David Menzies explains what appears to be Toronto’s next big scandal.

There isn’t any islamic countries in the americas, why would additional security even be necessary?
I don’t really care if the Pan Am games are held in Toronto, but I do think the federal government should make funding limits for this event carved in stone. Ontario can cover the cost overrides, not the ROC.
… even if it means canceling the games days prior to opening day.
There are still Pan Am games? I thought they died out in the 60s
You realize that stuff like “Pan-Am” games is all private showbiz sports run by promoters. Not a penny of public money for this crap.
Menzies is right,no one cares about the Pan-Am Games anymore. With so many sporting events on TV today, second rate events get short shrift from the viewers and thus, the sponsors.
Toronto won’t back out though, that just isn’t done,as they know they can always go to the good old Canadian taxpayer for more moolah.
If the events attract half full houses, look for the organizers to give free tickets to Union members to fill the seats and look good on television.
As Menzies said,it’s a scam, and eventually, all Canadians will pay for it.
The Pan Am games – B league all the way. What an embarrassment.
I’ll go further, I’m for canceling all international sporting events that are not self supporting and that includes right up to the Olympics. Governments need to get back to the basics of their purpose and that does not include funding elite athletes or providing them with the facilities to perform in.
