Gee whiz, you would think that the big “0” is doing business a favour by saving all those dollars with regulations. Too bad the industry folks never thought of improving their bottom line by saving fuel costs.
For those of a trollish persuasion, that was sarcasm.
Never-ending stupid regulations are killing enterprise. When will we wake up and take control of these rogue agencies that seek to destroy our lives?
Gee whiz INDEED. He has got to got to go!
Nothing like kicking the trucking and energy industries while they are trying to get out of the double dip recession. It is almost unbelievable at the stupidity of the current US administration.
But then, some of think that this is part of the plan to de-industrialize the US.
I,m with Ken. This is deliberate. No one is this stupid. His whole plan is to debade America. Him with his allies in blight.
Barry is now desperate to get his re-election campaign back on track.
I’m thinking he’ll do what he has always done – he’ll throw the EPA under the bus and hope it will give the economy a little juice to help his chances in 2012.
President Hypocrite is nothing but consistent with his use of the political bus.
America used to be a big block Mustang driven by Mario Andretti. Now it’s a Fiat 500 driven by Mr. Magoo.
Well, I thimk they could meet the lofty emmission/consumption goals if everyone would just eat more french-fries and deep-fried junk food.
Then N. America would have more grease to recycle into .75 cents/liter biofuel (I read that on SDA).
Yeah…that’s the ticket!
And more people would die early from eating all that junk food…and that would help the world population crisis…and there would be less people to drive SUVs…
Brilliant, eh? Who’d a thunk it? French Fries!
I’m thinking he’ll do what he has always done – he’ll throw the EPA under the bus and hope it will give the economy a little juice to help his chances in 2012.
Not likely.
If he did that he’d lose his hardcore Leftist environmentalist base.
Besides, he doesn’t want to juice the economy.
Quite the opposite.
I remember people on this site in January 2009 saying they hoped Obama would succeed.
This is Obama succeeding.
Jimmy Hoffa might be smiling. The unionized carriers would probably get some benefit from it in order to squeeze out the independants.
Your food and TP supply controlled by thugs.
Stalin starved the Ukraine by keeping food from reaching them. Control the logistics and you control the people.
Sorry. No fuel for the bread trucks to your village comrade Amerikan.
But, on second thought, Jimmy was a proud American…
Americans are too pussified to react.
And too stupid to realize that.

Hey..OK…no camera mobings down at Dundas Square to report on? How’s that situation going these days?
On the subject at hand so many voices, all of whom are likely to be more knowledgeable than me, seem to suggest something is not quite right with where Obama is steering the ship. Go figure.

This is all part of the plan to destroy the country. Greenhouse emissions, bah!-they continue on as though the scam that is Man made global warming is not a hoax of gigantic proportions and carry on with their regulation hell. They intend to DESTROY every aspect of life than can be productive while gathering ALL monies of all kind unto themselves and into their control. When they have all industry on it’s needs and the people desperate for any kind of normalcy they will have succeeded in ‘fundamentally transforming the country’. Four more years? The US cannot survive the first four.
Highway truck engines already have very tough emissions controls.
Caterpillar quit building highway engines for a few years because their approach to cleaning them up didn’t work.
They couldn’t meet the next level of regulations.
Cummins and others took a different appoach and managed to meet the regs.
Cat is re-entering the market with a complete truck, powered by a Cat branded Navistar engine.
The point is, the emission regulations are already very tough and expensive.
Of course those regulations are for real pollution, not imaginary problems like C02.
This ruling doesn’t bite until 2015….after 2012…just another reason to make sure that OBOZO and LISA JACKSON are just a bad memory by the time 2015 rolls around….
Ezra likes to call obama a manchurian candidate and he’s right, the US president is an empty suit, a puppet. And I fear our neighbours to the north can’t survive this man and his evil puppetmasters.
After 2012 … the primary role of the US government will be repealing acts initiated by these clowns.
That is why it is very important that the GOP do not run a RINO or a poser like Romney ….. Bolton would be just the kind of guy for the job.
There must be some kind of contest to be the worst president ever.
God forbid we should ever let private industries determine how to manage/cut costs.
I’m not sure which course this strategy was gleaned from:
1) How to over-regulate a country into oblivion 101
2) How to stifle growth in 1 easy step
3) How to be worst US president ever in a single term
Tough call. This guy has GOT to go. I’m 52 with a good sized pension in a large US based corporation. I have no personal control over my pension unless I quit (after 32 years). I’m feeling more than a tad vulnerable right now.
Why is the US (and Quebec)intercoursed?
Because a majority voted for HIM. That means more than 50% of the population can’t smell a turd when it walks up and kisses them.
Jamie MacMaster
Turd Avoidance 101…
On the “Debt Man Walking” thread Davenport was taking WalterF and I to task for being overly optimistic about the savings to be had from cutting the EPA budget in half.
Davenport my dear, I rest my case.
I’ve got some skin in the trucking fuel economy game, and I can tell you – there are no more 10% improvements in fuel economy. Good luck making those goals.
The US Department of Energy is stuck in cloud cuckoo land with their approach. Ignores what’s really out there saving fuel, while pouring money into concepts that won’t last a day in the real world. Canada’s Fleetsmart program is sort of the same, but has a slightly more sane approach.
The alarmists assure us that cutting emissions will rejuvinate the economy and bring about a boom! You guys are just being pessimistic.
I said from the very beginning that this farking idiot Obama was dangerous. I just didn’t know how dangerous. He no sooner gets through with creating massive uncertainty with his denial of the financial mess he helped create, the very next day he burdens the transportation industry with more unreachable, stupid regulation. Unbe-farking-lievable.
Could someone explain to me how my truck saves on fuel consumption when it has to sit on the side of the road at high-idle for a half hour while a big canister is injected with yet MORE diesel to burn supposedly harmful particulates?
This is Obama succeeding. Bingo! Oz @7:16. Good comment Snow Bunny.
Cut the EPA out of the grid and start ignoring all the regs.
Jaimie, they voted for that turd because they liked the colour.
