US debt... visualized. (h/t R Black)

They are making cigarette makers put gruesome pictures on cigarette packages. Maybe the IRS should include that gruesome graphic on 1040 form. Of course, that means less than half the people in the U.S. would see it...

Very stark. In light of that, a combination of an across-the-board spending cut and tax increase does not seem unreasonable. If I were a US citizen, I'd say it's time for the President and Congress to stop playing politics and make some tough decisions.

What, me worry?

No wonder people have become Gold bugs. The paper means nothing. Its just colored tree bark with no backing.

Read "Reckless Endangerment" by Gretchen Morgenson. It is unfreaking believable how corrupt the system is and it's what caused the collapse (and subsequent bailout) of the major banks with the big players walking away. A double whammy for American taxpayers/investors. Descipable. They should all be drawn and quartered then hung out to dry. Instead, at least 25 million dollars of taxpayer money has been spent for their legal DEFENSE!!

Re: Reckless Endangerment. The politicians had no balls. And, of course, some got kickbacks, donations perkes etc.

The book makes a great case for criminal prosecution.

For another take, see this video which was a Top 10 finisher for the Power Line prize. I found the sequence at the end using celestial bodies for comparison stunning.
