You gotta be kidding?????

Hmmmm. To what can we attribute the crime stats in Toronto to--maybe the effect of high fat lattes!

Gotta be that global warming was the cause...

that neither of the gentleman involved in that unfortunate crime were involved in the oil industry,

themaj, this is the media version of "heads I win, tails you lose". Simple really, economic booms cause crime; economic depressions cause crime. In either case, the media gets to blame industry: in the former because they hire people and pay them well, or in the latter because they don't hire people and they have nothing.

What the media won't tell you is that economic booms draw out the social dregs who would otherwise be committing crimes in their usual haunts.

You seriously gotta be kidding. This is ridiculous.

I'm gobsmacked!

That ending would never have entered my mind.

the justice system brought forth by George W.

.....really?

G had the same reaction I did. Why do people use the word "gentleman" to refer to two bit thugs like this? "Gentleman" is the proper term for upstanding male citizens, just as "lady" is the same for a female. Men who smoke crack and live out of vehicles aren't gentlemen.

lol! I was close.

There was a crystal meth lab discovered in one of the work camps by Williston.

The keystone pipeline?

Well,I guess you could blame the cancellation on the need to increase drilling.

BINGO. Having spent years living/working in Ft.Mac,the last thing any of us sane residents wanted to see was more expansion. This meant more workers, less living space, and mega, mega bucks in the city.So of course the dregs would follow the bucks. Why hang out in Redmonton at 100 bucks an ounce for MJ,when you can get 250 in Mac??? And those dregs literally come from every province and bordering state.

The cbc is doing their usual bang-up job of censoring comments. FIRE.THEM.ALL.

It's all the workers that work hard and have money in the bank. When you make money you should give it to those poor people that haven't got any. So give so this doesn't happen anymore. Remmember now give to those that are to lazy to work because they will come and steal it from you and that is your fault.

Actually if it's anything like Fort McMurry, Sask can expect an influx of Somalian drug dealers and a big spike in murders.

It's not the oil bringing violence though; it's open borders to the Third World. Lots of places have boomed and busted, but no one creates societal mayhem like an African national or their children landed in some milk & honey.

Video proof – Of course they try to blame Canadian society:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVG91tqKZKA

So because these scuzzbags came from Colorado to Montana we now have to spend more tax dollars to further secure the border? Maybe they have something here. Let's discourage all industry. We can all get good paying government jobs that are 'gentle and peaceful'. Or just go on the dole. That outta work.

A few months past I posted here of the murder rates in the American states bordering us. I recall South Dakota having a very low per capita rate, and North Dakota / Montana having rates lower than Sask, Alberta or Manitoba. Perhaps the CBC might recognize that this sort of thing spills both ways across the border. ... But what sort of reporting do u expect for a billion $ a year?

I guessed Obamacare for letting wacky people out too early, I sure was wrong eh?

Really there's no excuse for this type of media malfeasance. Pure propaganda, plain and simple.

No, children, never go west where you can keep what you earn. You'll be safer in central Canada where you can pay crushing taxes to allow the dregs of the Islamic world to breed like cockroaches, freed from the burden of working to support their three or four bomb factories and their individual litters.

Or you could see that your daughters are trained in the use of firearms and are taught to never leave the house without either a male escort or a gun in their purses.

Do these idiots at the CBC want the plug pulled on them or are they just past caring?

I haven't looked yet, but I'm guessing Mitt Romney's action of tying his dog to the roof of the car. (roof roof from the roof)

I thought that according to our betters that guns kill, not oil, diamonds and POTASH! Thats the next big boom in Sask.,and the crime rate will sky rocket,O,the horrer of it all.

So having fewer people means less crime even though Winnipeg's murder rate is higher than Toronto's. Got it.

I can't believe it wasn't global warming!

My second guess was "Barack Obama".

I have an idea. Lets set a system where we put those in a place, where they can't up set the rest of us. Maybe a place were they are held where they can't hurt others. Oh sorry that won't work, we can't put bad boys where they can't hurt others. That's not PC.

I'm wondering when all the geniuses out there blaming everything from guns to Barbie dolls will eventually get around to studying Demographics.

