More like the Germans with the V-2s during WWII...they had plenty of screw-ups during the developmental stage; but eventually managed to drop quite a few on London.
And who is the North Korean successor to Werner Von Braun?
Maybe it had help in breaking up, maybe not. However, considering that tiny impovershed N. Korea has developed nuclear weapons, in time they'll figure out the rockets too. After all, the Ruskies and Yanks had a lot of failures when they first started launching....
The rocket broke up after a minute or two ... regime soon to follow, we hope.
From the 'tangentially related' article:
"The thing about communism, at least to the uninitiated, is that it appears to be identical in all respects to a hereditary aristocracy. If one didn’t know better, it would seem that the more communist a country, such as North Korea, the more it resembles a monarchy.'
That must be similar to Ed Broadbent's goal for Canada, no?
'The incident demonstrates an "unblemished track record of failure," said a U.S. official...'
It kind of makes you wonder. Which entity would make a more enlightened despot and contribute to a much more peaceful world stability? The likes of what we have now in these third world sewers? Or something along the lines of a Blackwater or Executive Outcomes running these marginal countries for a profit? And which would be answerable to the MSM for human rights violations? Or economic sanctions?
Of course it broke up. You may have noticed the backyard mechanic tuning it up.
Probably forgot a screw or something.
Now they will have to train a whole new crew of mechanics, since those that built and managed this one are eating bread and water by now in one of the "key" industry camps (as in lots of keys and doors).
In all fairness, it is fairly safe to assume that the NORK's technology is similar to that of the US in the '60's when colour TVs were not terribly reliable.....remember them things?
They were in the shop 3-4 times a year....
Now we buy colour TVs in a box, take 'em home plug 'em in and when they finally screw up 15-20 years later....we just go buy a new one.
as I said yesterday, by everyone calling for it to be shot down, they handed the norkies the perfect setup...if their missile failed yet again they could claim it was 'shot down' and demand 'compensation'...not that they wouldn't have claimed it anyway, but this way 'bama and the media lent a level of credibility to their posturing...the only question is "was it done deliberately to bail the norkies out if they failed ?"
"Or rather, maybe it just makes you realize how fail NK is."
Oh, I don't know.
North Korea has been trundling along for some 64 years now despite a major war, umpteen famines and the collapse of Stalinism and communism pretty well anywhere else on the planet.
They're on to their third Kim for a leader: Saddam could only dream of such regime continuity (no doubt the Assad clan are pretty envious too).
They kidnap foreign nationals on a whim. They make tons of fake Viagra.
They're firing missiles and rockets into the air all the time, they're periodically shelling South Korean villages and sinking South Korean ships.
Meanwhile the world's diplomatic wankers and wieners huff and puff about "unacceptable" this and "unacceptable" that.
Yet the little old DPRK just chugs along regardless.
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

See what happens when you use union labor.. they screw it up...lol
I wonder if the braking up was helped along by a frickin' laser shot out of a 747 flying a couple hundred miles off the coast of Norkistan?

I guess there'll be an immediate transfer of quite a few families into the Marxist/Maoist/Leninist re-education/torture/death camp system.
I think "The Phantom" nailed it spot on.

Just a thing I was wondering about. :)
Misspelled "breaking" though. Stoopid fingers...

Remember that this program is all being funded by Iran. They have plenty of cash to continue it.
A bad omen
lol

So the North Koreans couldn't get their 'Tip O' Dong' rocket up?
Oh, lord.. insert your C*alis/V*agra joke here..
This says it all.

Makes you really respect von Braun. Able to make a better rocket in 1940 using gyroscopes, vacuum tubes, and slave labour.
Or rather, maybe it just makes you realize how fail NK is.
As Jose Jimenez would say - the most important thing in rocket travel is the blast off.

how long until 'bama apologizes for it ?

What did you expect on Friday the 13th?
Funniest headline in a long time, Kate!

Who really looks silly here?
They say that breaking up is hard to do. Now I know, I know that it's true.
