  1. Joe Bast, president and CEO of The Heartland Institute, responds to a group of scientists who are urging GOP candidates to “acknowledge the science of climate change”:
“I’m not interested in what a small and non-representative group of liberal academics BELIEVE. I know you all trusted the United Nations to deliver truthful reports about the science of climate change, and you were fooled. With your careers (and probably political ideologies) now at risk, you will be among the last, not the first, to abandon a disproven scientific theory.
“I want to see PROOF that climate models are reliable guides to future climate trends, since surveys of climate scientists suggest large majorities of them believe they are NOT. I want PROOF that the warming of the late 20th century didn’t stop around 2000, even though NASA’s satellites say it did. And I want PROOF that there is anything we can do, short of simply ending modern civilization and forcing billions of people to starve to death, that would have any discernible effect on the world’s climate.
“Give me that evidence, and I’ll take you seriously. Otherwise, stick to science, and leave the politics to us.”
    The whole thing here.

  2. The ever-so-classy Heather Mallick, writing in The Star, makes reference to David Frum’s wife Danielle Crittenden, who Frum remains happily married to:
“(David) Frum once wrote a column saying he knew he and his wife would never divorce – am I dreaming this? It was a bleak time in my life, etc. etc. – and I laughed at his underestimation of the woman who married him.”
Eee-ew. Reach desperately for the bitter, disinfectant sorrow-soap, etc. etc.

  3. Thanks for the first vid EBD, I think we can safely say the “Warriors of Goja” have earned their title!
The B.C. Supreme court has upheld Canada’ polygamy laws. Chief Justice Robert Bauman in a 335-page decision ruled in favour of Section 293 of the Criminal Code which deemed polygamous marriages unconstitutional. “I have concluded that this case is essentially about harm,” wrote Chief Justice Robert Baumann. “This includes harm to women, to children, to society and to the institution of monogamous marriage.”
So will Heather ‘Mallice’ have a conniption that the polygamy law first brought in by Parliament in 1890 was upheld? Her being a revolutionary fembot and all…?

  4. EBD, Thanks, your first video keeps SDA fair and balanced with the subtitle “Why some men are burning out at work by 30.”

  5. From a photo caption in the Washington Post Blog:
“Dylan Bozlee, of Hilo, Hawaii, has his foot taped by volunteer EMT David McClintock of Philadelphia at the Occupy Philadelphia encampment at City Hall on Nov. 15. Bozlee dropped out of college at the University of Hawaii to join Occupy, and says he’d rather travel across America than get a job. ‘Do I want to work? Only if I wanted a home, wife, kids and a dog. If not, I think you’re ruining your life,’ he said. Before the march, Bozlee was a member of the Class Warfare camp at Zuccotti Park in New York, where he says he joined other anarchists in teaching passersby about the concept of warfare of the lower classes against the upper class…”
    Seriously.

  6. A couple of choice email snippets via Forbes contributor James Taylor:
    Phil Jones:
“Any work we have done in the past is done on the back of the research grants we get – and has to be well hidden…I’ve discussed this with the main funder (U.S. Dept of Energy) in the past and they are happy about not releasing the original station data.”
Jonathan Overpeck, coordinating lead author of the IPCC’s most recent assessment:
“The trick may be to decide on the main message and use that to guid[e] what’s included and what is left out”
    Now that’s science!

  7. Mississauga Matt>
I note that these tearful fellows are upset because they want to build a new world and their library is being torn down. I assume that everyone has noted the black flag of anarchism flying proudly in the background.

  8. A Personal Thanksgiving Reflection by Sarah Palin
I am thankful that, as in so many areas of life, the bitter people who say bitter things about someone facing challenges are so outnumbered. There have been stinging criticisms, even from people still screaming that Trig should never have been born, but we know those critics may be the loudest and most malicious, but they’re not the majority.

Is this a scientist or a business executive?
“We (Mike H) have done a modest amount of work on degree-days for G-S. They
now want to extend this. They are involved in dealing in the developing
    energy futures market.
G-S is the sort of company that we might be looking for a ‘strategic
alliance’ with. I suggest the four of us meet with ?? (forgotten his name)
for an hour on the afternoon of Friday 12 June (best guess for Phil & Jean
    – he needs a date from us). Thanks.”

  10. Some comments of the court polygamous decision. I agree with the decision, but not the reasoning. If the local Mexican community started practising human sacrifice because it was part of their religion would we through up our arms in dispair and do nothing because they had a right to do it on religious grounds?
Are the relationships being practised in Bountiful marriages? Are they getting licenses and then registering their relationships with the state? If they don’t does the state have any control over it. When young girls were running away from bountiful saying they were being forced into marriages against their will (which the state hadn’t sanctified), why didn’t the state act to charge someone with kidnapping, forcible confinement or rape?

  11. Alberta is about to pass new ‘drunk driving’ legislation. Actually, they are about to pass a law that makes almost committing a crime an offense with immediate penalties.
“Drivers with a blood alcohol content between .05 and .08 also face penalties.”

