Where There's Death, There's Hope

Rigzone;

Venezuelan oil allows Raul Castro to "buy time in the face of citizen discontent," Yoani Sanchez, the author of the Havana-based blog Generation Y, wrote this month, while the loss of Chavez "could hasten Raul's own downfall."

While some Cuba experts disagree with such a dour scenario, there is no doubt that Fidel Castro made sure Chavez got the best of care.

"Fidel is like a saint," Chavez told Cuban state television."

Yes, I've often heard Kate say the same thing.

Sort of. ;-)

Another 'out of the ballpark' header!

I hope Chavez remembered to bring enough money to buy his bandages.

"In the end, Chavez’s fate may be sealed by the same factors that have made his Presidency so impractical and ineffective. He may have taken a decision to be treated in Cuba, based on ideology and emotions, rather than on the facts and on the capability and preparation of those that will treat him."

No oil?

Best thing that could happen to clean up Havanna's choking air.

Mind you, still wouldn't be enough to make the place the "happy island paradise" as per the propoganda of The Selectively Blind.

I read they bring in a guy from Spain to do the surgery.

Die Chavez ... die!

I hope they took the bästard here.

I, for one, will never flounce to cuba and enjoy the sun/sand, financing the tyranny that treats the people like dogs. Unlike 100% of the canucks who go there because it's "cheap".

I recently chatted up a Venezuelan, and the political polarization down there sounds like it would make Harper and Layton look like coalition partners. Those who like Chavez like him a lot, everyone else, not so much. An old story I guess..

Personally I think Chavez is doing a great job. He's a good socialist infomercial and he's flushed out a tonne of western academics who support him. The last thing to do is martyr the guy. He's far more productive making crazy speeches at the UN than dead.

The gayest Trudeau son is probably inconsolable after he read about Hugo's fabulous visit to his "superman".

Learn some "capitalization" there, left-trash.

"you're each a poster child..."

Illuminating grammar, anus. Did I spell that correctly?

"The best of care" in Cuba is not so good as Fidel's own importing of a surgeon and medical equipment from Spain attests.
