Tweaking computer models like this proves nothing. The real test is in the real world data. The temperature hasn’t increased for over a decade. For there to be any faith in the underlying scientific assumptions the world has to start warming soon, at an enhanced rate to compensate for it being held back for a decade.
Despite what the authors of this paper state after their tinkering with an out of date climate computer model, there is as yet no convincing explanation for the global temperature standstill of the past decade.
Either man-made and natural climatic effects have conspired to completely offset the warming that should have occurred due to greenhouse gasses in the past decade, or our estimation of the ‘climate sensitivity’ to greenhouse gasses is too large.

By coincidence, I just found and watched a film, Silver Streak, about [diesel] trains that could reach 120MPH - released in 1934 and "starring" just such a train which was in actual service! Interesting for other stuff, as well: building Boulder Dam, early Iron Lungs (anyone else old enough to remember those?).
China's increase in coal usage is responsible for the flat temps over the last decade? That's pretty convenient.
In 2000, the world used 8,665 million metric tons of coal (china 2,156).
In 2009, the world used 13,393 million metric tons of coat (china 6,476).

Hmm, so if their emissions to date have "stopped" global warming, then their continued increase in coal usage will obviously overwhelm the natural climate and cause a major cooling episode.

These fools have been blabbering for years that the coal plants were going to *increase* global warming. Lock 'em up I say.

The truth is the COLD WAR is over...their side lost.....but they won't accept that.
That freon/ozone hole nonsense was just a test run.....
Actually freon likely has nothing to with it....cold and lack of sunlight during polar winters does.....
They knew about the ozone layer but were unaware that holes develop over the poles every winter....and likely always have.
This sulphur polition thing may have some merit but it is being advanced to cover their academic/lefty butts because the alleged warming ended over a decade ago.

Considering all the global nonosense about AWG, one must conclude that the current non-warming must be due to AWG.

No matter how filthy the Chinese make their own landmass- or how many political prisoners they kill- some parties in the West will always turn a blind eye.
The rationalizations of the so called "climate scientists" are reminiscent of those of the alchemists described in "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds". They always had a putative reason for why they couldn't turn base metals into gold. At no point did they question wether or not the concept was flawed in the first place. Nice to know that "plus ca change, plus ca reste le meme".
Methinks the alarmists may come to regret this bit of news, especially if they do an about-face and admit that they've been lying the past decade and the warming really has stopped.
The myth that sulphates were responsible for the mid-century cooling was debunked long ago. Sulphates do indeed reflect sunlight and cool the earth, but burning fossil fuels also pumps soot into the atmosphere, and that soot absorbs heat quite readily, cancelling out any cooling effect of sulphates. Sulphates from volcanoes cool the planet because the mitigating soot isn't there.
So now we wait and see. Will the alarmists denounce this study or jump on his bandwagon? Gonna be interesting.
The propaganda of global warming caused by man's pollution (Co2) now dead, the world's social engineers are again using pollution (Sulphur) for now explaining global cooling.
If the cooling period persists then it is a guarantee that third world country famine will rise along with significant wildlife death. Every time the earth enters those cooler periods, life on the planet is more 'stressed'.
Looks like the Gores and Suzukis of this world might already be working on a potentially more effective propaganda project using man made global cooling.
After all, their goal would remain the same as A. G. Warming:
-Raise taxes
-Create more regulation
-Justify the continuation of solar panels, windmills and battery operated cars.
This natural cooling phase as was the previous natural warming phase, is caused by the sun...Google SOLAR MINIMUM.
I am 52 years old and I remember how the early 1970's temps were growing up on the farm: The same as right now except lot less people were a bunch of brainwashed sissies back then.
If they have their sums right, China is doing what the west did after WWII.
It's hardly news that SO2 exerts a cooling effect AND CO2 exerts a warming effect.
If you can hold those two relations in your mind at the same time [not sure about a couple of the comments], this article holds no real surprises.
One can see it in any graph of global temperatures since 1900.
This mitigation by pollution is a favourite of geo-engineering types, who have shown how relatively easy it could be to reverse global warming &, unlike carbon reduction, it wouldn't require a lot of international cooperation, [nor even a country as big as China]
But it does have its problems.
But I thought the soot was darkening the polar snow and causing it to melt, thereby raising the albedo of the earth, causing further catastrophic careening towards the "Tipping Point TM"?????
Oh the complexity of it all.....you'd almost think it was a non-linear chaotic system with near infinite inputs......