Next up on the new liberal/conservative agenda, domestic abuse. We all know that it is wrong,so why not make those who may one day assault their spouse take a course on anger management now before the crime is committed.
If it saves just one life………..

  12. The hypocritical statements from Liberals is simply stunning and you must admire that they can say them with a straight face. Duncan, McGuinty’s Finance Minister.
“As all Ontarians know, continuing to borrow without curbing spending is simply not sustainable.”he said.
Even though his government has raised the provincial debt by more than $100-billion since 2003 without once curbing spending. Total debt is heading toward $300-billion in coming years.
McGuinty and his wrecking crew have destroyed Ontario’s economy and now this is their response, just unreal.

  13. I read the Mallick article–as I read all of her pieces–with a kind of awful fascination. Her writing is incoherent and reeks of malice (a good nickname by the way). She reminds me of Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies.

  14. Over here in Victoria the #occupests plan on ruining the santa clause parade. I predict they will also try to do the same elsewhere like in NYC. I really hope the Dems and the libdippers continue to support this stuff. It’s pure gold politically for our side.

  15. dmorris, you suggested “Go Dalton, Go!!!”. You forgot to suggest where he might go. I have some suggestions.
Is there not an intelligent decent Liberal anywhere that can bring back the Liberal Party to its Classical Liberal roots? No, I guess not. It is too late.

  16. Guest post: Cutting student aid like ‘eating our own seed corn’By Daniel de Vise
Here is a guest post from Dennis Berkey, president and CEO of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass.
Since early September, the Congressional supercommittee has been meeting to discuss dramatic cuts ($1.2 trillion) to our national budget. However, before they make any decisions on education, they should talk to Jackie.
    […]
But one day a friend brought Jackie to the WPI campus and she fell in love with the school. More importantly, she fell in love with the idea of a future. That same friend told her about federal aid programs that help pay tuition. Because of these federal programs, combined with WPI’s own financial aid, Jackie found a way to pay for college.
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/college-inc/post/guest-post-cutting-student-aid-like-eating-our-own-seed-corn/2011/11/22/gIQADl11kN_blog.html?tid=sm_twitter_washingtonpost

  17. Comment following above article:
Taxpayers who never went to college and never will are nevertheless paying federal taxes through the nose to subsidize Jackie’s college education. Is that fair (in the social justice sense of fair)? Perhaps Jackie should take Janice the factory floor worker’s position and pay taxes for 10 years so Janice can go to WPI. Wouldn’t that be more fair?
It gets even more unfair, though. See, 100% of the taxes Janice pays to send Jackie to WPI are kept by WPI, part of which pays President and CEO de Vise’s hefty salary and benefits. So while Janice slaves away on the factory floor, Jackie enjoys her college experience and Mr. de Vise enjoys his McMansion, BMW, six week paid vacations, all while looking forward to those golden years in which he’ll live high on the hog off of a fat pension. All at Janice’s expense (and thousands like her). Boy, that seems fair to me.
Then there’s my story. I spent three years in the Army in a foreign country tying junk to rail cars to pay my way through community and state college (average annual tuition: $2,000). What did Janice get in return for this arrangement? Some national security, for starters. So why can’t Jackie do the same?
Academia is a rotten, exploitive elite ensconced in an ivory tower scam built with the sweat and dreams of millions of Janices and Jackies. If we want America to be competitive and succeed in future, we’ve got to knock that ivory tower down.

  22. Malice highlights, for those who wish to spare themselves:
“It was a bleak time in my life and I am recalling ancient nightmares.” Always. Always.“I am a feminist and when I like a man’s wife, some of that goodwill spills off on him.” Oh. What?“The story is that teenage girls are getting drunk via vodka-dipped tampons. Why? To get drunk faster? To numb up for a dire sex experience with male Young Republicans?” Huh? Gross. Huh? “To lure David Frum’s wife into a washroom car crash? Who knows.” Whaaaa?!?“Okay, so the Frums have never experimented with champagne. (Do not, by the way.) This sheds light on why Orwellian Anti-Sex League Republicans are so cranky. Oh, live a little, you people.” Makes if anything less sense in context. “Hard-right alcopop Kool-Aid is the same whether you drink it or tip it in. If you think the free market is wise, it doesn’t matter whether Mitt Romney wants to cut off unemployment benefits or Newt Gingrich says child labour laws are stupid.” I wonder how Heather’s mind did that. Why doesn’t it matter? Would it matter if Gingrich boiled puppies or wanted to nuke Belgium or played a mean accordian? I just, I don’t…“I hope (Crittenden) is now sitting comfortably, holding hands with her gobsmacked husband, on the knowledge she has gained.” (Gained by inserting a vokda-soaked tampon into her “personal”, I guess as opposed to public, vagina.)
It is cruel to publish this woman’s writings. It’s the journalistic equivalent of exhibiting conjoined twins in a carnival sideshow to be mocked, except it isn’t because the twins know why they’re there. I am not exaggerating.

  23. Thanks for that (3:16), Ken. For some reason I find that really, really funny — not the fact that she flips him the bird, but the calm “oomph” with which she does it. Hilarious.
