the economy.

Liquor-ish. Bad taste.

Phil, did you read the article?

I'm never again ordering the cake at the Ikea cafeteria.

This folks are seriously ****ed in the head. What could they possibly been thinking. A completely different culture than I would have imagined.
Might be awhile before I go back to Ikea. Har!

I blog at a well known Canadian humour site where just about anything, except negative references to Jack Layton or Princess Di goes, and I am shocked by this attempt at humour.

A screaming black-person cake!

Disgusting and revolting.

And I'm NOT making a "funny".

Although it DOES conjure up a whole raft of sick humour ideas to use on sensitive people.

Is this the same country with a shockingly high tolerance for anti-semitism - and who can't field a decent IIHF women's hockey team?

Speechless. I wonder if this would be done with a burkha clad cake?

The Liberal Elites of Europe have always viewed the public at culturally impoverished and artless.

These are the people who intend on ruling a One World Government, and we are all niggers to them, that are why the multicultural mixing and breeding like livestock is desirable for the masses, by them.

The race wars and chaos created in society is inconsequential to them, in fact it is preferred, to keep the masses embroiled in local conflicts far away from the class level of existence on their planet.

Fight Liberal Progressivism and it's UN mandates, and stop empowering these freakish creatures.

"Speechless. I wonder if this would be done with a burkha clad cake?"

Not for long.

This piece of edible performance art was not for humors sake. Granted some may think it tasteless, for others it will leave a bad after taste-that's the whole point-demonstrating just how unpalatable, gross and cruel FGM truly is and who the majority of the victims are. Plateful of symbolism if nothing else.

Grandstanding involved? Most likely. Visceral reaction? Most likely.

The "elites" all seem to be white.

Now, how could that be in the multi-cultural wonderland that is modern Sweden?

Lucky Lori, so why the big grins?
I'm not buying it.

You know, I gotta tell ya, nothing that the left does surprises me anymore. That's a bad thing because I should be grossly offended but I just don't have the energy for it these days. But just for shits and giggles, put a burka on it.

Lucky Lori >

I disagree, this was not art for public consumption, it was Euro Liberal Elitist art. It was created for and meets their discerning tastes.

The public needs to better understand the minds of the people that wish to force upon us the rules to live our lives by. This is their “art” that satisfies their indulgences, it’s not meant to appeal to us regular people in any way.

Forgot the 'h' in burkha. Don't care.

In other news, the demented progressive feminocracy (that had until recently banned boxing for 30 years) held its first UFC event on the weekend. So there is hope.

In other news, the demented progressive feminocracy (that had until recently b@nned boxing for 30 years) held its first UFC event on the weekend. So there is hope.

This is something the folks who work in a morgue would do. Just to relieve stress. Its the kind of sick humor employed in a job like that.

Whenever the left does something, it is allegedly noble.

Racism and using cake to further that rancid end- only a leftist could think of it.

Yes lets stigmatize them as "racist".

And since Sweden will be muslim in 35 years there will be lots of time to promote real clit carvings on real women then we can go back to not noticing.

I'm for it, I like the cake, I'm sick of political correctness being rammed down the throats of those that object to barbarism and the destruction of everything they've fought for, for generations.
The point is they're AGAINST cliterectomies.
It's a "F"n cake with an actor in it.
They've noticed their country is dying and being replaced by evil that would cut your clit off for real.

Bon Appetit.

I think Judy Rebick does more screaming without the knife part. where is she when you need an opinion?

The Somewhat Perceptive Kreskin >

Somewhat perceptive apparently sums your comments up.

If you honestly believe that these people are politicizing some humanitarian cause, you need to WAKE UP.

You are correct; Europe has become the “white victim” rape capital of the world – because of these people. The same people that love ethnic culture so much, that they bomb, steal and euthanize their indigenous populations wholesale across the third world. And then they import them wholsale, including “domestic” terrorists, closed ethnic communities, no-go zones, welfare abusers, organized crime et al.

Their “country” is indeed being replaced by barbaric religions and cultures, they promote this because it doesn’t reach them in their ivory towers, don’t be fooled by false propaganda with dual intentions. Their “county” is a Global class system without borders; there is one for the faceless muddled masses, and one for themselves.

If they were seriously concerned with cliterectomies, they would directly attack the cultures in question, they would boycott immigration, and sanction the offenders. A far cry from what they are actually doing.

I did say there was most likely grand-standing involved. I agree that the smiles were of the aren't we wonderful -look at us sort. It was a gross and disgusting act - just like FGM - where the females in the village will often celebrate with a feast after - the only one not smiling is the unfortunate young girl in pain who just experienced an amputation of her genitals.

Melodrama aside,it's a disturbing topic period. Clip will receive a fair share of attention either way.

It just seems grotesquely de-humanizing to me, but then, I'm just a plebeian.

Forgive me for being a stupid old white man but...
What is this supposed to prove? I just don't get it.
I mean, what it the purpose of this activity?

Speaking to the TT news agency, she conceded the cake installation was provocative and rather bizarre, and said she had been invited to speak about artistic freedom and the right to offend.

She added: "They wanted me to cut the cake." Ultimately, the artist was to blame for any confusion, she said, arguing that the situation had been misinterpreted. "He claims that it challenges a romanticised and exoticised view from the west about something that is really about violence and racism," she said. "Art needs to be provocative."

This is the first time "raising awareness" has ever worked: this story is now international news.

So the question to idiots is, what is more offensive:

This cake or
The practice it was created to condemn: FGM?

Obviously (to us) the latter, but you know that's not how the "dialogue" is going.

Europeans are notoriously oblivious to cartoonish racial depictions that make North Americans shudder.

