Let’s Erect A Plaque At 787 Dundas St W To Remember Jack Layton

National Post;

Bruce Hyer has quit the New Democrats, electing instead to sit as an Independent member of Parliament, weeks after being at odds with his party about the end of the long-gun registry.

Hyer was one of two New Democrat MPs to vote with the government on the end of the long-gun registry, a move for which he was disciplined.

You can send him a thank you note here.

Great news for freedom lovers everywhere. Now if only 120 other socialists would follow suit. Hopefully this guy will vote for lower taxes, more self-sufficiency, more personal responsibility / personal liberty, etc. We'll see. Regardless, a bad day for the NDP is a good day for liberty.

"Hopefully this guy will vote for lower taxes, more self-sufficiency, more personal responsibility / personal liberty, etc."

Somehow doubt it. Even though he was at odds about the registry he WAS a member of the NDP, after all. So he will likely still stand for higher taxes, less self-sufficiency, less personal responsibility, no personal liberty, etc.

He is a Dipper.
Didn't get a little extra so he quit?

He will get his 6 years in to qualify for pension, think anything else matters?

Well....not considering his motivation...it is still commendable.

Sorry, he's still a socialist idiot.

Kudos to Mr Hyer.

Is that address the rub and tug that Layton was found naked in?

When someone does something you agree with and you want to encourage others to do likewise?

You acknowledge their actions pour encourager les autres.

;)

Its effing hilarious, Spider eyes Tom, getting all ready to tramp up to capital hill like a conquering hero, I'm gonna tell that evil Harper a thing or two... instead, he's ducking and weaving because its pretty obvious he's a vindictive prick... oh Tommy, hows that team building going..

Sorry, he's still a socialist idiot.

That's an understatement! What kind of idiot would be willing to do that much damage to Canada without even researching the facts?

I'd much rather have him voting for the gun registry than that catastrophic new Climate Change Accountability Act that he introduced.

OK, people. We have a leftie who "pleased his enemies". Thanking him for it doesn't make you his friend.

Yeah, you know how much lefties like those participation ribbons...

Jeez Louise! What a day..just as Hyer poops in the Dipper nest, check out how Iggy is trying to `help`the Libs! See Natnewswatch..Quebec independance inevitable.

Apparently the interim leader is fairly Stalinesque when it comes to cadres who
think their loyalty to the anti long gun register masses in their ridings takes priority.
He probably got the big chill once he transgressed.
.

What the eff would Ignatieff know about Canada? He didn't move here that long ago. Besides if Canada breaks up its his effing Liberal party's fault.

Hyer and his fellow NDP'r got "elected"!

They both opposed the gun registry. Good on 'em.

What's YOUR MP's party?

Good on him for this, pure and simple.

Dear Bruce,
Thanks for taking a stand that shows intelligence and respect for law abiding Canadians.

Please keep up the good work and if you have any trouble making up your mind in the future, just remember this day and that we are quite capable of looking after ourselves.

Once the government gets out of the way.

Cheers!

Sent him an email and received a nice reply.

I agree with Curious that encouragement is important; it works for me.

IMO, getting rid of the lgr is the greatest step towards freedom we can expect for now.

As the Dippers bet their future in Quebec it will be interesting to see the long term impact in the western stronghold. If Quebec doesn't deliver the seats next go around the whole alliance could unravel pretty quickly and not prettily.

Power at any price has its own rewards!

I want to take you, Hyer.
