The Tolerant Left

It's time to add Greenpeace to the list of terrorist organizations;

In the early hours of July 14, Greenpeace protestors gained illegal entry into an experimental CSIRO operated farm near Canberra and destroyed a crop of genetically modified (GM) wheat.

Australia's national science organisation had been growing GM wheat at its Ginninderra Experiment Station, and was recently granted approval by the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR), a government oversight agency, to begin human trials.

"Human trials were expected to begin sometime in the next few months to a year," said Jeremy Burdon, chief of the division of Plant Industry at CSIRO. "The worst case scenario now is that the [field] trial will have to be abandoned and resumed some time next year."

The wheat's genetic makeup has been altered to improve its nutritional value, said Burdon. Modifying the level of resistant starch could impact where the digestive process takes place in the gut, and could have health benefits for obesity and bowel cancer.

They did it for Obama.

Human beings have been 'genetically modifying' natural plants and animals since..well, since humans moved into agriculture.

They did it, not via direct work on the genes, but by selective harvesting, cross-breeding and so on. This intelligent work has resulted in the increase of food supplies - and better nutrition (for humans, animals and plants), for the last 10,000 plus years.

But I heard you can beat bowel cancer and obesity by eating more strawberries and through a few sessions of 'healing touch'. So why make fewd unnatural ... man!

It propably would be best if humans did not constantly try to improve on nature. This would solve some of the deficit, there even maybe less of el gordos.

If somebody wants to eat the made up stuff, go ahead, knock yourself out.

As long as one can eat the ordinary stuff, no problem. When one is forced to eat the made up stuff, you should recognize a problem.

To be sure, from here, "Green Peace" is consdered to be environ-mental fascists.

A "gene regulator"!?

How long will it take the feds to remove their charity status - New Zealand saw the light a few months ago...

Today's luddites

Yup, just like zinc enrichment in fertilizers to the third world (or the affect that elevated CO2 levels have on growing rates for grains). Anything that can result in the less starvation in the extremely poor parts (read as: freedom deprived parts) of the earth must be demonized and destroyed.

if there's an increase in the food supply to the worse-off countries then you'd think that would be something greenscam and it's ilk would be working FOR....then again, as we've seen over and over and over, giving extra food just results in local thugs taking over to control the distribution as we saw in Somalia and so many other places...that and if, somehow, there is a stabilizing effect and the country prospers, the NGO's are out of a poster child for their 95%-goes-to-administration-and-overhead fundraising schemes...it's almost as if the greenpunks knew that any real increase in foodstocks would be a net decrease in their funds.....

It's the same-old logical regression of fell-good environmentalism into eco-terrorism.

The driver is fascism. When the enviro-nuts realize they can't persuade people to behave to their preferences by choice alone, they resort to violence and intimidation in order to force people to comply with their vision. The justification is the good of the planet.

LOTS of parallels to Islam.

Right you are Mark @ 12;10. Before the Greenpeace terror had unleashed greenie thugs, thugs terrorizing citizens did this job themselves; for example, under Turdo Canada shipped discounted (free!) shiploads of good #1 prairie wheat to USSR to help Stalin feed the starving people of the Soviet Union. Stalin took the wheat and left it to rot in the harbour. He didn't want no stinkin Canada wheat feeding the folks; he wanted emancipated prisoners and stinkin corpses around to frighten his other, less starved, folks into submission.

Different age, different thugs - same mission: universal slavery.

I think there is more to this that just vandalism. Greenpeace and affiliates want to be charged and go to court. They want to establish this type of behavior as lawful, an act of global self-defense against planet-killing corporations. They have had mixed results in Britain with a 1 for 2 record in getting charges dismissed for shutting down coal plants.

Moving on to Australia and other eco-guilt ridden countries increases the likelihood of gaining favorable court decisions.

Time to hire armed security guards,or is that possible in Australia anymore?

Greenpeace and the rest of the "get-back-to-nature" groups are opposed to eating anything "unnatural",yet all are vehemently opposed to hunting.

You can't get much more natural food than a moose or deer.

Less bowel cancer = more humans not dead = bigger human carbon footprint - all in keeping with the eco terror groups mandate to depopulate the planet.

Greenpeace "gotchas"; Aboriginal Anarchy; Bendover Beauracrats; Panic stricken Politicians; Same breed all are just "Looters". Cheers;

Reloise the dingos.

First world theatrics paid for with third world lives.

Penn and Teller said it best "It's easy to protest when you aren't hungry."

But but but, I thought terrorist organizations were things like the Boy Scouts, conservatives, Christians, and white people?

Any farmer will tell you what you eat as grain today is modified over thousands of years by Picking crops. Genetically modifying them is only a short cut. They could do this to grain but it would take a few centuries naturally. Why do these same people not yelling about curing disease or using artificial means like stem cell research?

Environmentalists: They're in favour of science, except when they're against it.

This story reminds me of Monsanto and their development of golden rice a number of years ago...a gmo rice with elevated levels of carotene (if memory serves me correct)to combat blindness in third world countries that have diets lacking in essential nutrients. Monsanto wanted to GIVE the technology to those countries in need to help feed their people and it would have gone a long way in stopping blindness....but the greenies put the kabosh to that by convincing foreign governments it was basically poison.
The money has to stop flowing to those wack-job green organizations...

They're teh-eeevil intemelectual scientists, they deserved it! I think you're forgetting what side of the issue you're supposed to be on, Kate.

Greenpeace has ALWAYS been a terrorist organization. The multinational enviro-hysteria-pimping, fundraising, and extortion functions are merely the relatively respectable cover.

Maybe the dingo ate your terrorist.

Alex, you do realize Kate has published at least one paper on genetics?
