The lesson: learn from history.

The North American Indian people should have fought and killed all the sailors on those boats as soon as they found out that they planned to stay. The NA Indian people let the strangers off the boats and allowed them to get back on the boats and sail back to Europe. The Europeans came back with more people and disease - the disease wiped out the NA population and allowed the Europeans to get a foothold; it was downhill all the way from there for the NA Indian people.

The chief says "This is our land, it belongs to my people". The chief should have defended the land by killing the sailors or forcing them to stay and live like/with the Indian people.

Later, the American people fought a revolution to make the USA an independent country (independent from Europe) with a Constitution that declared all citizens endowed with inalienable Rights with a government subservient to the all powerful citizen. The European rot soon set in with the importation of thousands of Africa people who were sold as property. People who had been slaves to a King in Europe were willing to sell their new found liberty for prosperity at the expense of another mans/womans freedom.

Slavery is the worst evil that can ever befall any nation; the glaring contradiction in the United States undermined the fine nation that had been created.

Slavery in a nation with a magnificent Constitution that declared all people endowed by the Creator with certain Rights, forced the people to compromise the very Liberty they had fought for, right from the beginning.

We look at slavery today in the western world through a different lens than the third world, and some of the European colonists. In truth after the civil war many in the “anti slavery movement” viewed the introduction of blacks not unlike the Australians viewed the introduction of destructive European plant and animal species to the Australian ecosystem from a societal/ cultural standpoint. Abraham Lincoln was one of them, and in many ways they were right. You only need to see the history of cultural destruction along with endless racial violence to know it as fact. – K99

That said, it is almost completely devoid of fact.

One thing, which Jema54 and others might note, is that Aborigines did not have the same views of land holding that we do. It was more a matter of rights of usage.

And of course the Aborigines were anything but a homogeneous lot. There are over 600 bands in Canada today,
and a lot of suspicion and mistrust exists among them even today.

And here is a question for the whites-are-evil school: why are there Indians living on the Canadian plains?

Knight 99 - this video shows the British arriving in North America first. We all know that the Spanish arrived in the New World first and that the Spanish took over South America and Mexico. Anyone visiting the cities of the Mayans, Incas or Aztecs will recognize the sophistication and power of these Civilizations. The people of north and south America were defeated, not by guns and superior power but by disease: deposited in the poop of Spanish sailors. I do not for a moment believe that the Spanish could have conquered such powerful people without a powerful ally, that ally in this case was death via disease.

The diseases had already spread to North America by the time that the British and French arrived - they were confronting a decimated, weak population, IMO. I was interpreting the video as it was presented.

as a 'reason' to fight a Civil war. Lincoln did not plan to abolish slavery when he got elected, he did it two years into the war, and then he only liberated Confederate slaves. Later extended to include the Union states.

No, it was the rot from Europe that perpetuated the war that destroyed the liberty enshrined in the original Constitution. Europe was 'worried'; USA was 'influencing' the peons in Europe, the serfs there wanted some rights. The msm of the day made the Civil War into a moral war about slavery/Constitution/religion - it was really about money and power. The Civil War brought USA to it's knees, just as the Europeans wanted, and destroyed state's rights and individual citizen's rights.

The club of righteousness could have never been used to justify the slaughter had slavery been outlawed with the victory over England, IMO.

The irony here is incredible. Whatever the video intended, it hilariously demonstrates the nonviability and idiocy of nativist anti-immigration arguments. If that Indian (an attenuated red Sherriff Arpaio) had gotten his way, North America would still be ruled over by primitives. Thank goodness immigration proceeded apace.
