Good Luck Rick and all the best for your daughter.

All the best to Rick. Ron Paul is better, however: he's more principled, more determined, and more conservative.

Regardless, Romney is our man.

With Santorum being excused from the "race", I feel the same melancholy as when they untied the strings from Howdy's sister, Heidi Doody, and set her on the shelf.

Answer: Mit Romney
Question: What's worse than a Kenyan born, Chicago Liberal?

Won't be missing him at all.

Whats worse than a Kenyan born Chicago Liberal?

Nothing.!

Not a huge follower of US politics, and not a huge fan of Santorum based on what I did see and hear, but if he's abandoning the race to focus on the health of his family, I applaud him for having his priorities straight.

@jethro

Dito!!

It may be best to revisit this in a few weeks to see where Mr. Santorum's support goes. It's not over yet.

It's thoroughly over.

It's over all the way to November. Romney will be nom'd and will probably lose to Obama unless the economy really tanks.

Best of luck to Rick's daughter. It's amazing anyone with Edward's Syndrome has lived even that long.

Rick knew that if he lost his home State his political Career would be History....He put up a good fight; now is the time let go and allow the focus to be on Obama

Mitt has the time to sit back and watch Obama dig himself deeper in that big hole...Obama is self-imploding his Clinton (moderate) Democrat support... Mitt will be well positioned to wail on Obama when the Supreme Court rules Obama unconstitutional

The Country may just demand to see Obamas' College records.

Santorum is a good man. Although he would not be my first choice he exemplified the qualities that the US needs in a leader so very badly right now.
Pure speculation but could he have made a deal with Romney to be his running-mate in November.???

The Republicans have to play the hand dealt to them. As Bambam and the Demis are such up and up folks, you know it's just a matter of time until the "Scary Mormon" ads get cranked up.

It's now Romney's to lose. All he needs to do is grow some and go on the offensive all the time. The Dems/media will attack his religion, his wealth, his congressional colleagues, you name it, their strategy is to put the challenger on the defensive, diverting all attention from the disaster of Obama. This will be the most racist, Marxist class struggle, ad hominem, hysteria whipped-up campaign in recent memory. As long as Romney doesn't let up and try to "play nice" a la Bush / McCain, he has a pretty good chance that Obama will screw himself by losing his cool and accidentally leaking-out his inner and (heretofore hidden) ugly honest self, alerting the mushy-middle to his actual pathological agenda.

NOOOOOT!!!! Save us!

Good. Romney bowed out early from the 2008 race so as to give McCain the best chance of beating the Democrats, and it's proper Santorum does the same now that it's unlikely he'll win.

rabbit - didn't that work out well?

Mamba

Although I think it's now a boat race, this is exactly what newt needed. He needs to somehow get the Santorum votes to his side in future primaries and hope he can keep Mitt under 1144 before the convention. Then the bet is that he can lure the Santorum’s non-committed delegates to his side with a few good speeches and debates.

I'm not sure this is a viable option, as Newt's campaign is broke, and I'm not sure he can get Rick's votes over to him. All of that said, I'm still holding-out hope. Personally, I wish Rick would have gotten out after SC, as he never had a real chance, and split Newt's votes all the way. I fear it's too late now.

Newt was always the guy who could beat Obama, and turn things around in a meaningful way. It’s a shame that folks couldn’t see through the GOP machine’s rhetoric against him.

Do you concur?

Did Ronald Rea.....er, Santorum drop out of the race?

No kidding......

Black Mamba:

"didn't that work out well?"

It ain't 2008. The Republican presidential candidate was going down to defeat then no matter what.

The American public are tired of the crap that happens (or not) in Washington. The average independent voter is not likely to vote for a Washington insider and Newt is one. Just like Uncle Joe Biden, he is a career politico, has flaws that can be trotted out by Saint Bambam and marginalized by the MSM in spite of Newt's fairly sane platform.

What Romney needs is a bulldog of a VP that can play as dirty as the democRATs. Christie, Rubio or Seven of Nine's ex can all take the heat and give back as much as they get.

Texas Canuck I thought that was what all the whining was about from Newt and Santorum... that Romney was playing dirty. Now he's going to be too wimpy? Which one is it?

rabbit - it would have been nice if he'd looked like he was at least trying a bit, though.

Indy - volunteer to be his campaign manager. Everyone else has given up. I can barely stand the guy and I'd be thrilled if he were the nominee. NOOOT IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!!!

Good. The guy who thought that porn was an issue bowed out. Now the adults can get down to beating Obama.

Fun fact: With this, all four candidates who claim God told them to run are now out of the race. Maybe God is a democrat?

Santorum is a decent man but his campaign is out of steam and his family needs him. Let's hope his daughter gets well.

Romney had better win. America cannot afford another four years of the pompous @$$hole named Barack Hussein Obama.

Santorum was completely unelectable, and made some appalling comments of the "social conservative" variety. I wish him good luck in his future though.

What the country really needs is Ron Paul, with foreign policy grafted on from somebody else.

Powerfactor - so your argument is that God supports infanticide and having no responsibility for your actions? Hmm... I thought someone else was big on lack of responsibility... now who could that be?

It seems that Ron Paul is a man of his principles. For better or worse, those principles are not fully shared by a substantial majority of American voters. He a member of the House of Representatives, and history suggests that the chances of a House member being elected President are very slim. In contest after contest, Mr Paul has fallen short in th eyes of Republicans; the number of independents and Democrats who would jump on to his creaking bandwagon seems likely to be minimal.

It is true that many people have trouble becoming enthusiastic about Mr Romney; he's not my cup of non-alcoholic, non-caffeinated beverage either. But to suggest he a stealth candidate who will drive the country further to the left if elected is so loopy that it almost gives credibility to those academic "studies" that suggest that people are more likely to be "conservative" if they are drunk or stupid.

The American government has three branches. Currently, conservatives have something of a majority in half of the legislative branch, a few outstanding voices in the judicial branch, and less than no influence in the executive branch. Tossing away one's vote or sitting at home muttering at one's screen will help to ensure that the Left will control all three branches.

It doesn't matter, the big 0 has it all fixed with his pals in Europe, his pal Soros owns the Spanish firm the big 0 has counting the votes.

THE FIX IS IN!!!!!
