Interesting look at history. In hindsight, reinstating the Ayatollah Khomeini set them back to where the religious elite wanted them. The University students that took over the US embassy must wonder what life would be like today if they had not been whipped into a frenzy by religious leaders. Another case where if the CIA had just minded it's own business , relations today might be on a better level, perhaps like Saudi Arabia. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Pharmacology - cancer division - when bullsh*!!ing your way through the statistical analyses actually leads to problems:

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/28/us-science-cancer-idUSBRE82R12P20120328

"In cancer science, many "discoveries" don't hold up.

"A former researcher at Amgen Inc has found that many basic studies on cancer -- a high proportion of them from university labs -- are unreliable, with grim consequences for producing new medicines in the future."

Jesus of Nazareth rises from the dead April 33 AD.

Happy Easter...

Happy Easter, Hans and all SDAers.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Rom 8:1

As long as big pharma is doing the research there will never be a cure for cancer as it is a multi-billion dollar industry. I have posted this logical explanation before, but in case anyone missed it ,here it is again.

President Carter should be thanked for his tireless work in throwing out the evil Shah of Iran.

His meddling turned a westward looking, quickly modernizing country into the Islamic Republic. Why? One reason I heard was Iran had a secret police that killed dozens of communist and religious subversives every year. The Islamic Republic that replaced it was much better, as it killed thousands of people every year, drove out religious minorities, and nurtures murderous terrorist organizations through out the world. Iran continues to support Bashir Assad, the chinless wonder in Syria with his slaughter of his own citizens.

Continuing with the fine example set by his predecessor Pesident Carter, President Obama withthrew support for Hosni Mubarak in Egypt in 2011. This was also as successful as Iran was. The Egyptian parliamentary election results had the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists win most of the seats.

The civilized world will regret the Muslim Brotherhood gaining power in Egypt as much as the Ayatollahs in Iran.

This already has resulted in persecution of the Coptic Christians in Egypt. The Egyptians are also attempting to hold and prosecute American and western democratic activists in Egypt. The US paid several million dollars in "bail" to get the US activists out of Egypt.

This could explain all the snow in Nova Scotia...

Seeing as it's Easter Morning:

Happy Easter, everyone!

Jesus Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed!
Hallelujah!

Rob in the Couv,

I love Adam, his grounded realism confirms conservative beliefs hold up to the "common sense" test. Not to mention his brilliant wit.

HE IS RISEN!!!!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

fridge logic @ 1;24am - we shouldn't hold our breath waiting for any truly effective treatments for cancer and certainly any magic bullet in my nor my children's and grandchildren's lifetime. Truth is - if a researcher ever found him/herself on a promissing path they would quickly sweep it under the rug and go off in a different direction.

The gigantic infrastructure of cancer research would never do anything that would put that many folks out of work. Call me cynical but I doubt I am wrong. They are the fundraising "bully" on the block. Fundraising is all they do.

The same might be said for other types of medical research - i.e. diabetes - remember ten or so years ago researchers were on the verge of a major breakthrough in the actual "cure" for this disease. No cure and exloding rates of diabetes is what has happened since.

I have quit giving to cancer "research".

BTW - A very Happy and Blessed Easter to all who stop by here.

Why do you seek the living amongst the dead? HE IS RISEN!

Yes Happy Easter to all...Remember the stone was rolled away, not for Him to exit, but for His followers to see the Empty Tomb.

CTV chose today to follow this story:

The CBC vote compas is back for the Alberta election.
It has a nice little survey at the end that needs help.

http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/04/07/nbc-producer-fired-over-misleading-edit-of-trayvon-martin-shooting-911-audio/

"NBC News has fired a producer following a probe into its broadcasting of a misleading edit of an audio clip of a 911 emergency response call during coverage of the Trayvon Martin shooting..."

"The edit made it appear as though Zimmerman told police that Martin was black without being prompted, when, in fact, the full tape reveals that the neighborhood watch captain only did so when responding to a question asked by the dispatcher."

from the Vote Compass:
Q: How easy should it be for workers to organize a union?

I can't find the public sector or private sector option. Hmmm

Happy Easter to all.
--------------
I found this site that tracks homicides in Chicago. It's interesting, you can track homicides using all sorts of criteria, hispanics and whites are lumped together as one race though.Hmmm.
The neighbourhood of 'Roseland' which had a community organizer who went on to bigger things has recorded 99 homicides since Jan.1 2007,about one every 3 weeks. That is a neighbourhood, not a city. Who will be number 100 ?

So,cbc is looking for commentary from influential people in broadcasting re Mike Wallace's death, and what was the first 'tweet' they read? From their own lightest of the lightweight's Jian Ghomeshi! They then do ph.interview with Petey Mansbridge, and his memories of Mike's many interviews.Petey's special memory of Mike, was his interview with Farakaan, when 'Wallace got him to admit that the US was the most corrupt country' Way to go cbc!

This year, Passover and Easter totally coincide, which sometimes happens.

Jesus was a Jew, not a Christian! It was His followers who became Christians because that's what others began to call them after His death and resurrection, when thousands joined the original tiny band.

Like J2P2, I believe that the Jews are Christians' "elder brothers and sisters in the faith" and am eternally grateful for the Jewish faith, their Scriptures, the Patriarchs, the Prophets, and the Psalms: They are a true blessing.

Rise Up, My Love, My Fair One (from the Song of Solomon 2: 13), an exquisite arrangement by Healey Willan (1880-1968), British/Canadian composer, former choir director and organist at St. Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Manning Avenue, Toronto:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

Rise up my love, my fair one, and come away.
For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone.
The flowers appear upon the earth.
The time of singing of birds is come.
Arise my love, my fair one, and come away.

Happy Passover! Happy Easter!

Right you are, batb. Without the Jews, there would be no Christianity. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the early Christians were not called Christians, but 'Followers of the Messiah'. Or something to that effect.

The Ivy League geniuses in the Carter State Department thought that Ayatollah Khomeini would be a moderate that they could deal with. They withdrew US support from the Shah, who was dying of cancer. Thirty plus years later, the Islamic Republic is supporting terrorism, propping up the tyrant in Syria and preparing to eliminate Israel with nuclear weapons. Also they are threatening to close the Straits of Hormuz, which would starve the Pacific rim nations of oil, collapsing the global economy.

Remember, an Ivy League education means you are part of the elite. Everybody should do what the Harvard and Yale types says for them to do and the world will be a better place, a veritable Utopia.

Right you are, batb. Without the Jews, there would be no Christianity.

Who knew God was so weak that He couldn't have done it without them. Anyway, He was half the King line (Judah), and half the Priest line (Levi) to fulfill prophecy.

Act 11:26 And having found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And that the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch

Jesus was a Jew, not a Christian!

This is actually pretty funny, considering He is Jesus Christ. And Christian means Christ follower.

Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for neither is there another name under the heaven given among men, in which we must be saved."

Gee, doesn't say the Jews save anyone.

"Define "new"."

"New" means the problem started 11 minutes and 42.3 seconds ago.
In the context of the article, though, they seem to be talking about a sea change over the last few decades.

@peterj
Thank you for posting that link again - it is an extremely interesting video and I missed it the first time.

That is delightfully cynical.