Exhibit A: TinTin

Exhibit B: The Catholic publisher I used to work for had to destroy all the plates of the French version of a new catechism guide, and have all the illustrations redone.

The French originals depicted "children of the world" in a fashion unseen by North American eyes in decades:

Chinese kids who were literally Post-It Note yellow, with coolie hats, etc.

The French people at the meeting had NO idea why our manager was literally hyperventilating with distress.

In a world overcome by p.c., I can't decide whether or not I admire Europeans for this old fashioned obliviousness.

Knight 99, I agree.
Burka made of ice cream would have been better.
I just won't shout "racist" unless it's the usual Al Sharpton or Jesse song and dance.

They're probably lefties who've used their entitlements to send their kids to private school and never have to talk to the scum in Malmo but I'm not sure.
I like the cake and I'd cut a piece myself and laugh for what it seems to be - a shot at FGM and the culture that goes along with it.
The raging Jesse and Al race-baiter industry types seem to be the most offended by the cake, so I'm picking sides, but also praying for the asteroid.

Just remember, these transnational progressive elites are your moral and intellectual superiors, even more than the MSM journalists are.

The Somewhat Perceptive Kreskin >

Agreed.

At the end of the day we need to ask ourselves, who puts on crap like this, who has the time?

Bang on about the asteroid - none of this is our fight, and yet it's all manufactured to be, with an outcome we could never win because it’s a “fixed” game (pardon the pun).

"Undertones?"

Why a cake at all? What a joke of a photo op.

Just a bunch of people standing around doing "work" to help racism, feminism, the environment, saving whales, prisoner rights, single Mom's and any number of other causes.

Then, despite the cake, off to lunch to be see and be seen in the afterglow of the "work"

Everything that Knight 99 said @5:54 captures my thoughts and is articulated better than I could have done.

'Lucky Lori, so why the big grins?
I'm not buying it.'
Posted by: chutzpahticular at April 17, 2012 4:56 PM

I don't buy that line either chutzpahticular, for the same reason. Look at the grins, the inference being that the grotesque minds are picturing macabre thoughts. Sick, twisted, cruel.

I thought Freud was Austrian not Swedish...who knew??? Slippery bugger that Freud.....

And how many clitorectomies will this stop? That is the essential question. More idiots believing 'provocative' art makes a difference.

"Liberals belief: It's the intent that counts.
Conservatives: It's the outcome that counts."
(I will attribute this paraphrased quote to Mark Levin but I don't know if he is the original author)

The truest statement I have come across in a long time. This political stunt masquerading as art is the quintessential realization of the quote.

I'm sorry, I'm not buying this was an attempt to bring to light the horrifying issue of female mutilation. The gleeful laughter, the Baron Samedi face and the fact that Sweden is now a de facto apologist for Islamism/anti-semitic state belie that claim. That may be the result of this event for some people but that's not what I saw in those pictures.

I'm waiting for the little Norwegian vanilla figurines.

I bet you can't eat 70.

Osumashi Kinyobe >

Awareness is indeed enlightenment. It's difficult for people to grasp that the road paved with good intentions may have been a planned disaster from the beginning by someone else with bad intentions.

As you pointed out the otherwise nurturing of destructive social engineering behind the veil, reveals their theatrical fabrication.

One could view this whole spectacle as a symbolic mass human sacrifice, witnessed and indulged by many millions of people, some horrified feeding the fear, some in rapture – it’s a matter of perceptions.

The irrefutable fact is that they did it openly, and without resistance in the form of moral outrage by the global population. It is a revealing sign of where we are as a society, if not a form of bragging rights, or a signal.

Maybe Breivik isn't the crazy one after all.

Well said Shaidle.

They missed the mark by not using a rusty old filthy razor blade as the cutting instrument - fail. Subtitles are needed to understand exactly what words the women was screaming to provide context and ensure the work will not be misinterpreted.

Send a CBC crew to film an authentic, live and up close, play by play FGM complete with coverage of the after celebration, they know they could use the ratings.

Heck, why not just do a reality series. No shortage of mothers and fathers bringing their daughters for auditions. Format could be a cross between Survivor and Idol. A spin off on sex selective abortions would naturally follow.

The cake was a waste of time and demonstrates bad taste. If they wanted to make the point against women in Africa there's already something much more powerful: a documentary called "The Greatest Silence: Rape in the Congo".

After viewing, nobody would ever eat licorice cake again.

"Europeans are notoriously oblivious to cartoonish racial depictions that make North Americans shudder."

"Exhibit A: TinTin:"

I missed that, I think. Do you mean the movie? Or was there something in one of herge's actual comics to which you refer?

From the comments:

"So if I made a cake of a Jewish person and slid it into a oven to bake to start a party while everyone laughed and cheered to raise awareness of the still existent anti-Semitic views then thats ok, right?"

Exactly.

The "artist" groused that this "work" was misunderstood. Uh huh.

We could eliminate such trash by refusing to grant taxpayer funds to pay for it, methinks. Even the Cake Boss would pass on this one.

mhb23re

Imagine if CanadianCynic was the subject of that photo. You'd have to have depictions of supple young altar boys, or whatever perversion currently excites him these days.

I think where they started cutting the cake pretty much sums up everything one needs to know about the modern left.

Imagine those people with the power to do what they really want to do.

Knight, one may be aware and do nothing. Even some useless symbolic gesture is nothing (which is why I hate the rainbow multitude of ribbons). Perhaps the documentary Martin mentioned might be more effective, but in Sweden who would watch it? The problems of female mutilation, ect have been present for a long time. This cake... well.. takes the cake.

MWest, SNAP!
