Heads up. I just received this via email;
Sadly Toews was not correct. As it stands right now the ammunition regs are going forward with minor amendment.

When you get the copy of the amendment, please post it here. This sounds like a gong show in Ottawa supplied by bureaucrats pissed about losing the registry, and taking it out on gun owners (again).
Said: Get out of my house. Will they listen?
This law sounds essentially unenforceable to me . . . unless Canadians are silly enough to confess to the Gesta . . . er, police that they did _not_ store the ammunition as required by the soft-totalitarian regulations.
This is nonsensical, why is this an issue suddenly in natural resources Canada... it never has been a problem in the past,
Just goes to show who runs the country - and they are not elected.
Remember the British comedy, Yes Minister. More truth than you think. The bureaucrats can wait out and or undermine an elected official's plans because they know they are not going anywhere.
This is the same NRCAN that refused to allow the import of some military surplus calibers (WWII stuff) because of mercury in the primers.
They argued that no one knew how toxic the primers were, but would not allow testing because a) the ammo would have to be tested by them, b) they would not test the ammo because c) no one knew how toxic the primers were.
Ironically, this was about the time CFL bulbs were to be mandatory.
Whatever. More useless regulations to ignore.
I just told the PM to come and get my amo. It will be fast and hot. Hope he can catch one.
"This law sounds essentially unenforceable to me . . ."
Yeah but it'd be a great way for insurance companies to screw you.
Also it represents another BS catch-all charge that the cops can use, just like "unsafe storage of a firearm".
Get out of my house!
This law will also be real handy for the cops to use as a harassment tactic against anyone they don't happen to like, and who the cops dislike is not necessarily just the criminal element.
We have to start another E-mail campaign to our local MP's,I guess.
My favourite gun shop has stacks of hundreds of boxes of ammo all over the floor of the shop. If they were forced to lock them up,they'd probably have to rent storage somewhere else as there's no room in their building.
Toews had better call these bureaucrats in and give them a talking to. It appears they are determined to subvert the will of the people who elected this government.
They CAN be fired, and maybe if a few of them were, it'd strike fear into the whole communist lot of them.
Oh no.....so Vic Toews is uninformed again? ..and where is he now to complain about undermining democratic process?
Wadda ya expect....the bureaucrats really resent "political interference".
He must have been too busy playing with the new baby to notice.
Un, a@c, threatening to shoot the Prime Minister is a bit over the top and rather illegal, isn't it?
There's only one explanation: you're all standing with the child pornographers.
yes, we don't need to be under surveilance, but the government needs to be by the looks of this law.
Kate,
Can you provide more on the source of this? I know it came via email, but seems a bit thin.
Us gun owners/hunters are keen to know who to write to make sure the bureaucrats get their knuckles rapped!!
Happy Easter.
Kids kill kids. Guns don't kill kids.
Freedom Warrior at April 7, 2012 12:39 PM :That's no threat. I just said I would give him all my amo. How he handles it is up to him.

"Guns don't kill kids."
Bingo, Muslims parents kill kids with suicide vests, and Liberals kill millions of little black kids before they are even born.
We need more guns. These are dangerous times.
