I didn't realize until just now that this 'strike' has some legitimacy, but in some weird Quebec way. I always assumed that it was kids saying they were on strike because it sounded good, but they have voted and are supported by the professors.
When do we get to vote to toss this wasteland of quasi-Canadians out of confederacy?
Maybe we can sell them all to France.
There's entitlement, there's greed, and then there's young Quebecers, who take it to a whole new level. What a backwards place it has become. Rioting over $325 per year. Sick.
What else is expected from an entitlement society?
Paid for with Alberta oilsands dollars, no less. Oilsands that they hate, from a province that they also hate. Something's really sick and twisted here.
If this strike drags on, for, say 10 years, where will Canada find all the basket weavers and liberal artsies and social studiers and political studies types our economy so desperately requires?? We could be in a heck of a bind. *
* Is there a single Canadian who believes this is not satire?

Do not forget that soon they will be getting money from Saskatchewan as well, and I am sure they [Sask.] will feel the same way as Alberta. '
The transfer formuls has to change ... I would rather see the billions go to Maritimes, than to Quebec, where they would use it more wisely for infrastructure jobs and ... since most of them work in Alberta already ... they would be at least thankful. [It iwll never happen though, Quebec expects/demands Canada to pay them, to stay in Canada.]
Hey this is Quebec, they are special just ask Justin Turdeau. Its not their concern when it comes to financial responsibility, thats Albertas job.Just pay the bill when you get it and let us Quebecers get on with destroying your country and building our own.As for the rest of us remember to flush twice its a long way to Quebec!
That article demonstrates but one of the many reasons why this Yank has concluded Canada would be far better off sans Quebec. Give 'em 5 years as a sovereign state and they'll be the Greece of North America.
I've worked with French Quebeckers both in their province and in Alberta. They were pretty normal people with the same aspirations for their lives that I and my colleagues had. That was probably because we were all adults and we were working in the non unionized private sector. Unfortunately it appears there are not nearly enough of them.
Oh, well, after separation they would have little problem finding places in Canada.
You got that right cal2...it's about time Quebec's drilling for Alberta petro-dollars socialist rig GTFO location.
These punk-ass university snots are nothing more then a usefull idiot army for a coalition of separatists, unions, mafia, rent seekers, artsy fartsies and tenured intelegensia.
Canada needs a new statement of individual principles, appended to the Charter or the Bill or Rights or something. Doesn't matter what.
Quebec won't sign it. We can shrug and move on with only nine provinces. Budgets balanced!
The Quebec university tuition rates are the lowest in Canada, subsidized, of course, by Canadians outside of Quebec.
BUT - did you know that these same in-Quebec tuition rates are also available to foreign students in Quebec? But only to francophone students, students from countries where French is the national language. So, students from France, Belgium etc, come to Quebec to get their degree. It's far cheaper for them to do this than in their own country.
BUT, students in Canada who might want to study in Quebec have to pay a higher tuition rate! The wording is; "Students of French citizenshi pay Quebec status fees rather than international fees".
Now, per term, for 15 credits, a Quebec AND foreign student from eg, Belgium, pays 1,085.
The same 15 credits for a student from Alberta or Ontario? Almost 3,000. Hmm.
And for an 'international student' from, let's say the US or Germany? $7,500.
Got that? Quebec students and international French-speaking students pay a pittance. Students from anywhere outside of Quebec in Canada pay THREE times as much!
Again, at McGill, a year's two term tuition is a little over 2,000. For one year! But only for Quebec and ah, those from French nations such as France, Belgium.. For Alberta, Ontario, etc, the tuition is 5,858. For non-French international, it's 23,000.
And these students are rioting!? For an increase of 325 dollars a term? When the people who pay for this subsidized education must pay three times the Quebec tuition costs?
I just love knowing that for a change my tax dollars went into something useful, like one of those police batons that get to beat some reality into these little pricks, the way their dope smoking hippy parents never would.
For the first time in my life I sort of wished I'd become a cop. But the easy entertainment value on TV and Utube is pretty damned good as well.
I hope this goes on for awhile, and these little ingrates get really wound up.

...is there a down side here?
But I do like the picture at the bottom of the cop smiling. Its the kind of smile that says "I'm going to enjoy smacking you with this stick, kid."

I noticed in the article English language universities are absent.
For what it's worth:
"Faculty of Arts students turned out in huge numbers Tuesday night to vote down a motion calling for them to participate in an unlimited strike in protest against the Quebec government’s plan to increase tuition over the next five years."

It's time for Alberta to cut off their allowance.
These so-called "students" of our fine schools of higher learning will find that they all have one thing in common.
They are all unemployable.

It is Quebec, who notices, who cares?
Let them corrode for the inside out and let Wild Rose object to having their money squandered in Quebec.
Let the games begin.

$325 over 1 year is about equal to 1 good days pay in Alberta/Sask.
BTW, when they ban the goon squads in Quebec?

Now is the time to tell Quebec, you're on your own, you have independence enjoy paying your own bills and don't come back for a financial refund.
