Chutzpah on steroids: DNC Spokeswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz blames Republicans for blocking the Obama budget that she herself voted against…and which not one single Democrat voted for.

Trayvon protesters ransack Walgreen's store.

They used to just call 'em looters, eh?

Rather than resting under the umbrella of this collapsing Gong Show, Canada would be wise to seek out other powerful friends.

Introducing the Duranty Prize

Starting this year, PJ Media, in conjunction with our good friends at The New Criterion, will be awarding the first annual Walter Duranty Prize for Journalistic Mendacity.

The first annual Duranty Prize will be given for what our readers consider the most egregious example of dishonest reporting for the fiscal year 2011-2012 (July 1, 2011 – June 30, 2012).

We will be officially accepting nominations from PJM and TNC readers starting May 1, 2012, at Duranty@pjmedia.com (but if you want to go ahead now, no one’s going to stop you – the email address is functioning).

A Duranty Prize Committee of seven journalists and writers will then sift the nominations and decide the winner (or winners) to be announced at a ceremony in New York in the Fall.

Committee members are: Peter Collier, Roger Kimball, Cliff May, Ron Radosh, Glenn Reynolds, Claudia Rosett, and Roger L. Simon.

The intention of this award is to highlight the continuing extreme bias and misreporting of our media. Nominations are welcome in text and video forms, in print or on the web. The committee would appreciate an Internet link with your nomination.

Keep Khadr out of Canada petition. I have not been able to find the actual petition in order to sign it. Maybe some of you more savvy people can find it.

"The Duranty Prize" -- what a good idea. There are a lot of journalists out there who deserve at least as much recognition as ol' Walter.

RT: In this video, Rep. Corrine Brown, appearing on CNN to talk about the Trayvon Martin case, is asked by host Brooke Baldwin if she'd be as upset if Trayvon wasn't black; she says she absolutely would -- "I care about all the children" -- and avers that she was every bit as upset when, in a high profile case, a white female in her area was murdered.

Baldwin cuts in to deftly ask just the right question:

"Congressman Brown, what was her name?"

Brown's minute-and-a-half long response is an object lesson in why Democracy probably isn't going to work in the long run…

You can build an awful lot of homemade rockets with $147 million:

"President Obama, citing the United States’ national security interests, Wednesday waived restrictions on funding for the Palestinian Authority. In a memorandum sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Obama cited his authority under section 7040(b) of the Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs Appropriations Act of 2012 section 7040(a) of the Act, to provide appropriated funds to the Palestinian Authority.

"The president directed Clinton to inform Congress of his action…"

EPA official discusses - on film in 2010 - philosophy to crucify and make examples of Oil&Gas companies.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ze3GB_b7Nuo

"But as I said, oil and gas is an enforcement priority, it's one of seven, so we are going to spend a fair amount of time looking at oil and gas production. And I gave, I was in a meeting once and I gave an analogy to my staff about my philosophy of enforcement, and I think it was probably a little crude and maybe not appropriate for the meeting but I'll go ahead and tell you what I said. It was kind of like how the Romans used to conquer little villages in the Mediterranean. They'd go into a little Turkish town somewhere, they'd find the first five guys they saw and they would crucify them. And then you know that town was really easy to manage for the next few years. And so you make examples out of people who are in this case not compliant with the law. Find people who are not compliant with the law, and you hit them as hard as you can and you make examples out of them, and there is a deterrent effect there. And, companies that are smart see that, they don't want to play that game, and they decide at that point that it's time to clean up. And, that won't happen unless you have somebody out there making examples of people. So you go out, you look at an industry, you find people violating the law, you go aggressively after them. And we do have some pretty effective enforcement tools. Compliance can get very high, very, very quickly. That's what these companies respond to is both their public image but also financial pressure. So you put some financial pressure on a company, you get other people in that industry to clean up very quickly. So, that's our general philosophy."

Apparently the Wildrose weren't the only ones who thought carbon capture and sequestering could not be justified. Odd, the timing of the announcement what with the election and all...

Grandad....NOTHING to do with CO2 is justified. Absolutely nothing. Taxing thin air is a socialists wet dream. Especially as they are going down the economic toilet.

