Alan Jones is kind of like the Rush Limbaugh of Australia. He has a podcast that's well worth a listen if you want to keep apprised of what's going on in the big land in the southern hemisphere.
Recently Jones has been hammering Australia's PM Julia Gillard about the carbon tax that she and her Green Party coalition partners are insisting upon bringing in. The outrage is more than a little reminiscent of something that happened here in Canada almost 3 years ago.
The Australian public is clearly outraged at Gillard's arrogance to introduce something they don't want. No surprise that some Radical Leftists choose to use Saul Alinsky tactics to support their zealotry.

In practical terms he's not really seen as a serious figure by the British media and in a way one of my interest in him here was because he is being taken so seriouly here when in Britain he is effectively ignored.
Well the British media don't have any academic credentials or peer reviewed papers either so who are they to effectively ignore him?
I like Lord Monckton because he asks the questions that the academic peer reviewed figures taken so seriously by the British media can't or won't answer, just the sort of skeptical questions the media themselves should have been asking all along.
Anyone who has been following Lord Monckton knows that asking questions is his primary method of getting at the truth that there is no CAGW.

I have been following Australia's Great Green De-carbonization project on Andrew Bolt's blog. Their MSM and ENGO's arguments are identical to what we hear in Canada, including : Australians are the worst per capita CO2 polluters in the world, they are an international embarrassment and that deniers are stupid and should shut up. If it wasn't for the accent you'd swear it was Andrew Coyne, Jon Kay, David Akin and Dan Gardner clones lecturing them.

Slap shot - I so agree with you about the smoke nazis, the smoking ban was a test run to see how people would react to creeping authoritarianism. As it turned out it worked better than the Bolshevik expected, adults were lining up to give away their right to choose for themselves what to do or what not to do.
