There is a cliché in Washington. There are two things you do not want to see made: sausage and laws. To those we may add a third: Barack Obama’s decisions.
Ron Suskind’s book Confidence Men portrays Barack Obama as being confounded by his duties as president. Some of the scenes depicted by Suskind would be comical if they were not so tragic for America. For example, when Obama’s experts assembled to discuss the scope and intricacies of the stimulus bill, Barack Obama was out of his depth. He was “surprisingly aloof in the conversation” and seemed “disconnected and less in control.” His contributions were rare and consisted of blurting out such gems of wisdom as “There needs to be more inspiration here!” and “What about more smart grids” and — one more that Newt Gingrich would appreciate — “we need more moon shot”.
Even “Pelosi and her staff visibly rolled their eyes.”
Suskind writes:
Members of the team were perplexed…for the first time in the transition, people started to wonder just how prepared the man at the helm was.

and yet, it seems nearly inevitable at this point that he will be re-elected. It’s a pure tragedy.

For a president to say that there are 57 states and one more to visit and nothing is made of it, anything Obama does or says is nothing; he in fact, was over to the wh in a silver platter.

I mean the man has a BS resume that usually consigns people to, if they VERY lucky, some kind of figure-head management where his Admin Assistant and a cabal of other management actually run the org. I.e. He’s the inoffensive chap who slipped up the middle because the REAL powers realized they couldn’t allow any of themselves take power over the others.

I disagree. All evidence points to Obama being a token. I submit that he hasn’t fooled anyone recently, other people have done the fooling for him. He doesn’t even run the water in that house. Some polls have him losing to two and even three of the four remaining Republican candidates. I do not think his handlers will allow that to happen. They put him in, and they will take him out. This linked article may be the trigger.
Americans have checked, “Vote for a black President” off their ‘to do’ list.
I think the next election will be a landslide.
The reason why President Obama gets a free ride is a result of the media (and a good number of voters) suffering from “Sauron syndrome”. They put the President where he is today, and turning back now would be like Sauron tossing the One Ring into Mount Doom. Their power would be broken.
A 50 year working life taught me a lot of things and one of them was the really dangerous people are the ones who are dumb and think they are smart. They surround themselves with people who for whatever reason affirm them. Fortunately I worked in a business that didn’t tolerate fakers. Politics isn’t like that. A clever faker can go all the way to the top.