"Born on a tabletop in Joe's Cafe, dirtiest place in the U.S.A. ... poisoned his mother with DDT and blew up his daddy with TNT."

Anybody know the rest of this?

Another hero of Liberty is in Texas fighting for Freedom. Dr. Paul is as uncompromising as Davy Crockett was re: personal Liberty. Both Champions of the Constitution and both fighting in Texas. Ron Paul mentioned the fight for freedom in his Texas speech tonight. The crowd was huge and enthusiastic (understatement)!!

Liberty is popular in the Lone Star State.

At the link a person can listen to the entire speech.

Interesting link Posted by: Numenius at April 26, 2012 11:42 PM. I do believe that there is a correlation and it clearly shows on the graph. Some people stayed home.

Lesson: never, ever pay any attention whatever to what the msm says - just plow ahead with your message and let the chips fall where they may. Davy Crockett said it well - 'if they don't like my message they can all go to hell...I will go to Texas'

The Rob Ford lesson that Danielle Smith should have learned

Danielle Smith should have learned a lesson from Rob Ford’s campaign for Mayor of Toronto. As a candidate, Ford was similarly attacked in 2010 by his pro-homosexual opponents and the pro-homosexual media, over his belief in the traditional definition of marriage. The contempt they poured out on him was vitriolic. But unlike Smith, Ford did not react by apologizing for his principles, or by appearing to run away from them. That would have deflated his critical base of so-con support and quite possibly cost him the election.

Instead, he very calmly and simply responded “I support traditional marriage. I always have”. When the media kept badgering him, he very consistently repeated it calmly and unapologetically. In the end, Ford confounded all his critics and won the election by a large margin, defeating the openly-homosexual George Smitherman who was a media darling.

Occasionally the old National Post emerges from its shift to the mushy middle and says what needs to be said.

It is interesting the the public service unions appear to be aligned with the anarchists.

"Americans were supposedly incapable of recognizing the superiority of European culture as defined by its literary achievements."

"How Highbrows Killed Culture"

"It is one of the foundational myths of contemporary liberalism: the idea that American culture in the 1950s was not only stifling in its banality but a subtle form of fascism that constituted a danger to the Republic. Whatever the excesses of the 1960s might have been, so the argument goes, that decade represented the necessary struggle to free America’s mind-damaged automatons from their captivity at the hands of the Lords of Conformity and Kitsch. And yet, from a remove of more than a half century, we can see that the 1950s were in fact a high point for American culture—a period when many in the vast middle class aspired to elevate their tastes and were given the means and opportunity to do so.

The wildly successful attack on American popular culture in the 1950s was an outgrowth of noxious ideas that consumed the intellectual classes of the West in the first five decades of the 20th century—ideas so vague and so general that they were not discredited by the unprecedented flowering of popular art in the United States in the years after World War II. And, in the most savage of ironies, that attack ended up not changing popular culture for the better but instead has led to a popular culture so debased as to obviate parody.

Throughout the opening decades of the 20th century, American liberals engaged in a spirited critique of Americanism, a condition they understood as the pursuit of mass prosperity by an energetic but crude, grasping people chasing their private ambitions without the benefit of a clerisy to guide them. In thrall to their futile quest for material well-being, and numbed by the popular entertainments that appealed to the lowest common denominator in a nation of immigrants, Americans were supposedly incapable of recognizing the superiority of European culture as defined by its literary achievements."

Is there any turd of Obama's that media will refuse to polish?

Amazing how if you get a topic attacking Harper you would swear someone left the crypt door open as lefties by the score swarm to make their odious comments.

"Stephen Harper shouted down for saying NDP didn’t support fight against Hitler", now almost 700 posts, most so inane and repetitious that anyone on right just gives up and wanders away.

Update from 1:49 a.m. - It appears that the Obama Administration has retreated (until after the fall elections) from its position to restrict the ability of farm families to have their children do farm work.

...Canada would be wise to seek out other powerful friends. Dystopian Optimist

Agreed, how about nuclear weapons, for a starter.

In all other realms, including economic ones, Canada does not need to tie herself into binding international agreements. The world will trade with Canada, no strings attached, and, as we've seen with China, even the largest economies covet trade with Canada. Think of Switzerland, except Canada has strengths Switzerland has never, and can never enjoy.