The ending vs. the middle and headline is shocking. Thank you for pointing-out the story.

Eric

Is George Bush to blame?

What !

Its just gone tour change out here @ 00:30 and I've got a whole rig of "oil field workers" who would gladly "educate" the CBC and be more than happy to meet out a bit of justice to a couple of thugs,
regardless of who they think they are, or where they are from.

That report is an insult to the hard working, drug free, energy providing, real workers of the entire globe.

Bingo!

These people are talking shit, because they do know better, and we know better. They have an agenda to sell to the public that goes well beyond truth much less any facts.

Booming western economies will bring in Toronto based third world crime, a fact that CBC has already reported (see my link above).

Western oilfield workers make more than enough money to make a Toronto University Professor cry, and they do, read about it in the CBC.

To be fair, this phenomenon was noted in Fort McMurry when it was (is?) booming. Lots of young bored workers + lots of quick money = drugs booze and other (often blackmarket) fun. It's the 'blackmarket' part that is the root of the violence, not the oil or Somalians.

OMG, a working man crime wave. Unprecedented. Another example of how manmade co2 is different from the other stuff (33 times more prevalent too).

LAS >

Nope still going on today, read some Edmonton news because the Somali gangsters base themselves out of Edmonton.

The Somalis have spread across much of Alberta now selling drugs openly on streets and in many bars from GP through Red Deer down to Med Hat, Brooks, etcetera.

But we are definitely culturally enriched, I’m feel’n it are you?

Yup.
Oil drilling causes kidnapping,
just like trailer parks cause tornadoes.

Knight99

As we both know the ignorance out in the general population is sometimes astounding. As you say the media should and do know better, but hey the hollywood script of outlaws plays so much easier than real journalism, and sure it also fits their agenda.
Real drilling people have to be smart, its like a farmer, operating a 1/4million dollar sat controlled combine ain't for a straw chewing yokel, and the oil industries multi-million dollar cyber chair fully auto dual derrick deep water, or even 3-5 man rapid land rigs ain't for no drunks.
You don't give a cheap Nascar/Formula 1 car to a drunk driver, and you don't let idiots loose on multi million dollar rigs sitting on top of billion dollar assets.
It may have been different once upon a time, but then once upon a time farmers used horses and mules those days are and have been gone for longer than most people think.

LAS >

As a footnote: these "bored young workers" work hard and earn around 100K a year as youngsters. They aren’t bored they put in an average 12 - 20 hour days to earn it, with very little time off.

Granted a few impoverished Newfies have shown up falling off the proverbial turnip truck into a grain bin of wealth for themselves, but that's just the Newfies. The smart ones become good western citizens; the dumb ones end up going home with a sad story.

I thought it was an extension of the STDs the womenfolk are catching from fracking.

DSV >

Yup, I'm with you having spent over 30 years and still going sitting on rigs all over the world’s oceans and land masses.

I've taken more drug tests and breathalysers for projects or getting on offshore choppers than I could ever possibly remember from day one green to well site supervisor. Training, training and more training, the western based oilfield is as professional as it gets.

That is why we know they LIE!

Ontario is the prime destination for immigrants. Yet its homicide rate (1.5 per 100,000 persons) is below the national average of 1.9.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Canada#Crime_statistics_by_province_and_territory

CBCpravda doesnt see the crime stats in the NWT and Yukon where there is no oil boom as significant.

or in the free drug haven of downtown vancouver where there is no crime , Sarc off.

Duoh, should have known.
I remember the same scary article warning about the "crimewave" in Pennsylvania. right over 50 trillion cubic feet of never previously imagined natural gas.
Marcelus shale???

I can't find the article on google???

The CBC does this sort of thing every day.

Cut the funding and sell them.

Yes, as a couple of people have commented, George W. Bush is the origin of all the world's problems.
Why blame the Bakken?

Gee,my son works in the 'patch'..should I be worried?

Since the two weren't involved in the oil industry, one must conclude that the problems were caused by all the jobs and money created as knock on benefits by . . . (according to their own "studies") . . . the CBC! One more reason to shut them down: lowering the crime rate.
